Beaches on Hvar

Hvar Beach of the Week: 4. Lučišća

By paul 26 April 2012

Continuing our look at the beaches of Hvar through pictures, today we visit the delightful little beach at Lučišća.

It is almost time for the first swim of the year. I have to say that the outdoor pool at Hotel Amfora looked very inviting the other day, but the real swimming action is of course in the sea.

A very nice beach on the south side between Sveta Nedjelja and Dubovica is the one at Lučišća, which has been nicely photographed by the Hvar Tourist Board - see their Facebook page for more beaches and other Hvar treasures.

The bay is about halfway along the new 'road' to Sveta Nedjelja, which recently opened, connecting Hvar Town with the south side of the island. It is a spectacular drive, but not for the fainthearted.

Parking for cars is an issue, and I would think scooter or boat arrival would be the best. There is then a fairly sharp descent to the beach, but the magic that awaits at the bottom is more than worth the effort.

And if you like to explore underwater, check out the nearby cave.  Next week we travel to the northern coast near Jelsa.
