ZAGREB, 16 July 2021 - The Croatian government decided on Friday to send tents, bunk beds, blankets, pillows and sleeping bags to Lithuania after the Baltic country has taken in more than 2,000 migrants in recent weeks.
The number of crossings of irregular migrants, mainly Syrians and Iraqis, from Belarus to Lithuania has increased 25 times compared to the whole of 2020, Croatian Interior Minister Davor Božinovć said at a cabinet meeting.
These developments prompted Lithuania to activate the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and ask other EU member states for assistance.
Croatia's aid is equivalent to HRK 1.05 million (€140,000).

ZAGREB, September 12, 2018 - Lithuanian Defence Minister Raimundas Karoblis on Wednesday thanked the Croatian army for participating in NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence mission in Lithuania, saying Croatia was an important partner to Lithuania and a true friend in Southeast Europe.
ZAGREB, March 14, 2018 - Lithuania's Achema Group said on Wednesday it completed the acquisition of a 42 MW wind farm in Croatia and an 18 MW wind farm in the Czech Republic, the group said in a statement on its website.
The soldier died on Tuesday at the barracks in Lithuania.
The soldier was in Lithuania as part of the NATO mission.
The first part of the unit which will take part in the NATO enhanced Forward Presence mission is on its way.
The entire marketing campaign for Lithuania was shot in Croatia.
On Thursday and Friday, the President will visit Lithuanian capital and LNG terminal in Klaipeda.
