Condor Rijeka and Dubrovnik Flights Resume, Smartwings Prague-Dubrovnik Flights Canceled

May 22, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Condor Rijeka and Dubrovnik flights resumed this weekend, and Smartwings canceled Prague-Dubrovnik flights for the summer.

On May 21, the German leisure airline Condor resumed traffic to two Croatian airports - Rijeka and Dubrovnik, reports Croatian Aviation. Condor thus resumed traffic to Rijeka and Dubrovnik on four international lines from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

Rijeka Airport

Rijeka Airport is already connected to Frankfurt by Lufthansa, which currently operates on this route once a week, every Saturday. On May 25, the airline will introduce a second weekly flight, on Wednesdays.

In addition to Lufthansa, Condor will operate on this route once a week, also on Saturdays, until the end of September, so Rijeka Airport has a regular connection with Frankfurt three times a week. On the first Condor flight from Frankfurt, 103 passengers arrived in Rijeka, while 33 of them traveled from Rijeka.

Condor also launched the announced line between Rijeka and Dusseldorf, which will run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. 146 passengers arrived in Rijeka on the first Condor flight, while 22 of them traveled from Kvarner to Düsseldorf. Rijeka is connected to Düsseldorf by a regular Eurowings line, which launched yesterday. It should also be mentioned that Eurowings is introducing a line from Stuttgart, and today from Berlin and Hamburg to Rijeka.

Dubrovnik Airport

Condor resumed traffic to Dubrovnik Airport, also with lines from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, and both will be in traffic once a week, every Saturday.

Dubrovnik is connected to Frankfurt by regular lines of Croatia Airlines and Lufthansa, while the line between Dubrovnik and Dusseldorf, in addition to Condor, is also operated by Eurowings.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Czech airline Smartwings has withdrawn all flights previously announced for this summer season on the seasonal route between Prague and Dubrovnik. The airline will operate exclusively to Split.

The Prague-Dubrovnik line was supposed to operate daily during the peak season.

Smartwings will operate between Prague and Split this summer and the line is already in traffic. The number of weekly flights will gradually increase from four to seven flights a week, and flights between the two cities are planned until October 9 this year.

Flights to Croatia: Finnair Helsinki-Zagreb Flights, Condor to Rijeka and Dubrovnik

November 11, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia with the announcement of Finnair Helsinki-Zagreb flights and new Condor flights to Rijeka and Dubrovnik.

Finnish national airline Finnair (Oneworld alliance member) announced its 2022 summer schedule, and Zagreb is on the list of new destinations, reports Croatian Aviation.

Finnair will operate regularly between Helsinki and Zagreb next summer, and the Helsinki - Zagreb - Helsinki line will be introduced on May 1, 2022. Flights will run three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. A319 aircraft with a capacity of 144 seats have been announced on the route, meaning Finnair will offer more than 22,000 seats on the Helsinki-Zagreb route from May to October next year.

Before the pandemic, Croatia Airlines operated in the summer between Helsinki and Zagreb, but the line was not in operation in 2021 and 2020 due to reduced demand.

Finnair has operated to Dubrovnik and Split in the summer flight schedule for many years, and earlier this airline had Pula on its destination map. Finnair's arrival in the Croatian capital is great news for all those who normally travel between the two cities, as well as for those who will continue their journey to destinations in Asia with this airline.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that German leisure airline Condor announced two new routes to Croatia.

Condor Airlines announced a series of new routes from Düsseldorf, which is the focus this winter. For now, several new routes have been announced for next year's summer flight schedule, including two to Croatian airports.

Condor plans to operate to three Croatian airports next summer. Split is already a traditional destination and will have three routes next year - from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich.

Condor will introduce two new routes - between Düsseldorf and Rijeka, twice a week, and one flight a week between Düsseldorf and Dubrovnik.

Croatian Aviation adds that A320 aircraft will operate to Rijeka and Dubrovnik, while Condor will use A320, A321, and B757 aircraft to Split, just like in the 2021 summer season.

Flights to Croatia: Condor Announces Zurich to Split, Tunisair Introduces Zagreb-Monastir Next Summer

November 3, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Condor announces Zurich to Split next summer, and Tunisair plans to connect Zagreb and Monastir for the first time since 2014.

Croatian Aviation reports that the German leisure carrier Condor announced one new route to Croatia in next year's summer flight schedule - Zurich to Split.

Namely, Condor is opening its first base outside Germany, and in the summer of 2021, this well-known airline will base two A320 aircraft and launch nine international routes from Zurich.

Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Olbia, Heraklion, Kos, Rhodes, Larnaca, and Split are new destinations for Condor Airlines from Zurich next summer. This airline is responding to the requests of Swiss tour operators with whom it will cooperate even more actively next summer season.

Condor Airlines will make its first flight on the Zurich - Split route on April 30, 2021, and tickets are already on sale on the airline's official website.

On the Zurich - Split route, Croatia Airlines and Swiss Edelweiss operate in the summer flight schedule, making Condor the third airline on the same route.

From April 30 to May 23, 2021, the line will operate twice a week, every Friday and Sunday. From May 25, the third flight of the week will be introduced every Tuesday, and Condor will operate with three flights a week until October 5, 2021.

Condor will offer as many as 26,280 seats on the Zurich - Split line next summer.

Condor Airlines flight schedule on the route Zurich - Split - Zurich

Tuesday: Zurich 06:40 - 08:20 Split 09:20 - 11:15 Zurich

Thursdays and Sundays: Zurich 16:45 - 18:25 Split 19:25 - 21:20 Zurich

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Tunisia's national airline Tunisair planned to launch a charter route between Zagreb - Monastir at the end of May this year (once a week, on Wednesdays), which was to operate until the beginning of October.

Zagreb and Monastir were last directly connected back in 2014, and there have been no direct lines between Tunisia and Croatia for a long time.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, Tunisair decided against launching this line in the summer of 2020 but instead has announced its flight schedule for the next summer season in which it plans to launch a charter line between Zagreb and Monastir.

The regular charter line is currently announced from June 2 to September 29, 2021, only slightly shorter than the original plan for this year’s summer flight schedule.

Monastir 18:00 - 21:10 Zagreb 21:55 - Monastir 23:00

In the 2021 summer season, the line will operate once a week, on Wednesdays, with B737-600 aircraft with a capacity of 126 seats in the fleet of this carrier. According to the original plan, A320 aircraft with a higher capacity than the currently announced B737-600 was to operate on the route.

Flights to Croatia: Condor Ends Traffic to Split Airport in September

September 10, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Condor ends traffic to Split Airport.

Croatian Aviation reports that Condor, a German leisure airline, will finish operating in September to its only destination in Croatia this summer season - Split Airport. The Frankfurt-Split route has two flights announced in October, but the probability of their realization is quite small.

On June 12, the company launched traffic to Split with three international routes, from Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Hanover, available with two flights a week.

Before the outbreak of the pandemic, this leisure airline regularly flew from German airports to Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik, but in this year's summer flight schedule, Condor flew only to Split Airport.

The company made its last flight on the Hannover - Split route on Sunday, August 30, and it is no longer on offer in this year's summer flight schedule.

The Split - Dusseldorf route operated twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, and the last flight on this route was announced for Sunday, September 13.

In June, Condor first launched the Split-Frankfurt route, which is currently announced throughout September. The company offers direct flights on this route every Friday and Sunday, until September 27. A320 aircraft were used on all routes to Croatia, while the Frankfurt-Split route was an exception, and occasionally used larger aircraft (A321, B757).

On the route from Frankfurt, the company also has two direct flights on sale in October (October 11 and October 25), but the probability that these flights will be canceled is high.

Condor has announced its preliminary flight schedule for next summer’s season and it has announced the three mentioned routes to Split Airport. No resumption of traffic to other airports in Croatia has been announced yet.

Flights to Croatia: Condor to Split, Aegean Resumes in June, Emirates Postponed Again

May 23, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik.

Croatian Aviation reports that German leisure company, Condor, announced they'd be resuming regular international lines from several German cities to well-known tourist destinations across Europe, including Split.

Before the outbreak of the pandemic, this German airline regularly flew on seasonal routes from German airports to Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik, but in the current summer flight schedule, the lines have not yet started operating.

In its last announcement, the company announced the resumption of operations, and the first line to Croatia will be introduced from the end of June.

From June 26, Condor will fly on two routes to Split:

Frankfurt - Split, from June 26, twice a week (Fridays and Sundays),

Dusseldorf - Split, from June 26, twice a week (Fridays and Sundays).

In addition to these two direct routes, the company, in cooperation with Lufthansa, also offers flights to Hamburg and Munich with short transfers. The mentioned lines will be operated by A320 aircraft, with a capacity of 180 seats.

Tickets are already on sale on the airline's official website. Split will thus be connected to Dusseldorf 3 times a week, considering that Eurowings, as we announced earlier, will fly between these two cities from June 20.

The airline has not yet confirmed the start of traffic from German cities to Zadar, Rijeka and Dubrovnik.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reported that Aegean Airlines announced new start dates for operations to destinations in Croatia.

The Greek airline plans to fly to 3 destinations in Croatia: Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb in the current summer flight schedule. The line to Zadar was canceled in 2019.

Athens-Dubrovnik will be in operation twice a week from June 25, wit A320 aircraft. Aircraft of this type at Aegean has a capacity of 174 seats. The increase to five-week flights is planned for July 3.

The Athens-Split line has been announced four times a week from July 6, with the A319 aircraft, with a capacity of 144 seats.

The Athens-Zagreb route will again operate from July 1, three times a week, on A319 and A320 aircraft (capacity 144 and 174 seats, respectively).

Finally, Croatian Aviation reports that Emirates, an airline from the United Arab Emirates, has additionally canceled the start of operations on the Zagreb-Dubai route.

Although this seasonal line was supposed to start operating on the first day of the summer flight schedule, this did not happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After that, the company repeatedly delayed the start of operations on this line, and the latest information was that this well-known company would come to the Croatian capital again from July 1 this year.

Emirates usually flies on the Dubai-Zagreb route every day, but due to reduced demand, flights are now postponed until August 1, when the line should start operating with only four flights per week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). B47-300ER aircraft with a capacity of 354 seats have been announced on the route.

Given that this is the only seasonal Emirates route in the entire destination network, there is a high probability that this airline will not return to Zagreb this season.
