July 12, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 23 of 49 British Airways London-Zagreb flights have been canceled in August. 

British Airways significantly reduced the number of weekly flights between London (Heathrow Airport) and Zagreb for July, justifying the move by problems in the industry (lack of staff and capacity). The carrier has now reduced the schedule of flights to Zagreb for August, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Namely, the OneWorld alliance member canceled 23 of the announced 49 flights between Zagreb and London (Heathrow) planned for August this year.

Due to the lack of workforce within the company, but also due to the problem with the lack of staff at Heathrow Airport, British Airways has reduced the number of weekly flights on several European routes, including the one to Zagreb Airport.

Until a few days ago, British Airways offered up to 12 weekly flights between London and Zagreb. Still, since the number of weekly operations was reduced for July, it was expected that the company would do the same thing in the flight queue for August.

This has now happened, and instead of the planned and announced 49 weekly flights between London and Zagreb, British Airways canceled 23 flights. So now, 26 return flights have been announced for August.

British Airways plans to operate between London and Zagreb 6 times a week in August, every day except Mondays, mainly using its A320 aircraft and A321 aircraft leased from Finnair, which already operates on this route.

The airline has not yet reduced its flight schedule for September, but further cancellations of this carrier are expected.

Croatia Airlines also operates between Heathrow Airport and Zagreb three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, mostly with A319 aircraft. It is also possible to get to London with a direct Ryanair flight from Zagreb to Stansted, an airport approximately 60 kilometers from the center of London.

March 23, 2022 - The latest on flights to Croatia as the British Airways Zagreb line is boosted for the summer, and Air France adds two daily flights to Zagreb in the peak summer season. 

With the start of the summer flight schedule, British Airways is increasing the number of rotations on the regular line between London and Zagreb, reports Croatian Aviation. 

British Airways has renewed its route to Zagreb with a relatively modest number of weekly operations. Still, with the start of the summer flight schedule, there will be a positive shift in increasing the number of weekly operations between London and Zagreb.

The number of weekly rotations will gradually increase, with five flights announced this week and 8 return flights available next week.

From April 4 to 10, British Airways will operate between the two airports 10 times a week, daily, with two daily flights available on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The number of operations will continue to increase. As of mid-April, 13 rotations per week are currently announced, the number corresponding to the British Airways winter flight schedule in 2019, before the pandemic. Two flights a day are planned, every day of the week except Saturday.

There are 49 British Airways return flights in April between the two cities. A320 aircraft with 180 seats have been announced for the flights, offering more than 17,500 seats in one month.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that French national airline Air France, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, has revised its summer flight schedule and offers two daily flights to Zagreb in the peak summer season. 

Although Air France announced a second daily flight between Paris and Zagreb before the pandemic, the plan did not materialize due to a sharp drop in demand and lockdown across Europe. Thus, instead of this airline, the second daily flight was introduced by partner KLM, and now the same is announced by Air France.

Namely, from the beginning of the summer flight schedule, Air France will continue to operate daily between Paris and Zagreb, and in the peak summer season, from July 9, the second daily flight was announced.

Namely, two daily flights are currently announced in July, except on Wednesdays when Air France will have one daily flight, while in August, two daily flights are available for booking every day of the week.

In addition, Croatia Airlines continues to operate between Paris and Zagreb, so a total of three daily flights will be available between these two airports during the peak summer season, or 21 flights a week!

January 26, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as British Airways London-Zagreb flights in February have been canceled. 

Croatian Aviation reports that British Airways has canceled all flights between London and Zagreb in February this year. 

Namely, British Airways has canceled 15 return flights in February between London and Zagreb, justifying the move by low demand, which is directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

British Airways is currently planning to return to Zagreb on the last day of February, from which four flights a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, have been announced again. As a reminder, as of January 27, the United Kingdom will abolish most of the strict measures, and testing on the second day after arriving in the country will no longer be mandatory. The easing of austerity measures is expected to allow more passenger movement, but it is hard to expect demand to rise so drastically in these winter months, which were mostly bad even in the years before the pandemic.

Irish Ryanair currently connects London Stansted and Zagreb 5 times a week, every day of the week except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while Croatia Airlines connects London Heathrow and Zagreb 4 times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Regular British Airways operations between Zagreb and London can be expected only in the summer flight schedule, but then the focus of this airline moves to the coast, to Dubrovnik, Split, and Pula.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reported earlier this week that Eurowings drastically cut the number of flights to Zagreb Airport since the beginning of this year due to reduced demand. January and February are traditionally the two worst months of the year regarding air traffic in Croatia and the region. This year, demand is adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the world.

For this reason, Eurowings has canceled numerous departures to and from Zagreb International Airport. 

On the Stuttgart - Zagreb - Stuttgart line, Eurowings made its last flight on January 9 this year, and there are no regular flights between the two cities until February 7. Furthermore, 14 return flights were canceled in the mentioned period, which is 4,368 fewer seats to and from Zagreb.

On the Cologne - Zagreb - Cologne route, Eurowings operates regularly, twice a week, but some weekly flights have been canceled, as many as 10, which is 3,120 seats less than planned!

The Dusseldorf - Zagreb line last operated on December 28, 2021, as all flights for January and February were canceled. The next flight is announced for March 1. Zagreb lost an additional 6,120 seats from 17 canceled rotations.

The Prague - Zagreb line was supposed to start operating in the winter flight schedule this year, but it did not happen. Eurowings has already extended the start of operations on this line several times, and the first flight has been announced for March 8. A total of 6 rotations planned for January and February were canceled, which is an additional 1,872 fewer seats.

From the beginning of the year to March, Eurowings canceled 47 return flights on four international routes, which caused Zagreb to lose 15,480 seats.

December 7, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as British Airways Zagreb flights resume in December, and Aeroflot will operate between Moscow and Zagreb daily from December 23. 

The British national airline and OneWorld alliance member British Airways resumed regular flights between London and Zagreb in early December, reports Croatian Aviation.

Namely, on December 2 this year, a British Airways A320 aircraft landed again at Zagreb Airport with a total of 103 passengers after a short break. Since the beginning of the pandemic, British Airways has often made operational changes in its flight schedule, with most changes to its Zagreb route, which has been suspended several times for a shorter or longer period.

Zagreb suffered the same fate this autumn, but British Airways has resumed traffic on the route to Zagreb, expecting higher demand in December, as is usually the case, due to the Christmas holidays and New Year's celebrations.

Thus, from December 2 to 31, British Airways will operate a total of 14 return flights between Zagreb and London and offer an additional 5,000 seats. Along with British Airways, Croatia Airlines also operates on this route four times a week, while the Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair flies between Stansted and Zagreb.

According to current announcements, British Airways will stay in Zagreb until January 10 (flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays), and then will cancel the route again. For now, only until February 1, but it is expected that the airline will extend flights to Zagreb until spring.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that the Russian national airline Aeroflot will operate daily between Moscow and Zagreb from December 23 this year.

Aeroflot will send wide-body A330-300 aircraft to Zagreb this December, all due to the increased passenger demand when Russian citizens flocked to the Croatian capital in large numbers for vaccines.

In addition to the previously announced A330-300 aircraft, which will arrive in Zagreb on December 9 and 12, the third A330-300, which will land in the Croatian capital on Thursday, December 16, has been announced in additional changes.

By the end of this year, Aeroflot will offer more than 7,200 seats between Moscow and Zagreb on a total of 19 return flights, with 3 return flights with wide-body aircraft that we could see daily at Dubrovnik Airport this summer and on the last day of the summer season in Split. 

So far, Aeroflot has rarely sent wide-body aircraft to Zagreb, but this was mainly due to cargo. In the winter of 2019, Aeroflot flew to Zagreb on a daily basis using Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.

March 24, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia, as British Airways flights to Zagreb are postponed until the end of June. 

Croatian Aviation reports that British national airline has postponed the start of operations on the London - Zagreb - London route until the end of June.

Instead of March 28, as the airline announced earlier, British Airways plans to return to Zagreb only at the end of June.

The airline canceled all planned operations to and from Zagreb until June 21 due to low demand and passenger restrictions between the two countries.

On June 21, daily flights on this route have been announced, but it is clear that British Airways is likely to further reduce the number of weekly flights between the two cities. There is also the possibility that the start of operations will be delayed again, which British Airways has done several times since January when it last operated on this line.

Recall that British Airways last flew to Zagreb around Christmas. Operations were suspended when a new strain of coronavirus was detected in the UK and when Croatia banned flights from the UK and many other countries in Europe and the world.

Croatia Airlines operates on the line between London (Heathrow) and Zagreb, once a week, on Mondays.

The UK is set to introduce new coronavirus laws next week, which would slap a GBP 5,000 fine to anyone holidaying abroad while travel restrictions are still in place. British tourists are thus allowed to travel abroad only if they have a "reasonable excuse." The current penalty for not filling out a travel declaration form is GBP 200.

MPs will vote on the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Steps) (England) Regulations 2021 tomorrow, and if all goes to plan, the law will come into effect on Monday, March 29.

The new law would remain in place until June 30, 2021. Until now, the earliest international travel could have resumed was May 17.

February 10, 2021 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as British Airways cancels Zagreb flights until the end of March.

Croatian Aviation reports that the British national airline has withdrawn all flights on the London - Zagreb - London route until the end of March 2021.

Namely, British Airways withdrew all departures on the London Heathrow - Zagreb - London Heathrow route until the end of March.

In September, British Airways suspended traffic on this route and operated on it for a short time during the holidays (around November 1 and around Christmas). After a new strain of the virus was found in the UK, countries banned flights from the UK (including Croatia), so British Airways was forced to cancel flights to Zagreb.

The airline then released tickets for sale on the direct line between London and Zagreb, but, as usual, the flights never took off, and they will likely remain so.

Thus, British Airways has canceled all planned flights to and from Zagreb until the end of March, i.e., until the end of the winter flight schedule, which ends on Saturday, March 27, 2020.

On Sunday, March 28, British Airways will offer 11 weekly flights between the two mentioned capitals, though even this is questionable. It is to be expected that this airline will continue to cancel flights, which is not surprising given that there are strong restrictive measures that directly affect demand itself. 

The only direct option to travel by plane on this route is by Croatia Airlines, which operates between London and Zagreb only once a week, on Mondays. Still, the prices offered by the Croatian national carrier are quite steep. 

To give you an idea, a one-way ticket from Zagreb to London on February 22 costs around 2,316 kuna, and in the opposite direction even more.

Namely, a return ticket on this route with Croatia Airlines for travel between February 22 and March 3 costs almost 3,250 kuna or 430 euro!
