ZAGREB, 2 May 2021 - A traveling music and film show for visitors in cars, called "Drive-in Culture", will take place in Zagreb on 14-16 May, and this year its second edition will also take place in Pula and Osijek.

The programme was designed during last year's lockdown by Sabrina Herak Smoković and Marin Leo Janković, the founders of the Submarine production company.

Faced with the question of whether to give up or find a solution to keep culture alive amid the coronavirus pandemic, they revived the idea of a drive-in cinema, the organizers said in the announcement.

The first event of this year's Drive-in Culture will take place in a car park behind the city's Technical Museum. Each film night will begin with a selection of local short films.

Feature films will also be screened, and the programme also includes music.

August 15, 2020 - You'll be able to go to the movies again from Thursday 20 August

After almost five months of closure, Croatia's cinemas are reopening their doors. The country's largest cinema chain, CineStar, will begin showing films again on Thursday 20 August, with the second-largest, Cineplexx starting their screenings six days later.

The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ) released epidemiological recommendations for multiplex cinemas on Monday. There will be a necessary one seat gap between each group visiting the cinemas, which will automatically occur in all bookings made in advance online and on the day at the box office. A distance of 1.5 meters must be observed in the hall or lobby in the cinemas between each group. The measures are expected to reduce cinema capacity to 50%.

Other cinema epidemiological recommendations include:

- Regular hand disinfection, coughing into the elbow or handkerchief.

- Masks are not mandatory in the hall.

- Air conditioning is permitted but must be thoroughly cleaned.

- A distance of 1.5 meters or one place must be observed by people inside the halls.

- Every other seat will be empty; families and people from the same household can sit next to each other.

- Customers should leave the screenings "one by one", with visitors closest to the exit coming out first.

- The start of screenings to be staggered to reduce large groups congregating in lobbies at the same time.

- It is recommended to keep the details of visitors buying tickets online.

- Protective barriers and ensuring contactless payment are mandatory when buying at the box office.

Kino Edison in Karlovac might be getting a makeover.

Located in the Old Town next to Sponza Palace and St. Blaise church, one of the oldest cinemas in Dubrovnik is open all year showing three to four Croatian and international movies a day. Recently, they put on display the chosen selection of photos and movies being filmed in Dubrovnik as well as the portraits of famous actors who started or boosted their career inside the City Walls. The auditorium can accommodate up to 300 people.

This Sunday, August 28, an outdoor cinema will be erected at Sustipan park. This night under the stars will begin at 21h.

The occasional summer rainfall in Split seems to leave you with few options of things to do. But fear not! Split has plenty of indoor activities for you to spend the day covered, happy, and dry. There could be worse places to be on a summer holiday when the weather isn’t up to your liking, and we’re here to give you some activities for when the sun isn’t out, and the rain is falling.

First off, go to the cinema! The city of Split luckily has plenty for you to frequent, from massive cineplexes to smaller old style movie theatres. There is a Cineplexx at City Center One, a Cinestar at Joker, Karaman right in the center, and Kinoteka playing independent and foreign films. All cinemas are either accessible by bus, or walking distance in the center of the Old Town.

Secondly, go to one of the three largest shopping malls we have in Split! Joker is conveniently located about a 15-20 walk from the center, or a short bus or taxi right from the center. City Center One, the second largest shopping mall in Dalmatia, is easily accessible by the 18 bus. Here you have activities from cageball to go-karting, as well as a casino and playroom for children. Lastly, the Mall of Split is the largest shopping mall in Dalmatia. The Mall Of Split has over 200 shops and plenty of children’s activities from legos to the twister fun park. The Mall of Split is also accessible by the 18 bus.

Last but not least: museums! Split has so many museums that are centrally located and easy to walk to (even in the rain). Everything from the Split City Museum, the Archeological Museum, Museum of Croatian Archeological Monuments, Ethnographic Museum, Treasury of Split Cathedral, Maritime Museum, and the Gallery of Fine Arts are centrally located and will keep your rainy day filled with history.

When the islands and your tan have to wait, luckily you’ll be fully occupied with a day indoors.

After several years a regular cinema program returns to Vrgorac, through the project of Kino Mediteran. Together, 20 cities are participating in this project of revitalisation of cinemas in Dalmatia. The goal is to restore a quality cinema program to these cities. Projections will take place at the Cinema Hall in Vrgorac in cooperation with the local partner - The City Art Centre Vrgorac.

Today, on February 2, 2016 (Tuesday), there will be two movies: at 17.00 the animated film for children "Ooops! Noah is Gone" (synchronized) and at 20.00 the Spanish hit "Perfect Day" with Benicio Del Toro in the lead role.

Some time ago, the Ministry of Culture presented a project of digitalization and intependent cinemas across the country. The Community College in Imotski recognized this opportunity and responded on time fulfilling all requirements. Financed by the Ministry of Culture and the Community College Imotski, the Imotski cinema will be one of the 28 cinemas across the country to be digitalized.
