June 5, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as a LOT Croatia expansion is on the horizon due to an increasing number of Polish tourists booking a Croatian holiday. 

Ex Yu Aviation reports that Polish airline LOT will expand its presence in Croatia beyond the eight routes between Poland and Croatia this summer. LOT currently serves five cities in Croatia with 170,000 seats on sale between Poland and Croatia this season alone. Namely, from Warsaw to Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, and Rijeka, from Krakow to Split, from Rzeszow to Zadar and from Zielona Gora to Rijeka. The Polish airline's main competitors between Poland and Croatia are Wizz Air and Ryanair.

“This summer we will fly 28 times per week between Poland and Croatia. Most Polish nationals come to Croatia by car. However, I hope that we will jointly develop solutions so that we can save our compatriots a car trip and that everyone can fly with LOT. Last year, we transported over 33,000 Poles to Croatia, and we hope for a much better result this year. I also hope that Croats will visit Poland in greater numbers," said the carrier’s CEO, Rafał Milczarski.  

"Croatia is becoming more and more popular among our passengers each year and is becoming of interest for travelers outside of Warsaw as well. As we continue to increase our offer, both Zagreb and Croatia as a whole are becoming popular for short weekend breaks as well," he added.

“Our performance in Croatia is the result of consistent work by our team as well as the growing popularity of Croatia in Poland and the increasing number of Poles who want to come to Croatia within two hours," said LOT Board Member for Commercial Affairs, Michal Fijoł.  

Ex Yu Aviation adds that Zagreb Airport has seen a growing demand from secondary cities in Poland. Before the pandemic, Zagreb saw a lot of traffic from Poland’s second-largest city Krakow, with over 5,000 people traveling between the two cities in 2019 that year on a single itinerary. The cities of Gdansk, Wroclaw, Poznan and Katowice followed.

LOT has bases in Krakow and Katowice, meaning Zagreb could be served with Embraer E170, E175, and the Dash 8 turboprop which can seat 70-80 passengers.

ZAGREB, 4 July, 2021 - Rijeka Airport, which is located on Krk island, said on Sunday that Lufthansa was returning with flights to Munich and Frankfurt, that almost all Eurowings flights had been reinstated, and that three new Polish destinations had been arranged with LOT.

"In turnover terms, the first Saturday in July, with nine regular daily international flights, looked like those in the times before the COVID-19 pandemic," the airport said.

The German national airline is returning to Rijeka Airport after two years with two flights on Sunday - one to Munich, which was introduced in 2019, and a new one to Frankfurt, the airport said, adding that both flights would operate until October.

On Saturday, 123 passengers arrived on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt and 40 from Munich.

The low-cost Eurowings has reinstated flights from Rijeka to Düsseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg as well as introducing a flight to Cologne as of yesterday. Flights to Stuttgart are expected to be reinstated on 31 July.

On Saturday, 86 passengers arrived on a Eurowings flight from Berlin, 123 from Hamburg, 140 from Cologne and 130 were expected from Düsseldorf in the evening.

All Eurowings flights are expected to operate every Saturday until the end of October.

Rijeka Airport and the Polish national airline LOT have arranged three new destinations in Poland  besides Warsaw, which was introduced last year - Szczecin, Olsztyn and Zielona Gora.

This year's first LOT flight from Warsaw landed on 19 June, those to Szczecin and Olsztyn took off yesterday and the first one to Zielona Gora is expected today. The flights to the three new destinations will operate once a week, on weekends, until the first weekend in September, while those to Warsaw will operate until early October.

May 29, 2021 - There are 180 Polish tourism representatives in the Zadar area at the moment to promote the new LOT Warsaw-Zadar flight.

HRTurizam reports that to promote the Warsaw-Zadar flight, the Polish national airline LOT, in cooperation with the Croatian Tourist Board, i.e., the CNTB Representation in Poland, the Zadar County and Zadar Tourist Board, and Zadar Airport, organized the arrival of 180 guests and representatives of the Polish tourism sector in Croatia.

Among the passengers on the flight are representatives of 17 Polish airports, the most important Polish tour operators and agencies, and 22 journalists from the most important Polish media, who are in Zadar and Zadar County on May 28 and 29.

"The Polish market is among the top five of our most important markets, and the stay of influential Polish guests in the Zadar County will further strengthen the tourist connection between our two countries. LOT has announced eight airlines from Poland to five Croatian airports this season, so I believe that in the coming period we can expect excellent numbers from Poland, especially in Dalmatian counties that Poles traditionally prefer," pointed out the director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić during the reception of the Polish tourist delegation.

The President of the LOT Management Board Rafał Milczarski, the Member of the LOT Management Board Michał Fijoł, and the President of the European Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (ECTAA) and the Polish Chamber of Tourism Paweł Niewiadomski also arrived in Zadar County.

LOT CEO Milczarski stressed that their passengers fly safely within Poland, but also around the world. "Those of us that flew here to Zadar on this special flight want to show everyone that Croatia is open and that we believe that Croatia is a safe destination," said Milczarski, adding that he will personally spend this summer with his family in Croatia.

"According to the latest research, 79 percent of Poles want to travel to Croatia, which, you will agree, are great results. With more and more good airlines, a large number of charter flights, and standard car traffic, we can expect a huge number of Poles in Croatia this year," said ECTAA President Niewiadomski.

All participants will be divided into six groups that will individually visit Pag, Vrana Lake, and Pakostane, the island of Ugljan, Starigrad - Paklenica, Biograd, Nin, and Zadar. In addition to the natural beauties of the destination, participants will be introduced to the traditions of Pag lace and salt, eno-gastronomic offer, and numerous cultural and historical sights from Zadar County.

"I am delighted that Zadar County will be able to present all its beauties to the Polish tourism sector and journalists on this occasion. I sincerely hope that this visit will contribute to the development of tourism and good relations between the tourism industry of our countries," said the director of the CNTB Representation in Poland, Agnieszka Puszczewicz, thanking everyone who helped in the implementation of this project.

May 12, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 8 LOT lines to Croatia will operate this summer to five Croatian airports!

Croatian Aviation reports that Polish national airline, LOT Polish Airlines, plans to operate regular flights to five Croatian airports in the summer season. We bring you the planned flight schedule, currently confirmed by the airline.

After a short break without operations in January and February, the Polish LOT resumed traffic to Zagreb with the first day of the summer flight schedule this year. The line is currently in operation three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and the company will gradually increase the number of operations. It will operate 6 times a week during the peak summer season between Zagreb and Warsaw. Before the pandemic, LOT operated twice a day to Zagreb.

Lines to Dubrovnik Airport

At the end of April, the line between Warsaw and Dubrovnik started operating twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On this line, there will be an increase in the number of operations. The company plans to run to Dubrovnik four times a week.

In addition to the line from Warsaw, LOT will resume traffic on the line from Poznan, which will be in operation from June 3, once a week, every Thursday. From June 19, the third line to Dubrovnik will be introduced, from Krakow, also once a week, on Saturdays.

Lines to Zadar Airport

This summer, LOT will also have two lines to Zadar. The line from Warsaw will operate from June 19, once a week, on Saturdays, and from the same date, the line from Rzeszów will also be in operation once a week.

The company has already resumed traffic on the line between Warsaw and Split. The line is in operation twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, and LOT plans to keep two flights a week on this line throughout the summer season.

Return to Rijeka Airport as well

Good news for Rijeka airport, too! Although the company had previously considered canceling the route to Rijeka and withdrew it from sale, flights are now available for booking again, and LOT plans to resume traffic on the line between Warsaw and Rijeka from June 19 with one flight a week, on Saturdays.

On the routes to Croatia, LOT plans to use Embraer aircraft (170, 175, 190, 195), but already on the first flights to Dubrovnik, the company used a larger capacity aircraft - B737-800.

This flight schedule is a planned schedule of the airline which, in case of higher demand, will react by introducing additional flights, but also cancel certain ones in case the booking is not satisfactory, which became the practice of all airlines after the global pandemic.

April 14, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Austrian flights to Split and Dubrovnik resume later this month, and LOT announces regular traffic between Warsaw and Dubrovnik from April 28.

Croatian Aviation reports that Austrian Airlines will resume operations on its seasonal routes from Vienna to Split Airport and Dubrovnik Airport by the end of April. Although these lines in previous years mostly started with traffic as early as the end of March, due to the impact of the pandemic, this will happen a month later this year. 

The Vienna - Dubrovnik - Vienna line will operate from April 23, once a week, every Friday, and as early as the beginning of May, two more flights a week will be added, so Austrian will operate to Dubrovnik every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

The Vienna - Split - Vienna line has been announced from April 30, also three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. E195 aircraft and aircraft from the A320 family have been announced on both mentioned routes.

Polish LOT Polish Airlines has announced the resumption of regular traffic between Warsaw and Dubrovnik. The line should be in operation from April 28. Until the second half of May, two flights a week have been announced, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. E195 aircraft have been announced on this route, which can carry up to 112 passengers in the Polish national transport fleet.

Both companies, Austrian Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines, have resumed traffic to Zagreb Airport. Austrian currently operates four times a week to Zagreb (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), and Polish LOT also operates to Zagreb on the same days. 

Furthermore, Ex Yu Aviation reports that Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will restart its seasonal line from Kyiv to Pula this summer and has announced its return to Split after seven years. March 22, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as LOT Warsaw-Zagreb flights will be renewed from March 28, 2021! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Polish airline LOT stopped traffic on the Warsaw-Zagreb route in January this year but has announced it is re-introducing a direct line between the two cities after just over 2 months.

Namely, due to weak demand and passenger restrictions, LOT briefly suspended traffic on the line between Warsaw and Zagreb, the only year-round line to Croatia.

The airline introduced a regular line between the two cities back in 1994, and traffic on it was interrupted three times, as the airline went through a restructuring process following the introduction of a complete lockdown in Europe. This winter, the line was interrupted due to weak demand.

The airline will resume traffic on this route from Sunday, March 28 (with the first day of the summer flight schedule). Four flights a week have been announced, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

The Embraer E170 and 175 aircraft were announced on the route in April, with the E170 having a capacity of 70 passengers, while the E175 can accommodate 82 passengers.

Lines from Warsaw to Split and Dubrovnik are currently announced from the end of April, and lines to Zadar from the beginning of June. Last year's new line between Warsaw and Rijeka is currently not on sale for this summer season.

LOT aircraft landed on Krk from the beginning of July to the middle of September 2020.

Although introducing this line in the 2020 summer flight schedule was a bold move by the airline, it is not clear why LOT decided not to continue operating to Rijeka in the summer of 2021. Namely, whatever result the airline achieved on this route last summer cannot be relevant given that at the time of the global pandemic, the occupancy of aircraft on almost all routes was extremely low.

The loss is not great considering that LOT to Rijeka operated briefly and only once a week. Still, even such a minimum frequency enabled direct air connections between Kvarner and the Polish capital.

January 13, 2021 -  The latest news for flights to Croatia as LOT and Air Serbia have no Rijeka plans this summer.

Croatian Aviation reports that LOT and Air Serbia are not currently planning to return to Rijeka Airport in the upcoming summer flight schedule.

The Serbian national airline announced in a press release a few days ago that it would not resume traffic on four international routes in the 2021 summer flight schedule, including the line between Belgrade and Rijeka.

The Belgrade-Rijeka line was introduced in June 2019 and operated twice a week on ATR75 aircraft. The line continued to operate in most of the 2019/2020 winter flight schedule, but traffic was suspended before the global pandemic due to weak demand.

In the summer of 2020, Air Serbia did not resume traffic on several routes to Croatia (to Pula, Rijeka, and Zadar). The airline confirmed that it would permanently cancel the line between Belgrade and Rijeka in the restructuring process.

The Polish national airline, LOT Polish Airlines, introduced a route between Warsaw and Rijeka in July 2020. Originally, before the global pandemic, the airline planned to operate on this route from the very beginning to the end of the summer flight schedule last year. Still, for objective reasons, this was not possible.

LOT aircraft landed on Krk from the beginning of July to the middle of September 2020, and the airline currently does not plan to resume traffic on this line in the summer flight schedule this year.

Although introducing this line in the 2020 summer flight schedule was a bold move by the airline, it is not clear why LOT decided not to continue operating to Rijeka in the summer of 2021. Namely, whatever result the airline achieved on this route last summer cannot be relevant given that at the time of the global pandemic, the occupancy of aircraft on almost all routes was extremely low.

The loss is not great considering that LOT to Rijeka operated briefly and only once a week. Still, even such a minimum frequency enabled direct air connections between Kvarner and the Polish capital.

It should be noted that the German leisure airline, Condor, also confirmed that it does not currently plan to reintroduce the Frankfurt - Rijeka route in the summer of 2021 but is leaving the possibility of changes until mid-March when it concludes its schedule for this year's summer flight schedule.

November 19, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as LOT regularly operates to Zagreb in December this year. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Polish national airline LOT has announced its flight schedule for December. There will be only one active line to Croatia, between Warsaw and Zagreb.

LOT's winter flight schedule in 2019 operated on the Warsaw - Dubrovnik line. However, this year, that line will not be in operation. As confirmed to Croatian Aviation by the Polish airline, there was an option of direct flights to Dubrovnik during the Christmas and New Year holidays, but due to the spread of the pandemic, the line will remain out of service.

LOT will thus maintain their presence on the Croatian market with one line, operating between the capitals of Poland and Croatia, Warsaw and Zagreb.

The airline will not increase the number of weekly flights on this route from mid-December, as is the case with many airlines, and one more flight per week is available only between December 7 and 12.

In the first week of December, LOT will operate to Zagreb on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and in the second week, additionally on Saturdays.

In the last two weeks of December, four flights a week have also been announced. Depending on the day, departures are available in the morning and afternoon.

LOT has significantly increased the number of routes to Croatia in this year's summer flight schedule and plans to operate on them next year as well. We will have to wait until January for the final confirmation of the flight schedule for the summer of 2021. Still, the number of Polish tourists in Croatia was relatively high even in the season behind us, marked by a global pandemic and declining demand in tourism and transport.

October 23, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as LOT operates to Zagreb in November and cancels its Dubrovnik service.

Croatian Aviation reports that Polish national airline LOT has announced its flight schedule for November this year. Compared to last year, the company will operate only to Zagreb, and the line to Dubrovnik has been canceled for this year's winter flight schedule.

This summer, LOT Polish Airlines operated on numerous routes from Warsaw and other Polish cities to destinations in Croatia (Zagreb, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik). Despite the corona crisis, more than 13 new lines have been introduced. Croatia was extremely accessible to Polish tourists by air bridges in this crisis summer season, which is confirmed by the number of arrivals of Polish tourists in the Republic of Croatia this year.

LOT returned to Croatia on July 1, and this summer, it operated on a larger number of routes compared to the summer flight schedule of the previous year.

In the winter flight schedule, which will take effect soon, LOT will keep only one active line to Croatia. Namely, the company plans to operate on the line between Warsaw - Zagreb. Four flights a week have been announced every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. E170 aircraft with a capacity of 70 passengers will operate on the route.

Flights on Wednesdays and Fridays will operate in the morning, while flights on Mondays and Saturdays are announced in the afternoon and evening, respectively.

Although LOT also operated on the Warsaw - Dubrovnik line last winter, this will not happen this winter. Due to the impact of the global pandemic and weak demand, the company has temporarily discontinued this line and plans to operate on it from the spring of next year. 

As confirmed to Croatian Aviation from this airline, LOT plans to operate next summer on all routes on which it operated this summer (only the Warsaw - Rijeka route is in question). Still, the decision on the realization of these flights will depend primarily on travel restrictions and demand itself.

Until the spring of next year, LOT will operate regularly only to Zagreb, to a much lesser extent compared to last year's winter flight schedule.

September 20, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Polish airline LOT will operate to four Croatian airports in October.

Croatian Aviation reports that the Polish airline LOT announced its flight schedule for October, in which, among other things, it confirmed traffic on four international routes to Croatia.

In October, LOT will operate to four airports in Croatia: Zagreb, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik. Numerous seasonal lines that were in operation this season will stop operating by the end of September, and most lines have already finished operating (such as the new Warsaw-Rijeka line).

The Warsaw-Zagreb route will also be in operation in October, but the company has canceled certain departures (October 5, 6, 12, 14, 19, 20, and 21), so on average, LOT will fly on this line five times a week. E170 and E190 aircraft have been announced on the route.

The Warsaw-Zadar line will operate until the end of the summer flight schedule, on October 24, once a week, on Saturdays. E190 aircraft have been announced on the route.

The Warsaw-Split line will be in operation until October 18, also once a week, every Sunday. This is the only route to Croatia on which LOT uses larger capacity aircraft, B737-800.

The Warsaw-Dubrovnik line will operate 3 times a week in the first week of October (Monday, Thursday, Saturday), and then until October 24, two flights a week are available, on Mondays and Saturdays.

It is to be expected that in this year's winter flight schedule, LOT will operate only on one line to Croatia, between Warsaw and Zagreb.

Recall, we announced earlier this week that in October this year, Croatia Airlines will continue to connect Croatia with the most important European capitals and transport hubs, and air connections within Croatia will continue to be provided to passengers on domestic scheduled flights. 

During October, the national airline's aircraft will directly connect Croatia with 15 international destinations (Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London Heathrow, Lyon, Munich, Paris, Rome, Sarajevo, Skopje, and Zurich). Passengers from these traffic hubs are provided with favorable opportunities for connecting flights worldwide, especially on the flights of Croatia Airlines partners from the Star Alliance.

In international regular traffic, Zagreb will be directly connected to 12 European destinations; from Split, it will fly to 10 European capitals, from Dubrovnik to two international destinations. From Rijeka, it will continue to fly to Munich.

In domestic scheduled traffic, Croatia Airlines planes will connect Zagreb with five Croatian airports (Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Pula, and Bol on the island of Brac), and flights on the Osijek - Split and Osijek - Dubrovnik routes will continue.

During the peak of the tourist season, the company's planes directly connected Zagreb with 14, Split with 11, and Dubrovnik with 7 international destinations.
