Eight days earlier than in 2014, the Split Airport on Wednesday saw its millionth passenger this year. It was a passenger on a Croatia Airlines flight to Zurich, according to a report in Poslovni.hr.
This year's millionth passenger at Split Airport was Swedish citizen Satumaarika Emmesjoe who, together with her family, spent her holidays in Dalmatia.
Noting that this year's millionth passenger was welcomed eight days earlier than last year, representatives of the Split Airport say that the total passenger traffic this year is 11 percent better compared to the same period last year.
At a small ceremony, staff of the Split Airport presented the Swedish passenger with a commemorative gift voucher worth 300 euro which can be used in a duty-free-shop at the airport, while Croatia Airlines gave her two return tickets for a flight of her choice.
The lucky passenger said she was pleasantly surprised by the award and that she did not expect such a beautiful end to her holidays in Croatia. She said that she had wonderful time and that she and her family will certainly return to Croatia in the future.
I am not an expert on flight schedules, but even I can see that there is a trend developing...
More than 80 destinations servicing Split this summer, from 43 different carriers. Impressive stuff, and many destinations are flying to the Dalmatian capital for the first time.
But another story, which is also worth monitoring. Having made their seasonal plans, a few airlines are putting on extra flights for the peak season. The latest is Iberia from Madrid, which will add a fourth weekly flight from July 27, according to Aerocroatia - schedule below.
As previously reported on the site, there has been a significant upswing in flights from France to Split for the 2013 season, with almost 20 French cities connected to the Dalmatian capital.
More good news for French tourists wanting to visit Dalmatia today, as Transavia will increase its flights from Paris Orly to Split from July 15 to September 2, according to Aerocroatia. Flight schedule above.
Split airport is getting busier! With tourism on the Dalmatian coast increasing, more and more airlines are flying into Split, bringing more passengers through the airport.
And yet, despite the increasing amount of traffic coming through the airport, information is relatively hard to find about services and general information. Please find all relavent information about all aspects of the airport (with contact details) below. Much of the information is taken from the official Split airport website.

Passenger Warning
In order to protect air traffic passengers, EU introduces a limit concerning amount of liquids allowed to be carried in hand baggage, in the year 2006. These protective measures are applied at all EU, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland airports, and are also mandatory at the Republic of Croatia airports.
The liquids include: beverages, oils, perfumes, lotions, gels, mixtures of liquid and solid contents, containers under pressure such as shaving foams, gels, deodorants, perfumes and other items of similar content.
Only liquids in individual packages of up to 100 ml or 100 g volume, put in transparent, resealable plastic bag, may be carried inside hand baggage. Maximal bag volume is 1 litre. Bag must be completely closed (see picture).
Passengers are still allowed to:
- carry above mentioned liquids if they are packed in hold baggage. New regulations apply to hand baggage, only;
- carry inside hand baggage liquids used during flight for medical purposes, or for special nutritional needs, including baby food. At request of person in charge, passenger shall prove the need to use them.
- If passenger flies from any EU airport to Republic of Croatia destinations, on direct flight or with transit at some other EU airport, he can carry on board liquids (drinks, perfumes …) bought in shops which are behind Boarding Pass Control and / or Security Check. Liquids purchased in that manner must be put in transparent plastic bag (STEB). In the year 2008, EK 820/2008 Regulation came into force, according to which air traffic passengers, flying from Croatia and with transit at some EU and Switzerland airport, are again allowed to carry liquids into aircrafts, provided that they are bought in airport Duty Free Shops, after Security Check and Boarding Pass Control. This Regulation refers to Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Rijeka, Pula and Zagreb airports. Stated permission is valid for goods purchased within 36 hours of transfer and packed in transparent plastic bag (STEB). Bag must be sealed, so that any attempt to open it and affect its content must be visible.
