Pizza Vending Machine

By 21 September 2013

After arriving back in town from a rainy Zagreb and Budapest, I was excited to get in one more of this season's dwindling beach days.  Arriving off the bus, my wife picked me up and we headed off to Jezinac Beach in Marjan.  Hoping to grab something quick to eat, I was disappointed to find the "Surf -N- Fries" was already closed for the season.  However, in front was a pizza vending machine.  With no way to resist this monstrosity, I added 20 kuna (there was already a 10 kuna credit--thank you someone...I will pay it forward) and hit the Margarita button.

In five minutes you were able to see the entire cooking process as the pizzas are made fresh to order.  Next to the vending machine is an unwatched bottle of ketchup and some kind of spice if you are feeling adventurous.

We took out the pizza, and it looked a little undercooked.  The cheese had melted, but the outer crust was pasty white, though crispy.  Nevertheless, it was edible.

In the end, it was an okay pizza.  Sort of what you would expect, or maybe better considering it was borne from a vending machine.  If you have the opportunity, bring your favorite food from somewhere else.  In a hurry, it serves its purpose.
