Croatia's Sara Luzar-Smajić in Action at KSW 72 this Saturday

July 21, 2022 - Rising Croatian starlet Sara Luzar-Smajić (4-1) is back in action this Saturday, July 23, at KSW 72 in Kielce, Poland. She faces Polish striker Emilia Czerwińska (1-0).

Zagreb native Smajic has emerged as one of the top female prospects in Europe since making her KSW debut last year. The 27-year-old has won back-to-back fights in the promotion, including this hard-fought victory over Natalia Baczyńska last time out, and will be aiming to make it three in a row this Saturday.

With the KSW women's flyweight title laying vacant, a win here for either fighter could signal a potential title shot. However, Smajic faces arguably her most dangerous opponent to date in Czerwińska, a multiple time world kickboxing champion who won her MMA & KSW via knockout.

KSW 72 will be headlined by a potential title eliminator between Tomasz Romanowski (15-8) and Andrzej Grzebyk (18-5) and the card will feature notable European stars such as Norway's Emil Meek (9-6), undefeated Frenchman Oumar Sy (6-0), Portugal's Gustavo Oliveira (8-1), Luxembourg's Yann Liasse, and the Netherlands' Brian Hooi (17-8).

May 24, 2022 - KSW 70 takes place this Saturday, May 28, at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, and will feature two of Croatia's most popular fighters.

Ivan Erslan (11-1) has a massive opportunity to take a step back towards a title shot in the KSW light heavyweight division as he faces Polish power-puncher Rafał Kijańczuk (11-4). The 30-year-old was originally scheduled to fight at KSW 67 in February, however, two opponents pulled out due to injury and now the ATT Zagreb fighter is raring to go.

An impressive win for either fighter could signal a potential title shot against new KSW light heavyweight champion Ibragim Chuzhigaev.

Hailing from Zagreb and training out of the UFD Gym in Germany, Smajić made a successful start to her KSW career with a unanimous decision win over Spain’s Aitana Alvarez at KSW 63 last September. The 26-year-old is now aiming to build upon this win and make a push toward the vacant KSW women’s flyweight title.

Roberto Soldić Knocks Out Mamed Khalidov to Become KSW Double Champion!

December 19, 2021 - The best Croatian MMA fighter Roberto Soldić knocked out the legendary Mamed Khalidov at KSW 65 on Saturday night, adding the KSW middleweight belt to the previously won welterweight belt!

Khalidov has achieved 35 victories, seven defeats, and two draws in his professional career until Saturday, and Soldić entered the ring with a 19:3 ratio in the MMA against a fighter who has been in KSW from the very beginning, and who from 2007 to 2017 had 20 consecutive fights without defeat in that promotion. Only in this KSW did he start with a win and a loss, then record six consecutive wins and get a career fight opportunity, reports Index.hr.

Soldić used it in the best possible way and with this victory, which KSW was called "one of the greatest in Europe", he reached the title.

Both fighters started aggressively from the first second, with strong kicks to the legs and body. Soldić was focused, dodged the dangerous attempts by the experienced Khalidov and quick counterattacks. Minor problems were shown in the middle of the opening round when the belt defender knocked the Croatian fighter to the ground, but he did not manage to threaten him more seriously.

Kicks marked the beginning of the second round in which Soldić knocked down Khalidov, took the upper position, and hit him with his elbow before he got up and continued to punish him with kicks. The fight then briefly stopped.

Soldić then continued to move well, exert pressure and defend himself from the blows of a more experienced fighter. At one point, he sent Khalid to the ground from a counterattack with left crochet, and recorded a victory in the biggest fight of his career.

"I'm not surprised, I believe in my hands, wrestling and fitness. Mamed is a legend and will be a legend forever. Thank you for the fight. I trained every day. It's my life. I believe in myself, I know this game, I have self-confidence and whoever is in front of me is a big problem," said Soldić after the victory.

KSW Pula Area: Biggest European MMA Organization Looking to Host September Spectacle

April 23, 2021 - The KSW Pula Arena event is scheduled for September 4, bringing Europe's biggest MMA fighters to the world-famous arena.

The leader of the Polish KSW, the strongest European MMA organization, visited Pula and the world-famous Pula Arena. A martial arts spectacle should take place in the Roman amphitheater at the beginning of September, which was revealed to Gol.hr by Martin Lewandowski.

"I was here 20 years ago; my wife reminded me of that. When I saw Arena, I said it was my dream to bring KSW here. Then, honestly, I forgot. But my two associates came up with the idea."

After months of negotiations, September 4, 2021, was confirmed as the date.

"We want to spread the KSW brand here in Croatia and make an event every year. This place is unique. There used to be a gladiatorial arena, and I think fights have to happen here."

KSW performances are viewed in more than 200 million households. It will be a new big promotion of Pula and Croatia.

"We have a great signal range, not just television but streaming. We are known for the quality of matches and production."

Roberto Soldić and Antun Račić are already big stars of KSW, but Lewandowski wants to promote other Croatian fighters.

"I came here to establish a connection between Pula and KSW; if we succeed, we will come every year."

Lewandowski even tried to persuade Nova TV expert co-commentator Zelgo Galešić to an exhibition fight.

"He is stubborn. He disagrees with me on that, but he wants to participate in the organization," revealed the first man of KSW.

The host Zelg Galešić revealed how the cooperation came about.

"I presented the Arena to them before, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful stages and the only true stage of martial arts. It would be a shame not to bring one MMA event here, especially at that level. Those stories have been going on for two years now, and because of the pandemic, they are now watching the open spaces. That's how the Pula Arena came in as the perfect stage for that."

"It will tour all the front pages of all media in the world," Galesic said.

Francisco 'Croata' Barrio Gets First KSW Win

January 31, 2021 - Francisco 'Croata' Barrio registered his first win inside the KSW promotion against Poland's Bartłomiej Kopera.

Last night saw the first KSW event of 2021. KSW 58 took place in Lodz, Poland, and it proved to be a mixed night for Croatian fighters.

Francisco 'Croata' Barrio (8-2) registered his first win inside the KSW promotion with a unanimous decision win over Poland's Bartłomiej Kopera (9-7) in the opening bout of the night. It was another tough fight for the ATT Zagreb fighter, but he used his high-level wrestling abilities to control Kopera over the course of the fight.

Trio of Croatian MMA Stars in Action this Saturday at KSW 58

January 25, 2021 - KSW's first event of 2021 takes place this Saturday, January 30, in Lodz, Poland, and will feature a trio of Croatian MMA stars.

Aleksandar Rakas (16-7) is back and will finally make his long-awaited promotional debut this weekend. The Team Cro Cop fighter was originally scheduled to compete at KSW 51 in Zagreb at the end of 2019. However, an unfortunate late injury forced him from that card, and he has not been in action since. After representing Croatia worldwide in MMA, Rakas will now make the walk into the KSW Arena this Saturday against Poland's Michal Michalski (8-4) in a potential 'fight of the night.'

Making his second appearance in KSW will be Francisco 'Croata' Barrio (7-2). The Croatian-Argentinian is a Pan Am wrestling medalist and almost qualified for the Olympics before switching to MMA. Training out of ATT Zagreb, the 31-year-old stepped in on late notice at KSW 56 last November and, despite being out of his weight category, pushed the undefeated Mateusz Legierski the distance in a hard-fought decision loss. Now Barrio is back in his natural weight class and meets Bartłomiej Kopera (9-6) in an important fight for both athletes.

Finally, Pula's Daniel Bazant (4-1) will make his KSW debut this Saturday. A student of Croatian MMA legend Zelg Galešić, Bazant has the biggest opportunity of his young career this Saturday when he faces the undefeated Robert Ruchała (4-0)

KSW 58 will see undefeated French sensation Salahdine Parnasse (14-0-1) defend his KSW featherweight title against exciting Brazilian Daniel Torres (11-4) in the main event, while Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting Szymon Kolecki (8-1) meets German veteran Martin Zawada (29-15-1) in the co-main.
