As Novac/Barbara Ban writes on the 18th of December, 2019, the brand new, expanded section of the large and highly popular Pula City Mall is set to finally open its doors on Thursday, featuring well-known, international brands such as Bipa, Baby Centre, CCC, Intersport, Jysk, NKD, Orsay, Leggiero Loft, S'Oliver, Pepco, Tedi, McDonald's and KIK.
Pula City Mall has expanded, welcoming in an additional sixteen tenants and brands spanning 9,400 square metres in total.
As many as 306 new parking spaces will be available to buyers and visitors to the mall, 131 of which are in the garage of the new part of the mall. The total investment in the construction of the expanded part of Pula City Mall stands at around eighteen million euros.
In addition to enriching the region's shopping and trade offer, the expanded Pula City Mall has employed around 100 new employees, boosting the local economy and providing some good news for the Croatian labour market, which is a welcome change given the sea of negativity we seem to be constantly submerged in.
Additional funds have been added to the local budget through communal fees and other types of charges, and a significant contribution is being made to the development of infrastructure and the improvement of living standards in Pula, Istria and the wider region, the investors said when discussing Pula's new expanded shopping centre.
Otherwise, the investor and owner of Pula City Mall is a Croatian design company within the large Austrian MID Group.
In this company's impressive portfolio, there are numerous already realised projects, the most famous of which are the Garden Mall in Zagreb, TC Koprivnica, STC Osijek, STC Sisak, STC Valpovo, Pula City Mall, STC Umag and Galerija (Gallery) Poreč, which is also in Istria.

As Glas Istre/Mirjana Vermezovic Ivanovic writes on the 1st of October, 2019, at a former pebbled car park in Pula, two buildings quickly ''erupted''. The first, smaller, concrete building is located just off the main thoroughfare, and will house a McDonald's drive-in restaurant. Next to it is a much larger prefabricated facility, and that will house as many as sixteen international brands.
It's full steam ahead with the construction works at Pula City Mall, as the centre is being expanded by an additional 9,400 square feet.
As stated, the first, smaller facility will become home to a McDonald's drive-in restaurant. Drivers will therefore be able to buy their meals directly from the road, but there will also be a space available to them where they can sit and eat.
The employer, the Global Food (Globalna Hrana) company from Zagreb, is already looking for restaurant and cafe workers for Pula's future McDonald's, as well as public relations managers and other managers through the popular Mojposao (Myjob) portal.
In addition, a second, much larger prefabricated facility was erected to house sixteen global brands. A total of 306 parking spaces are planned in front of the facilities and 131 of them will be located in an underground garage that will be attached to the already existing one.
In parallel, channels are being dug, which will then be connected to Pula's sewer system. The construction site is full of workers, even several Indian employees have been noticed, and it seems that the project could be completed well before the deadline, which was otherwise initially set at the end of this year.
However, yesterday, Glas Istre was unable to find out anything about the Pula project from the investor's representative, the Zagreb-based MID Bau Real Estate (Nekretnine), which in charge of project development. However, it is known that an investor, AM IOTA Real Estate, is investing a massive eighteen million euros in this project. The works themselves are being carried out by the Elektro thermal systems company from Nova Gradiška.
Work first began back on June the 12th on plots of land that were bought from the City of Pula, as well as from private owners, which cover a total of 22.5 thousand square metres.

As Novac writes on the 15th of July, 2019, Pula's popular City Mall is set to expand across an additional 9,400 square metres in total, and an additional sixteen tenants will be accommodated within the new space, according to Tea Gršić, project manager and marketing manager of Zagreb's real estate investor, Mid Bau property, which is investing an enormous eighteen million euros directly into this huge project.
She also noted the fact that the exceptional popularity of the Pula shopping centre, as well as its successful business results so far have indicated the clear need to expand its existing capacities.
After the aforementioned investor purchased 22,500 square metres of land on the gravel car park area across from the centre from a private owner and the City of Pula, the necessary construction permits were quickly issued. The works on the Pula shopping centre's expansion began on June the 12th this year, and the new part should be complete by the end of this year. There will be 306 parking spaces for customers, of which 131 will be in the garage of the expanded part of the centre.
The investor hasn't yet revealed any of the new brand names which will be present following expansion, but it has been confirmed that no less than the American fast food giant, McDonald's, will be located within the newest part of the Pula centre, which will be a combination of a drive-in and the classic style of the McDonald's restaurant.
When it comes to the question of whether, besides the competition (Max City Centre) there are places for any other brands in Pula, the answer lies in the decision to expand itself. Namely, it is precisely the very extension of the Pula City Mall, considered to be a strategic decision, which will likely bring in more interested tenants to Pula's market.
