GlobalLogic Developing Most Advanced Self-Dosing Insulin Regulation System

February the 11th, 2022 - The Croatian branch of GlobalLogic, a well known company, has become a well recognised brand here in the City of Zagreb. It now has a truly remarkable project to boast of...

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Sergej Novosel Vuckovic writes, more than 100 software engineers are employed here in Zagreb in the Croatian branch of the American company GlobalLogic, specialising in digital engineering and product design, especially in the automotive industry and communications, as well as in finance.

GlobalLogic, owned by Japan's Hitachi Group since last year, recently announced that it has surpassed the figure of more than 10,000 digital engineers in its centres here in Europe (Croatia, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Ukraine), as well as outside of Europe in Israel, which is 70% more than in 2019, the record pre-pandemic year.

According to GlobalLogica Hrvatska/Croatia, this is a consequence of both organic growth and mergers and acquisitions, and they consider their very impressive five-digit number of employees to be a turning point.

This "tone" is definitely set to continue this year, offering 1,600 vacancies across Europe. Here in this country, in particular, they constantly have dozens of job advertisements on the market, which already sets them aside from the majority of other employers.

"Our employment potential is even greater, because in the last two years we've entered many technological areas and we're intensively looking for employees in the field of embedded solutions, Cloud and Big Data," explained director Vladimir Kosanovic. Here they work on dozens of projects from the automotive, telecommunications, technology and healthcare sectors, mostly for clients from across the pond in the US and closer to home in Germany.

“Some of the bigger and more interesting projects are the migration of business to the cloud, ie the transformation of monoliths into micro-service architecture in Azure for a leader in the external workforce management sector. As part of that, we have several projects in which our teams have a very important role in coordinating 26 teams at the global level,'' explained Kosanovic. That's not all, either. After recently establishing a healthcare vertical, the Croatian GlobalLogic team is now facing a few new challenges.

“They're working on the development of the most advanced self-dosing insulin regulation system. This is a very interesting and demanding project that involves certification according to the most demanding criteria. The device should help diabetics when they go to regulate their blood sugar levels by automatically applying insulin. With the help of experts from the group and our knowledge in the field of installation solutions, we're successfully building this vertical as well,'' revealed the head of the Croatian branch of this impressive company.

However, we shouldn't neglect what is most characteristic of GlobalLogic, which is Croatian as much as it is global, and that is the development of software for the automotive industry.

“We're traditionally strong here and we're working on safety projects and the development of various functionalities of the vehicles of the future. In addition, in the financial industry, we work for the largest and fastest growing B2B electronic payment network in the world, Bottomline. We're also working on the development of software for small household appliances,'' added Kosanovic.

GlobalLogic also touched on pay in their transparency. Kosanovic was not exact in numbers, but noted:

"Salaries depend on the technology and experience of individual engineers, but in general it can be said that GlobalLogic offers an excellent salary, it's very competitive in the field of IT, but we look at employee satisfaction holistically, taking into account various tangible and intangible benefits. Not least, we take into account responsible and competent managers, a factor that is extremely important to potential employees, according to our experience, and confirmed through research,'' said Vladimir Kosanovic, concluding that this year, GlobalLogic will continue to invest in its blossoming Croatian subsidiary.

Car Hacking Protection Solution Being Developed in Zagreb

November the 7th, 2020 - Car hacking is the latest issue facing modern vehicles, and innovative car hacking protection systems and solutions are being developed right here in Zagreb.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Sergej Novosel Vuckovic writes, modern cars are no longer just vehicles that we spend little time thinking about unless we're either lusting after an extortionately expensive model, we're running low on fuel or we're making sure they're properly serviced and insured.

In their own way, cars are the latest in the application of new technologies, mobile data centres, primarily in connection to the Internet, which provides drivers and users with an additional level of service and comfort, but at the same time making the car vulnerable. Due to their increasing levels of connectivity, car hacking crimes have jumped by an incredible 600+  percent from 2016 until today, according to data from Upstream Security.

Vehicle safety is under threat in a way that we haven't experienced before, and those who are involved in the development of car hacking protection solutions are the experts working at GlobalLogic Croatia, a branch of an American company, a leader in product engineering, especially for the automotive industry. Here in Zagreb, they are developing innovative car hacking protection solutions for application in the field of security, communication and optimisation of algorithms in cars, as they explained from GlobalLogic Croatia.

''As entertainment and security systems are connected to the internet and are, as such, vulnerable to potential attacks by unauthorised persons, car security professionals must increasingly take special care to prevent such attacks from happening to them. Computers in cars connected to the Internet are becoming more efficient, and driving is safer, cheaper and more comfortable. We're already seeing autonomous vehicles, and people's expectations from entertainment and safety systems are constantly increasing. This means that in-car IT systems will have to handle an increasing amount of data, which is equal to the greater possibility of attack by cybercriminals. The user often allows unauthorised access to their vehicle's systems unknowingly via their smartphone, a poorly secured WiFi network or an insecure car in the car park,'' warned Vladimir Kosanovic, the director of GlobalLogic Croatia, adding that in the future, more money will need to be invested in the prevention of car hacking.

According to Kosanovic, this is also a challenge for software engineers who, in addition to mechanical security, must also work on digital car security, in order to thwart previously unimaginable hacker deeds such as manipulating a moving car engine or a vehicle's brakes, changing speedometer readings, opening locks and windows, and switching off the lights.

In Croatia's GlobalLogic office here in the capital, they are busy creating car hacking protection solutions and software tools that will protect millions of lines of code in the car's software as much as possible.

Zagreb Experts Working on Cars of the Future for Large International Brands

Croatia is a small country that continuously spawns an enormous amount of talent across all fields. From the world of science and medicine to innovation, sport and art, this country has a lot to give. Zagreb experts from one large company with a branch here in Croatia are dipping their toes into the future...

As Darko Bicak/Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 20th of July, 2020, Zagreb experts working for GlobalLogic Croatia, a multinational company in the product engineering segment, are participating in the development of a system for the cars and other vehicles of the future, and recently a prototype of an autonomous car model was developed in one of its branches in Poland.

As explained by Josko Rogulj, programme director at GlobalLogic Croatia, the car is based on the Suzuki Samurai model made entirely with the help of a 3D printer. It is an electric vehicle, and thanks to the Raspberry Pi minicomputer, it can be connected wirelessly to a central system that performs complex data processing operations.

The plan is to implement advanced functions of the driver assistance system, which will, among other things, enable the identification of traffic signs and the detection of pedestrians, animals and various other objects on the road.

"Zagreb experts from the city's office work every day on software improvements for the cars of the future for some of the world's largest brands. The automotive industry is among those which are changing rapidly and in which the shifts in the coming years will be enormous.

We're working on security systems, such as software for vehicle control systems, as well as on infotainment and communication systems, which are much more visible to the user. Autonomous vehicles are our present, and very soon there will be more and more of them on our roads,'' assured Josko Rogulj.

Otherwise, GlobalLogic is headquartered in the famous Silicon Valley, USA, and in addition to its Zagreb office, it has thirty engineering centers and design studios and employs more than 14,000 professionals worldwide.

US Company in Croatia: GlobalLogic Develops GLOFace Technology

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Sergej Novosel Vuckovic writes on the 6th of January, 2020, GlobalLogic, an American company that has an office in Zagreb, has developed a piece of very interesting technology known as GLOface, which also has the ability to detect possible illnesses based on an analysis of drivers' facial symptoms.

GlobalLogic, an American-owned software development company specialising in product engineering, which also has an office in the Croatian capital city with about a hundred employees working there in total, has developed GLOFace, a solution it says recognises driver problems while driving, just by analysing their faces.

For example, GlobalLogic's new innovation recognises signs of fatigue on the human face and informs the relevant services when needed, it is even able to detect the possible symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, all based on the analysis and ultra modern recognition technology of the driver's face.

"GLOFace identifies characteristic symptoms, such as facial asymmetry, grimaces which are done in pain, or ticks. If detected, the competent services, such as the emergency services, are notified immediately," a statement from GlobalLogic said.

The director for Croatia, Vladimir Kosanović, says that GlobalLogic's impressive new GLOface technology also offers functionalities that can help prevent traffic accidents. "All drivers are exposed to health risks, and this is especially true for professional drivers such as truck drivers.

''If they, for example, lose consciousness for some reason, that could lead to fatalities,'' he said.

This amazing new solution offers us a new chance to develop and apply biometrics in the automotive industry, such as verifying driver identity or personalising car settings based on the driver's face, as it has improved a recognition algorithm that more effectively identifies an individual.
