June the 6th, 2022 - Czech tourists and journalists arrived recently to the Northern Adriatic city of Rijeka from the Czech capital of Prague on the first RegioJet train to run this year.

As Morski writes, around 250 Czech rourists and a group of journalists arrived by the first train of this year from Prague to Rijeka, and the RegioJet train line which runs to this formerly industrial city is an extremely sought-after one with low prices, for which more than 40,000 tickets have already been sold. When it comes solely to the month of June, they are almost sold out.

It's worth noting that this train started running to the Republic of Croatia two years ago and immediately became a hit among Czech tourists. It seems that this year, following two coronavirus-induced years of stagnancy, the line could be even more sought after.

''It's a great pleasure for me to be able to bring Czech and Slovak journalists here. Some of them have already visited Croatia, and some have never otherwise been to Croatia. The Czechs love this beautiful, beautiful Croatia,'' said Eliska Nemejcova from the Prague Tourist Board.

The RegioJet train departed from Prague on Friday afternoon, carrying about 600 passengers. After Bratislava and the City of Zagreb, the train stopped in Ogulin, where it divided - some of the passengers left for Rijeka, and some headed further down south the the City of Split.

In addition to Czech tourists, both Czech and Slovak journalists arrived in Rijeka, and they will stay in Kvarner and get better acquainted with its tourist offer in a move organised by the Croatian Tourist Board, the Kvarner Tourist Board and local tourist boards, writes HRT.

RegioJet trains are bringing Czech tourists to the Republic of Croatia for the third year in a row now. Throughout June and September it will operate heading to Croatia three times a week, while in July and August it will operate daily. During the first year of establishing a tourist line to Croatia, RegioJet transported passengers to Rijeka, and from last year to, it also offered transport down to Split.

May the 17th, 2022 - The very first Prague Regiojet train will arrive from the Czech capital to the City of Rijeka on the Northern Adriatic coast on June the 3rd, but there will be nothing to speak of when it comes to the Polish line to Croatia this year, it seems.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, this year's first train of the Czech carrier Regiojet to Rijeka and Split departs from the City of Prague on June the 3rd, 2022. Tereza Ptackova, head of international projects at Regiojet, confirmed this for Rijeka portal Novi list, stating that the recognisable yellow Regiojet trains will run again via Zagreb to Rijeka and Split, but will not stop in the Hungarian capital of Budapest this year.

"The trains will run from June the 3rd to September the 26th, with them running on a daily basis throughout July and August, and three times a week in June and September. The route hasn't really changed. We still stop in the capitals of Prague, Bratislava and Zagreb. Some stops within the Czech Republic itself are set to differ from last year, but that is only because of the construction works," Ptackova explained.

The line goes Prague - Kolin, Havlickuv Brod - Zdar nad Sazavou - Brno - Breclav - Bratislava - Zagreb - Ogulin - Rijeka and Split. So, just like last year, the train will part in Ogulin, meaning part of the wagon will go to Rijeka, and part will head south to Split. Upon returning, the wagons will reunite into one composition in Ogulin.

This year, a new line from Poland was set to be launched. However, the events of the war in neighbouring Ukraine have put these plans on hold for now, with the Prague Regiojet train the only one set to run in 2022.

"The line from Poland to Croatia will not start running this year. We hope to start operations from Poland next year. During this extremely difficult situation, we're trying to help as much as possible, so we're transporting Ukrainian refugees from the Polish border town of Przemysl to the Czech Republic. In cooperation with Clovik v tisni, CD Cargo and Rail Cargo Logistics, we're also sending material aid into Ukraine,'' said Ptackova, adding that she didn't expect the war in Ukraine to affect ticket sales from the Czech Republic to Croatia whatsoever.

In terms of capacity, the head of Regiojet's international projects said that the capacity this year is more than 600 passengers per train, meaning that it is, once again, 15 wagons. Wagons with seating as well as sleeping cars will also be available.

“Perhaps the only change is that we've increased the number of so-called ''quiet wagons'' that are suitable for families with small children or the elderly. The trains will once again offer familiar comfort at very popular prices and tickets for the Prague Regiojet train have been on sale since March the 8th this year.

Ticket prices for the Rijeka range from 23.9 euros per seat, or 31.9 euros for a ticket in a sleeping compartment. Ticket prices for Split range from 36.1 euros for a seat and about 44 euros for a ticket in a sleeping car. Free services such as coffee, water, WiFi, an entertainment portal and the like are all entirely included in the ticket price.

This summer tourist season will be an excellent opportunity for people from the Czech Republic and Slovakia to travel to Croatia, but we also believe that the people of Rijeka and Split will use this opportunity to visit, for example, Bratislava or Prague,'' concluded Ptackova.

ZAGREB, 29 May 2021 - The first train within the Czech rail operator RegioJet's seasonal train service on the Prague- Zagreb-Rijeka/Split route arrived in Rijeka on Saturday morning, bringing more than 150 travellers to this northern Croatian seaport.

On Saturday afternoon, the RegioJet train is expected in Split.

Over 30,000 tickets have been sold to date for this train service this summer.

Last year, more than 60,000 passengers rode on this route.

In mid-May, Croatia's HŽ Putnički Prijevoz (HŽPP) rail passenger transport company signed a cooperation agreement with the Czech rail operator RegioJet on the train service on the Prague - Zagreb -Rijeka/Split route, after their successful cooperation last year.

The cooperation between the two railways will continue until 30 September and a total of 176 trains will be made available.

Trains will run three times a week in both directions during May and June while daily trains will run in July and August.

An agreement of partnership was signed by the two railways companies on a 10-year cooperation and partnership in activities and projects related to organising and promoting tour trains in Croatia.

May 13, 2021 - Great news for the summer as 700-1000 Regiojet tickets to Croatia are being sold daily, with a particular interest in Split. 

On March 10, the Czech railway carrier RegioJet started selling tickets for Croatia. This year, the line will run to Split, in addition to Rijeka. Regiojet also offers its passengers the possibility of booking accommodation in certain hotels in Porec, Crikvenica, the island of Krk, Makarska, and other destinations.

Aleš Ondrůj from RegioJet points out for HRTurizam that about 25,000 tickets for trains to Croatia and back have already been sold this year. Interestingly, they sell 700 to 1000 new tickets for the mentioned lines every day, which is proof of the great demand for Croatia.

"We already have trains sold out. We are very pleased with the results so far - ticket sales are accelerating every day," says Ondrůj from RegioJet.

In combination with bus transport from Rijeka and Split, RegioJet promotes and offers arrivals to as many as 56 destinations in Croatia, so this year even better results are expected than last year.

"As I mentioned, from this year RegioJet has introduced a line to Split, for which there is great interest. Thus, in Ogulin, the train will be divided into a part that goes to Rijeka and a part that goes to Split, and vice versa. There is a great demand for the line to Spit, and the first train to Split is already sold out. According to the current sales, 60% of tickets were sold for Split, and 40% for Rijeka," says Ondrůj.

When asked who their partners are in Croatia, Ondrůj points out that they cooperate with the same partners as last year and appreciate the cooperation with Croatian partners such as HŽ PP, HTZ, and the Tourist Boards of the Split and Rijeka regions.

"We are working with the same partners as last year. So mostly Croatian Railways PP, HTZ, and the Czech travel agencies Čedok and Mediterane Travel, which sell holiday packages, including accommodation and our tickets. Regarding bus transport, we also cooperate with our traditional partner Arriva and the company Čagalj Tours. In addition, many other travel agencies organize holidays in Croatia - for example, for young people on Zrće, and buy tickets on our trains and organize excursions to Croatia," said Ondrůj, adding that they also see reservations from Croatia to the Czech Republic.

"We also see reservations from Croatia where there is interest in visiting Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest. So we are delighted to have passengers from Croatia on our trains," concludes Ondrůj.

RegioJet trains to Croatia will depart on May 28 and will run until September 27, with them arriving in Croatia daily in July and August and three times a week in May, June, and September. Last year, RegioJet trains on the Prague-Rijeka line transported more than 60,000 passengers in both directions.

May 6, 2021 - Czech tourists are ready to travel, with over 20,000 purchasing tickets for the popular RegioJet railway line to Split this summer. 

Jutarnji List reports that over 20,000 Czechs have already bought a ticket for the famous Czech yellow train RegioJet, which will start bringing the first passengers to the Adriatic coast on May 28. Unlike last year, when the Czechs had the opportunity to travel exclusively to Rijeka by train, a line was introduced to Split this year, and the train will pass through Zagreb and Budapest.

RegiotJet announced the interest for all their lines, including the one to Croatia, is growing by 25 percent from week to week. Already this week, RegioJet reached the number of passengers they had only in mid-September last year, and the railway operator believes that the good traffic trends will continue. 

When looking at Croatia, up to 400 tickets are sold daily to Adriatic destinations, and the prices are affordable this year as well - from 23 to 50 euros one way, depending on the route and type of seat. This year, trains run on the same schedule as last year - they depart from Prague at 16:46, arrive in Rijeka on the second day at 10:13 in the morning, and in Split at 13:44.

On the return, the train departs Split at 15:51, from Rijeka at 19:55, and arrives in Prague the next day just after 13:00. 

In June and October, trains will run three times a week on the route to Croatia, while in July and August, the line will run daily.

Last year, the train brought 60,000 tourists to Croatia. This year, they'd like to bring 100,000. 

''We're very optimistic despite the ongoing pandemic. We believe that the situation with the coronavirus is going to calm down; in the Czech Republic, the numbers are already falling; here in Croatia, security is given by the Safe Croatia label for tourist facilities that are properly implementing safety measures. People are showing great interest in Croatia. We think that the demand will grow even more: young people are buying more tickets, while families are opting for tourist arrangements that we also offer,'' explained Ales Ondruj from RegioJet last month.
