September the 14th, 2022 - Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac is by far Croatia's most successful entrepreneurial story of the modern day. Referred to as Europe's Elon Musk, Rimac has done what nobody else has - created some of the world's most incredible hypercars in a country that doesn't even have an automotive industry to speak of. His impressive plan, the Rimac Campus, is also progressing very well.

The upcoming Rimac Campus, which will not only shine the spotlight on Croatia even more strongly in regard to entrepreneurship, investment and of course - the automotive industry, will also provide enviable employment opportunities to many who would likely have headed off abroad in search of the jobs they were educated for.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the absolutely stunning Rimac Nevera hypercar, as well as key components for future Rimac and Bugatti models, will be produced at the Rimac Campus in Kerestinac, which is currently under construction. The much anticipated Rumac Campus spans a constructed area of 100,000 square metres, and a total area of 200,000 square metres. It is worth an enormous 200 million euros in total.

Mate Rimac is no stranger to social media and frequently publishes posts, videos and photos about what he is currently working on, engaging well with an always interested audience. He recently took to his personal Facebook profile on which he published an impressive interactive 3D model of the current state of the construction site of the future Rimac Campus, which clearly shows that the works are progressing quite well indeed.

The completion of the first phase of construction of the Rimac Campus is planned for 2023, and in the long term it should become a workplace for around 2,500 employees.

The Livno-born entrepreneur has taken the world of cars by storm from a country that hasn't provided the best footing for going it alone, and his dogged determination is something Nikola Tesla, his fellow countryman, would be very proud of.

October the 10th, 2021 - Things are going full steam ahead at the construction site of the brand new Rimac Campus in Kerestinec, with works moving quickly and anticipations running high.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the village of Kerestinec, which lies just west of Zagreb, is the site of the up and coming new Rimac Campus which Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac decided on building not so long ago.

This massive project which will also become the new headquarters of the much loved Croatian company Rimac Automobili plans to have a kindergarten, organic food production, and even accommodation capsules instead of a classic hotel. It should all be over by 2023.

''The new complex will be a base for research, development and production, and will enable the company to grow from the production of prototypes and projects in small series to large-scale production of high-performance electric powertrains and battery systems for many global automotive companies.

The new location, based on the idea of ​​creating the best possible working environment for our employees from all over the world, is located just a few kilometres from the current headquarters of Rimac Automobili (also in Sveta Nedelja) and is located on a plot which spans 200,000 m2, while the area built on will reach about 100,000 m2.

The new Rimac Campus is expected to be completed by 2023,'' they stated from the company. They added that Mate Rimac wanted the new headquarters of his company to embody not only the character of the brand but also the character of the employees.

''The architects of this project drew their inspiration for the design of the new Rimac Campus from several sources, including the shape and movement of Rimac's own hypercar - the famous C_Two, as well as the speed itself,'' they described from Rimac Automobili.

August the 14th, 2021 - The world of Croatian construction has been somewhat shocked by the final choice of Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac about who will construct his much talked about Rimac campus.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Suzana Varosanec writes, the construction of the first phase of the Rimac Campus project in Kerestinec by investor Mate Rimac, the total construction price of which stands at an alleged 200 million euros, was entrusted to Facies from Strmec, a construction company owned by Josip Mandic.

As the sole founder of Facies, Mandic is also the company's director, while Josip's brother Marinko Mandic is the deputy director. Facies, a medium-sized enterprise, has as such been given the golden opportunity to see the company rise among the "big boys" with Rimac's decision.

The value of the first phase of the execution of the works on the Rimac campus' production and research facilities, which cover about 90,000 m2 and is due to be completed by the end of next year, is estimated at about 300 million kuna.

Although less known to the general public, Facies is far from a brand new company. For the last 20 years, the company has been active in the construction industry (construction is not the only business of the Mandic family) and it employs about 80 workers. However, as those familiar with the situation point out, this is a relative fact, both because of the susceptibility to changes based on market needs, and because of the network of subcontractors with whom Facies have been cooperating for many years.

In their concrete work, it is estimated that the construction part of the works presupposes the engagement of about 100 workers, which would indicate that Facies isn't in short supply, while the deadline for completion of the Rimac campus is considered to be realistic, it implies high intensity in the performance of the works.

The Rimac campus tender, for which there was a huge interest, has turned into an "unprecedented" event for the Croatian construction industry. About 10 companies reportedly applied, including several of the largest builders such as Kamgrad, Strabag and Radnik.

Information about the decision to entrust Facies with the Rimac campus construction resonated with those in the industry, causing quite the surprise. The builders don't want to comment on it officially, and they have only stated that it is the investor Mate Rimac's decision.

How Facies actually beat the biggest market players, which cannot be measured solely by the number of workers and the construction machinery that some of them have, is currently unknown. The question is whether the price offered was decisive, while according to some, the crucial thing lay with who could perform the entire job within the specified period of time and give solid, valid guarantees for the proper execution of the work.

In terms of key business indicators, pandemic-dominated 2020 wasn't good for Mandic's company. It resulted in a serious deficit in the part of total revenues, which, with a drop of a massive 72 percent, amounted to approximately 52 million kuna. Net profit fell from around 2 million kuna by around 86 percent.

At the beginning of the year, new construction contracts were signed by Facies, although their value hasn't been specified, but the company hopes that due to the construction momentum, 2021 be better year than the previous one turned out to be.

April the 17th, 2021 - The Rimac Campus project, which will work to further showcase what Croatia can offer to the automotive world through its most impressive entrepreneur, Mate Rimac, has taken another step towards fruition as the Sveta Nedelja Mayor, Dario Zurovec, signs on the dotted line.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Suzana Varosanec writes, the signing of the appropriate contract for the future Rimac Campus in Sveta Nedelja between CEO and founder Mate Rimac and Sveta Nedelja Mayor Dario Zurovec will start the wheels turning on a very significant cooperation.

With their signatures on the contract, the Rimac Campus project will officially be off the ground and firmly on track for 2023. Their new headquarters, with a capacity of 2,500 employees and at location only sixteen kilometres away from Zagreb, will cover 200,000 square metres of land in total.

The planned investments in the Rimac Campus project have been announced in the amount of more than 200 million euros - in the form of the construction on the new location which is expected by the end of the year, and its completion is planned for 2023, while on the other hand the size and ambitions of the new Rimac Campus project are so large that according to general estimates, it is set to be among the largest of its kind in all of Europe in terms of its various industries.

However, given the company’s rapid growth, the location is designed so that it can expand over time while still blending in with its natural environment. In the long run, the new location will, as stated, accommodate over 2,500 employees, which exceeds the current number of employees by more than 100 percent, and is therefore going to be divided into two different areas.

The first is the company's headquarters building, where the main functions, management and research and development centres will be located, as well as the offices of Greyp, a company for the production of electric bicycles, which was also founded by Mate Rimac.

March the 12th, 2021 - The location of the brand new Rimac campus has been revealed, and the condition of everything coming to fruition lies on one massive investment and a praiseworthy job creating promise.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Marija Brnic writes, the door to the realisation of the new Mate Rimac campus investment project is finally opening up. Sveta Nedjelja, in which Rimac Automobili is situated, has announced a public tender for the establishment of construction rights on an area covering a total of 199 thousand square metres, for which the construction of a production and research and development campus is planned, and for which the annual fee would be at least 0.10 kuna per square metre.

The right to construct on that piece of land would be contracted for 69 years, which means that the investor would pay Sveta Nedelja almost 20 thousand kuna a year. These are assets that were transferred to the ownership of Sveta Nedelja, whose spatial plan envisages the construction of such a campus in the area of ​​the old Erdödy castle in Kerestinec.

The tender envisages, among other things within the realm of the Rimac campus, the construction of a production plant, a testing laboratory, a research and development centre, an information and educational complex with complementary facilities for both regular users and visitors, from restaurants, dormitories for short stays to offices, exhibition and sales premises, and even the the construction of a smaller hotel boasting up to 100 beds. It will also be possible to build sport/fitness and recreational facilities for Rimac campus employees.

A few years ago when he initially announced his intention to build a campus, entrepreneur Mate Rimac explained that it would be a win-win situation for everyone. "The castle would be renovated, and the company that is the flagship of Croatian industry would be even more representative," said Rimac at the time, whose facilities were already being regularly visited by interested people from all over the world.

The criteria for scoring bids show that a minimum investment of 100 million kuna needs to follow, which will create at least 200 new jobs and employ 50 new highly educated members of staff, and the tender conditions show that the further investment process will proceed quickly, because the plan is to conclude a contract within 30 days from the selection of the best offer, and in the following eight days, the investor will be introduced to property, and they then have exactly three years left to realise the investment in the Rimac campus. The start of the investment must begin within twelve months, otherwise Sveta Nedelja may unilaterally terminate the contract should it so wish.

The tender will remain open until March the 23rd, 2021, and the selection of the offer will be announced in the next thirty days, which means that the investor would have all the predispositions to start investing in the brand new Rimac campus by the beginning of June.

It is unlikely that Mate Rimac will have a competitor in this process, because he drafted the entire project a long time ago himself and announced that he was looking for a unique location like this one for his campus in the vicinity of Zagreb and Sveta Nedelja.
