November 11, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia with the announcement of Finnair Helsinki-Zagreb flights and new Condor flights to Rijeka and Dubrovnik. 

Finnish national airline Finnair (Oneworld alliance member) announced its 2022 summer schedule, and Zagreb is on the list of new destinations, reports Croatian Aviation.

Finnair will operate regularly between Helsinki and Zagreb next summer, and the Helsinki - Zagreb - Helsinki line will be introduced on May 1, 2022. Flights will run three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. A319 aircraft with a capacity of 144 seats have been announced on the route, meaning Finnair will offer more than 22,000 seats on the Helsinki-Zagreb route from May to October next year. 

Before the pandemic, Croatia Airlines operated in the summer between Helsinki and Zagreb, but the line was not in operation in 2021 and 2020 due to reduced demand.

Finnair has operated to Dubrovnik and Split in the summer flight schedule for many years, and earlier this airline had Pula on its destination map. Finnair's arrival in the Croatian capital is great news for all those who normally travel between the two cities, as well as for those who will continue their journey to destinations in Asia with this airline.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that German leisure airline Condor announced two new routes to Croatia.

Condor Airlines announced a series of new routes from Düsseldorf, which is the focus this winter. For now, several new routes have been announced for next year's summer flight schedule, including two to Croatian airports.

Condor plans to operate to three Croatian airports next summer. Split is already a traditional destination and will have three routes next year - from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich.

Condor will introduce two new routes - between Düsseldorf and Rijeka, twice a week, and one flight a week between Düsseldorf and Dubrovnik. 

Croatian Aviation adds that A320 aircraft will operate to Rijeka and Dubrovnik, while Condor will use A320, A321, and B757 aircraft to Split, just like in the 2021 summer season.

Apil 15, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Finnair flights to Dubrovnik and Split have been announced for this summer!

Croatian Aviation reports that Finnair, Finland's national airline, plans to resume operations on its seasonal routes to Split and Dubrovnik from June. In previous years, the company operated briefly on a regular route to Pula, but it was canceled before the outbreak of the global pandemic.

Precisely because of the pandemic, this well-known airline did not operate in Croatia in the summer of 2020. Namely, a significant percentage of passengers on Finnair flights to Croatian airports are transfer passengers from Asia, which in the summer of 2020 were almost non-existent. Add to that the rather restrictive measures in Finland, the suspended lines were not a big surprise. 

Although Finland does not currently recommend that its citizens travel abroad, including to Croatia, it is to be expected that with the arrival of summer the measures will be significantly milder, so a kind of opening of borders will enable tourist trips to Croatia.

For this reason, Finnair plans to resume traffic to Split and Dubrovnik this summer. The first flight to Split is currently announced for June 3, and the company offers as many as five flights a week. It is almost certain that the company will cancel a certain number of flights on a weekly basis (according to the bookings, especially at the beginning of the route), but Finnair's return to Split this summer should not be questioned.

Traffic on the Helsinki - Dubrovnik - Helsinki Finnair line should be established from June 1 with four flights a week, but the company also warns of the possibility of canceling certain rotations.

Although Finnair worked intensively on the establishment of the Helsinki - Zagreb - Helsinki line before the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis, this did not happen for obvious reasons. The company will arrive in Zagreb this Sunday (April 18) on an ad-hoc charter flight from Helsinki, which will be a great opportunity for Zagreb spotters who cannot see the aircraft of this airline often at the Zagreb airport.

The E190 aircraft should land in Zagreb at 4:30 pm under flight number AY7569.

December 9, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Finnair plans flights from Helsinki to Croatia in 2021.

Croatian Aviation reports that the Finnish national airline Finnair has confirmed its return to Croatia with two routes from Helsinki in the 2021 summer flight schedule.

Finnair did not operate to Croatian airports in the summer flight schedule in 2020. At one point, the airline announced flights to Dubrovnik, but they were not realized due to the epidemiological situation and restrictions at the state borders. 

The Croatian market is very important to this airline, and apart from the P2P demand itself, the airline brings a large number of transfer passengers to Croatian airports from numerous Asian destinations, primarily China, Japan and South Korea.

Given that Emirates and Korean Air will not return to Zagreb Airport next summer, Finnair expects a larger number of transfer passengers to popular Croatian destinations such as Split and Dubrovnik, to which the company intends to operate next summer.

"We are sure to return to the Croatian market in the summer of 2021. Lines from Helsinki to Split and Dubrovnik will once again be an important link between Asia and the Adriatic."

The Helsinki-Split-Helsinki route, according to Finnair's current plan, should start with regular direct operations from 11 May 2021 with 5 flights a week (every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday). A319 aircraft with a capacity of 144 passengers in the carrier's fleet have been announced on the routes. Finnair plans to operate on this line until the fall (early October) next year.

The Helsinki-Dubrovnik-Helsinki route is planned for March 29, but the airline will still adjust the flight schedule to Dubrovnik according to the epidemiological situation.

According to the current flight schedule confirmed by this airline, there will be an increase in the number of weekly operations in April and May, so that as of May 25, as many as 6 flights per week will be available on this route (every day except Thursday). In relation to the line to Split, the airline plans to use A321 aircraft with a capacity of 209 passengers towards Dubrovnik. Finnair has as many as 19 aircraft of this type in its fleet.

The very fact that Finnair has decided to keep two lines to Croatia in its destination network for 2021 is important and positive news. It is still questionable whether Croatia Airlines will reintroduce a direct line between Helsinki and Zagreb next summer.
