Textile Waste Recycling Potential Ignored

ZAGREB, May 27, 2018 - The economic potential of clothing and footwear waste is not adequately recognised in Croatia and of the 52,000 tonnes of that type of waste collected in 2016, only 4% was recycled, which is a highly discouraging rate, it was said at a conference on the management of textile waste and job creation in the textile waste industry held in Zagreb.

Zagreb City Assembly Rejects Mayor’s Waste Management Plan

ZAGREB, April 27, 2018 - A waste management plan put to the Zagreb City Assembly by Mayor Milan Bandić on Thursday was not adopted as a majority of members voted against the proposed plan, with 15 votes in favour, 25 against and 7 abstentions.

EU Starts Two Infringement Procedures against Croatia

ZAGREB, January 29, 2018 - The head of the Civil-Liberal Alliance (GLAS) and Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) group in the Zagreb City Assembly, Anka Mrak-Taritaš, said on Monday that Zagreb was "absolutely unprepared" for waste sorting and that eventually citizens would be the ones to foot the bill.
