Holy See State Secretary arrives in Zagreb
ZAGREB, 11 May 2022 - The Vatican's State Secretary, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, arrived in Zagreb on Tuesday for a three-day visit during which he will meet with the highest Croatian religious and political leaders, the Zagreb Archdiocese said in a statement.
Parolin is visiting Croatia on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its recognition and the 25th anniversary of the ratification of three agreements between the Holy See and Croatia.
The Vatican dignitary was welcomed at Zagreb Airport by a delegation headed by Zagreb Archbishop Josip Bozanić.
On Wednesday, Parolin will meet with members of the Croatian Bishops Conference, and later on the same day he will lead a religious service in Zagreb.
On Thursday, Cardinal Parolin is expected to meet with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and address the parliament, after which he will meet with President Zoran Milanović, the Zagreb Archdiocese said.

Vatican Secretary Of State Parolin To Visit Croatia In May
ZAGREB, 28 April 2022 - The president of the Croatian Catholic charity Caritas and Varaždin Bishop, Bože Radoš, announced on Thursday that the Vatican's Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, would visit Croatia on 10-12 May.
The Croatian Bishops Conference (HBK) in August 2021 invited Cardinal Parolin to visit Croatia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the ratification of agreements signed between the Holy See and Croatia, and the 30th anniversary of Croatia's recognition.
Speaking at a news conference after the 64th plenary session of the HBK, Radoš said that Parolin's visit had been confirmed by the Apostolic Nunciature in Croatia.

Msgr. Aldo Cavalli New Apostolic Visitator for Parish of Međugorje
ZAGREB, 27 Nov, 2021 - Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Aldo Cavalli as special apostolic visitator for the parish of Međugorje, the Holy See's press office and the website of the globally popular Catholic place of pilgrimage in Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Saturday.
Msgr. Cavalli was until now apostolic nuncio in the Netherlands.
The Holy See said in its brief statement that Cavalli has been appointed indefinitely.
Cavalli will continue the mission of Archbishop Henryk Hoser, who died of COVID-19 in Warsaw on 13 August.
Hoser was appointed apostolic visitator for Međugorje in 2018 to organise pilgrimages and pastoral care.
Msgr. Cavalli was born in 1946 in Lecce, Italy, and was ordained a priest in the Bergamo Diocese in 1971.
He served in several nunciatures as secretary and at the Holy See Secretariat of State.
He was apostolic nuncio in Chile, Colombia, Malta and Libya, and since 21 March 2015 he was apostolic nuncio to the Netherlands and the Holy See's permanent representative at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
The head of the Franciscan province of Herzegovina, Friar Miljenko Šteko, has welcomed the appointment of the new apostolic visitator.
The Holy See appointed the apostolic visitator for Međugorje in 2018.
The Međugorje phenomenon dates back to 1981 when six local children claimed that the Virgin Mary revealed herself to them. Some of them say that she still does.

Croatian President to Visit Holy See on Monday
ZAGREB, 12 Nov 2021 - Croatian President Zoran Milanović travels to the Vatican on Monday for an official visit, during which he will have a private audience with Pope Francis, the President's Office announced in a press release on Friday.
The President will be accompanied by his wife, Sanja Musić Milanović.
Milanović is scheduled to meet with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and the Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
He will visit the the Pontifical Croatian College of St Jerome, where he is due to meet with the Rector, Don Marko Đurin, and Croatian students of Catholic universities in Rome.
The former Croatian President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, met with Pope Francis in 2015 and presented him with a Croatian national football team jersey. She invited him to visit Croatia.
Pope Francis has never been to Croatia during the eight years of his pontificate.
