A Welsh Telephone Box & English Pub in Eastern Croatia

March 19, 2023 - Croatia is a land of stories - meet one of the more unusual ones, a British corner of eastern Croatia in the latest from the Fat Vlogger.  What is the most random thing you have seen in your time in Croatia? On my first visit to Vinkovci a few years ago, claimed as the oldest continuously inhabited town in Europe, stood something totally bizarre.  A red British telephone box.  How the hell did it get there, and why? And so began a rather fascinating journey and one of the most unusual stories of my time in…

Croatia Has Everything for 12-Month Tourism, Can Be Mediterranean Tourist Leader

March 19, 2023 - Can Croatia become a 12-month Mediterranean tourist leader? That and many other thought-provoking topics at this year's 3T Tourism, Travel and  Tech conference, reports Cimerfraj.    The annual 3T conference was held with a number of experts and conclusions: AI cannot replace humans, Croatia can still be a leader in realizing the maximum sustainability of tourism in the Mediterranean, and the offer for year-round tourism is not at all questionable. On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the 3T - Tourism, Travel & Tech conference was held. On that chilly morning at the dawn of another spring, conference…

Break Idea: Shoulder Season in Split, Ultimate Views at Hotel Ambasador

March 14, 2023 - It's mid-March, the sun is out, we might just be safe from the notorious bura, and Split is looking as magnificent as ever. To quote TCN's own Paul Bradbury, Dalmatia is a little like malaria. Once it gets in your blood, you are screwed for life. And once you visit it during the shoulder season, you're screwed in an entirely new way. Try and resist it, though. Paul Bradbury While in the summer you might still want to visit the Dalmatian islands and the charming little places along the Adriatic coast, Split is a city that offers…

Magical Medjimurje in March: a Major Surprise

March 7, 2023 - A business trip to Medjimurje in early March turned out to be a VERY pleasant tourism experience.  It is the smallest of all the Croatian counties, and the northernmost, nestled next to now borderless Slovenia and Hungary. And despite the fact I lived just a few kilometres from its capital of Cakovec during my time in Varazdin, Medjimurje is the county that I know least well in this fair land. Apart from one quite extraordinary 24 hours there with the Gastronaut legendica Karin Mimica back in 2016 (Read more in Gastronaut Discovers the Mystical Tastes and Traditions…

Bridge Over the River Cetina: Another Dalmatian Bridge Connected

March 5, 2023 - Good news for traffic in Omis - the bridge over the Cetina is finally connected. It has been a good 12 months for bridge enthusiasts in Dalmatia. Firstly, the opening of the much-anticipated Peljesac Bridge connecting the mainland to the Peljesac Peninsula, thereby bypassing the need to transit Bosnia and Hercegovina on the way from Split to Dubrovnik. The Chinese-made bridge has been a big initial success.  And now, another milestone, and there can't be many better examples of a bridge with a view than the recently connected bridge over the River Cetina. The Omis bypass…

Festival of Lights Zagreb Announcing a Colourful, Magical Intro to Spring

March 1, 2023 – Though the weather doesn’t look that promising these days, the hope is that spring is just around the corner in Croatia. It is March, after all; the days are a little longer and somewhat brighter (not just because of the snow), and we’re growing impatient with the desire to go back out and explore the streets of the capital some more. And what better way to do just that than the Festival of Lights Zagreb. Zagreb Tourist Board (Festival of Lights Zagreb website) And the arrival of spring and the notion of light have always been…

Pointers Travel: Croatia is an Undiscovered Gem for American Tourists

February 23, 2023 - I opened an office on 7th Avenue, and we’re starting our activities there, including the promotion of Croatia on the American market, proudly says Krunoslav Weinpert, founder and owner of DMC agency Pointers Travel from Osijek. And there are many reasons for him to be proud because for an agency from Croatia to have an office in New York is a great success and a huge challenge. It's one thing to come to a tourist fair for a couple of days, and quite another to be present at the market every single day, writes hrturizam. "We…

No More Croatia, Full of Life: New Slogan Sought

February 21, 2023 - The Kingdom of Accidental has announced a competition for the selection of the umbrella communication concept - Big Idea and the new visual identity of Croatia as a tourist destination. Not so many people know that the reason I moved to Croatia was due to the Croatian National Tourist Board. Back in 2002, I had just sold my house in the UK and was working in northern Somalia. I was looking for a place to buy on the coast in Europe outside of the UK, when this 30-second commercial came on CNN - Croatia, the Mediterranean as…
