December 14, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Ryanair Dublin-Zagreb flights have been boosted around the holidays, and Russian carrier S7 will connect Moscow and Zagreb in January next year.

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has launched additional flights between Zagreb and Dublin, reports Croatian Aviation.

The Dublin-Zagreb line was introduced earlier this month when Ryanair also based its third A320 at Zagreb Airport. The airline currently operates on this line three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and additional flights have been announced on Wednesdays around Christmas and New Year.

Ryanair will increase the number of weekly rotations between the two cities from February 4 to March 25 next year, when it will operate on this line four times a week. In addition to the mentioned flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, flights are also introduced on Fridays, which is great for those who want to travel to Dublin (or Zagreb) only on weekends.

In the two months mentioned, Ryanair will offer a total of 12,240 seats on 34 return flights between Zagreb and Dublin. The new flights on Friday will generate nearly 3,000 extra seats.

Croatia Airlines also operates between Zagreb and Dublin, twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, until January 30 next year.

Croatian Aviation also reports that S7 Airlines will launch a new route between Moscow and Zagreb in January next year.

S7 Airlines operates between Moscow, Pula, Zadar, and Split in the summer flight schedule, and from January next year, regular flights to Zagreb International Airport have been announced.

The airline has confirmed to Croatian Aviation that it will operate between Moscow and Zagreb from January 23, 2022, once a week, every Sunday, until the end of March, i.e., the winter flight schedule. 

A320 aircraft have been announced on the flights between Domodedovo Airport and Zagreb, which have a capacity of 174 seats. For the 9 announced rotations from January, S7 will offer a total of 3,132 seats between Moscow and Zagreb.

December 7, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as British Airways Zagreb flights resume in December, and Aeroflot will operate between Moscow and Zagreb daily from December 23. 

The British national airline and OneWorld alliance member British Airways resumed regular flights between London and Zagreb in early December, reports Croatian Aviation.

Namely, on December 2 this year, a British Airways A320 aircraft landed again at Zagreb Airport with a total of 103 passengers after a short break. Since the beginning of the pandemic, British Airways has often made operational changes in its flight schedule, with most changes to its Zagreb route, which has been suspended several times for a shorter or longer period.

Zagreb suffered the same fate this autumn, but British Airways has resumed traffic on the route to Zagreb, expecting higher demand in December, as is usually the case, due to the Christmas holidays and New Year's celebrations.

Thus, from December 2 to 31, British Airways will operate a total of 14 return flights between Zagreb and London and offer an additional 5,000 seats. Along with British Airways, Croatia Airlines also operates on this route four times a week, while the Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair flies between Stansted and Zagreb.

According to current announcements, British Airways will stay in Zagreb until January 10 (flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays), and then will cancel the route again. For now, only until February 1, but it is expected that the airline will extend flights to Zagreb until spring.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that the Russian national airline Aeroflot will operate daily between Moscow and Zagreb from December 23 this year.

Aeroflot will send wide-body A330-300 aircraft to Zagreb this December, all due to the increased passenger demand when Russian citizens flocked to the Croatian capital in large numbers for vaccines.

In addition to the previously announced A330-300 aircraft, which will arrive in Zagreb on December 9 and 12, the third A330-300, which will land in the Croatian capital on Thursday, December 16, has been announced in additional changes.

By the end of this year, Aeroflot will offer more than 7,200 seats between Moscow and Zagreb on a total of 19 return flights, with 3 return flights with wide-body aircraft that we could see daily at Dubrovnik Airport this summer and on the last day of the summer season in Split. 

So far, Aeroflot has rarely sent wide-body aircraft to Zagreb, but this was mainly due to cargo. In the winter of 2019, Aeroflot flew to Zagreb on a daily basis using Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.

November 8, 2021 - Russian vaccination tourism in Zagreb is the latest trend, as Russian citizens flock to the Croatian capital to get jabbed with an EU-approved vaccine. Recall, Sputnik, the Russian vaccine, has yet to be accepted by the European Union - and EU digital Covid certificates are a hot commodity.

As TCN reported on Sunday, November 7, Russian citizens waited in line for hours at the small vaccination point in Zagreb's Kajzerica neighborhood last week, hoping they could get vaccinated. It's not that Russians are having trouble getting vaccinated in their country, but only the Sputnik vaccine is available, which has yet to be approved by the European Union. 

Thus, increased demand and high capacity on flights to Zagreb from Moscow this offseason are primarily thanks to the coronavirus vaccine. Many hope to get jabbed with Johnson & Johnson since only one dose is needed, after which they can receive an EU digital Covid passport to travel freely and avoid self-isolation or quarantine. 

Four Russian airlines, Aeroflot, PegasFly, Nordwind, and Azur Air, are currently operating on scheduled flights between Moscow and Zagreb. However, Azur Air was the last to introduce a route at the end of October this year, reports Croatian Aviation and 24 Sata. 

Russia's national airline, Aeroflot, operates between Zagreb and Moscow three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Although the announcement included A320 aircraft with a capacity of 158 seats, due to increased demand, larger A321 aircraft with 183 seats mainly operate on this line.

The planes are recording excellent occupancy, and there are only a few vacancies left on the flights in the following days. The question is whether Aeroflot will further increase its capacity to Zagreb by introducing wide-body aircraft. If there is no further increase, Aeroflot will offer almost 3,500 seats between Moscow and Zagreb by the end of the month.

Nordwind and PegasFly also operate between Moscow and Zagreb, twice a week - Nordwind on Mondays and PegasFly on Fridays. By the end of November, the two airlines offer 2,172 seats between Moscow and Zagreb. Flights are operated with E190 and B737-800 aircraft.

The newest carrier between Moscow and Zagreb is Azur Air, which operates to Zagreb from Vnukovo Airport, while other airlines use Sheremetyevo Airport. Azur Air operates to the Croatian capital only once a week, on Sundays, using aircraft type B737-800. By the end of November, this carrier will offer 1,512 seats between Moscow and Zagreb, and the company claims that if there is increased demand, it will react by introducing a B757-200 aircraft with a capacity of 238 seats.

By the end of November, the four mentioned airlines would offer a total of 7,164 seats between Moscow and Zagreb, and flights are available six times a week.
