Zagreb to Finally Get Holocaust Monument and Synagogue

ZAGREB, February 2, 2018 - Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić on Friday promised members of the Israeli-Croatian Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group that before he retires from politics he will erect a monument to the Holocaust victims in Zagreb and rebuild the synagogue in the city's Praška Street, destroyed by the Ustasha regime that ruled Croatia in World War II.

Jewish Representatives Criticize Jasenovac Exhibition

ZAGREB, February 1, 2018 - Lawrence Weinbaum, the Director-General of the Israel section of the World Jewish Congress, an international federation of Jewish communities and organisations, on Wednesday severely criticised the exhibition staged at the Jasenovac Memorial Centre, describing it as one of the worst exhibitions he had seen.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day Marked in Zagreb

ZAGREB, January 28, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and her adviser on Holocaust issues Branko Lustig on Saturday laid flowers at the Moses statue at the Jewish section of Zagreb's Mirogoj cemetery on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Croatian Parliament Honours Holocaust Victims

ZAGREB, January 26, 2018 - The Croatian Parliament started its session on Friday by observing a minute of silence on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, with Speaker Gordan Jandroković saying that the victims should remain forever in the collective conscience of human kind so that such crimes could never happen again.
