Smartwings Flights from Prague to Split, Dubrovnik Coming this Summer!

February 26, 2021 - Smartwings flights from Prague to Split and Dubrovnik will operate this summer!

Croatian Aviation reports that the Czech low-cost airline Smartwings has announced two routes to Croatia in the upcoming summer flight schedule.

Namely, Smartwings plans to connect Prague with Split and Dubrovnik this summer. In 2020, the company operated between Prague and Split, while the line to Dubrovnik was suspended for obvious reasons.

In the 2021 summer flight schedule, the company plans to resume traffic to both mentioned destinations later than in 2019.

The Prague-Split-Prague line will operate from May 1, once a week, every Saturday. From June 1 to October 10, daily flights on this line have been announced.

Smartwings will operate B737-800, B737-900ER aircraft to Split, and B737-MAX-8 aircraft have also been announced, or aircraft that received a permit for re-operation less than a month ago. Just yesterday, February 25, the company made its first commercial flight with this type of aircraft after the “MAX” aircraft's airworthiness approval was issued.

The Prague-Dubrovnik-Prague line will operate from the beginning of June to the beginning of October (June 1 to October 3). Smartwings currently plans to operate daily on this route, mainly with B737-800 aircraft.

In 2019, Croatia Airlines regularly operated for the last time in the summer flight schedule between Zagreb and Prague. This line did not work in 2020 and is currently not on sale for this summer season either.

It will still be possible to fly directly from Prague to Zadar. Ryanair introduced the Zadar-Prague line last summer, and this season it plans to operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, from May 1 to October 30. This well-known low-cost carrier alone will offer over 20,000 seats on the direct line between Zadar and Prague. At the same time, Smartwings will have a significantly higher capacity at its disposal to Split and Dubrovnik.

Flights to Croatia: Smartwings Stops Prague-Split, Edelweiss Alters Flight Schedule

September 9, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Smartwings stops Prague-Split, and Edelweiss alters its flight schedule to Split, Dubrovnik, and Pula.

Croatian Aviation reports that the Czech airline Smartwings will soon complete regular traffic on the Prague-Split route. It was one of only two lines between the Czech capital and Croatia this summer season.

Smartwings relatively quickly resumed traffic to Split, connecting it daily to Prague with B737-800 aircraft. It was also the only direct line between Prague and Split this summer season.

This year, Croatia Airlines did not resume traffic on its seasonal route Zagreb - Prague due to reduced demand caused by the global pandemic, while Czech Airlines previously suspended traffic to all Croatian destinations.

Last summer, Smartwings regularly flew to Dubrovnik, but this year the line was not in traffic, as were numerous charter flights to Split.

The company will operate daily on the Prague - Split route this week, while flights will be announced on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week. Smartwings will make its last flight this summer to Split on Sunday, September 20, thus concluding operations for this year towards the Croatian market.

The option of a direct flight between Prague and Croatia remains with the low-cost airline Ryanair.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Edelweiss Air, a Swiss leisure airline and subsidiary of Swiss, continues to operate to Croatia in September, despite restrictions. The line to Dubrovnik will be canceled earlier than originally planned.

The only Swiss line to Croatia this year, between Geneva and Dubrovnik, stopped operating at the end of August. The line was in traffic only once a week, every Saturday.

The partner company Edelweiss Air operates on the lines from Zurich to Croatia. The company will have three lines by mid-September, to Dubrovnik, Split, and Pula.

The Zurich - Dubrovnik line is open once a week, every Friday. That will be the case until September 18, when it will make its last flight on this route this summer season.

The Zurich - Split line will be in operation throughout September, twice a week, every Saturday and Sunday. From September 27, the company will keep one flight a week, every Saturday.

The Zurich - Pula line also remains in operation throughout September, once a week, on Saturdays. On all routes to Croatia, Edelweiss uses an A320 aircraft.

In September, Croatia Airlines offers direct flights to Zurich from Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik. A number of departures on these lines were canceled through the first half of September.

Flights to Croatia: Smartwings Connects Poland and Dubrovnik, EasyJet Boosts Pula

May 21, 2019 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for new flights to Croatia with updates from Dubrovnik, Pula, and Rijeka airports.

AvioRadar reports on May 19, 2019, that Czech airline Smartwings began ticket sales from Poland to Dubrovnik. Namely, the Czech carrier is operating charter lines for Polish Travel Service Polska, the daughter company of Rainbow Tours. The Katowice lines to Dubrovnik, as well as the Warsaw-Dubrovnik connection, are now available for sale as regular seasonal lines beginning on June 6, 2019. The charter flights between Warsaw and Dubrovnik began earlier.

Both lines will operate once a week, on Thursdays, until September 26, 2019. The third charter line between Gdansk and Dubrovnik will remain the same as last year and will have no tickets available for sale via Smartwings. Unlike last year, the charter lines between Bydgoszcz and Szczecin are no longer running. The previously announced charter line between Lodz and Dubrovnik has not been realized.

The Boeing 737-800 will operate on all lines.

AvioRadar also reports that British low-cost airline EasyJet will boost operations on the route between Pula and Gatwick (London) from June. In addition to last year’s three flights a week, which ran on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, new flights will operate on Mondays and Sundays from June 24 to September 9, 2019.

In addition to the Gatwick route, EasyJet also operates a trip from Southend Airport in London to Pula, which circulates twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, just like last year.

Thus, EasyJet will run seven flights a week between Pula and London. The Airbus A319 or the Airbus A320 will fly on these routes.

To conclude this Croatian flight announcement, TUI Airways has postponed its new route between Manchester and Rijeka, which is not even available yet for the summer of 2020.

However, TUI’s offer still includes one flight a week, on Thursdays, between Gatwick (London) and Rijeka. This route will operate from May 23 to October 17, 2019.
