ZAGREB, October 1, 2018 - The Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy said on Monday the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, known as the Istanbul Convention, was in force as of today and that its implementation required the synergy of all departments, relevant state bodies and civil society organisations.

ZAGREB, September 20, 2018 - Any form of violence is unacceptable, and more should be done in preventing and combating all forms of violence, Minister of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Nada Murganić said on Thursday on the occasion of the National Day Against Violence Against Women.

ZAGREB, June 17, 2018 - The Women's Network NGO on Saturday called the government to withdraw a bill on amendments to the Criminal Law out of public debate so that it can be aligned with the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, known as the Istanbul Convention.

The Education Ministry has issued an instruction that people who change their gender have a right to receive certificates and diplomas with the new name.

ZAGREB, June 11, 2018 - The civil initiative "The truth about the Istanbul Convention" said on Monday that it had collected 377,635 signatures for a referendum on cancelling the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence which, it said, was a sufficient number of signatures.

ZAGREB, May 31, 2018 - The "Truth about the Istanbul Convention" civil initiative said on Wednesday it had asked the Public Administration Ministry for an additional 15 days for their signature-gathering campaign for a referendum to rescind the ratification of the convention because they were prevented from collecting signatures in some places.

ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 - The Truth about the Istanbul Convention civil initiative on Wednesday reported that in the first week of collecting signatures in a campaign to call a referendum on revoking the Istanbul Convention, it had collected 215,000 signatures, and that they still needed 160,000 signatures for a referendum to be called.

ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 - Members of the Women's Network of Croatia held a protest outside the government offices on Wednesday, demanding speedy and efficient implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, known as the Istanbul Convention, and warning that since its ratification by the parliament three women have been killed.

ZAGREB, April 21, 2018 - "The Truth about the Istanbul Convention," initiative comprising several civil society organisations, has established an organising committee for voters to call for a referendum on repealing the Istanbul Convention and called on citizens to sign their petition between May 13 to 27 and help collect 400,000 signatures required for a referendum to be called.
