February 21, 2021 - Marcos Rossello, the boss and owner of German charter company Sundair, is behind a new airline currently applying for the necessary permits in Croatia. 

Namely, aeroTELEGRAPH reports that Sundair's Marcos Rossello is hoping to introduce a new airline in Croatia.

“The plan is to launch at the end of April or beginning of May,” said Rossello in an interview with aeroTELEGRAPH, and added that they are currently working on obtaining the AOC, which stands for Air Operator Certificate.

The project is called Fly Air 41 - based on the aviation IT company, of which Rossello was once the managing director. However, the new airline will not necessarily keep that name.

"We don't want to comment on details yet," Rossello said.

The new airline should not be a subsidiary of Sundair and should not replace the German airline. Rossello vehemently contradicts such reports in the Croatian media. 

"Sundair is committed to Germany as a business location and to maintaining jobs in Germany," Rossello said. Sundair is also expected to leave its protective shield proceedings in the next two months.  

Recall, Sundair will operate to Brač Island this season from Dusseldorf and Berlin. 

Rossello's new airline hopes to open up new business areas in Croatia. 

"We are in talks with our business partners and also with tour operator Schauinsland-Reisen," concluded Rossello.

Ex Yu Aviation adds that this could be the second new airline to launch operations in Croatia this year, after Croatian start-up ETF Airways plans to work from April this year, given all necessary permits are received. 

ETF plans to focus on Croatia's coast, specifically Dubrovnik, Pula, Split, and Zadar, from France, Germany, and the UK. You can read more about ETF Airways HERE.

November 6, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Sundair operates to Brac from Berlin and Dusseldorf as part of its 2021 flight schedule, and more. 

Croatian Aviation reports that German charter airline Sundair has announced two new routes to Croatia in its 2021 summer flight schedule. Namely, Sundair will operate on the lines from Berlin and Dusseldorf to Bol on the island of Brac. 

German tour operators are already selling group and individual arrangements for the summer of 2021 on the island of Brac, offering direct flights from Berlin and Dusseldorf, operated by Sundair.

The Dusseldorf - Brac line will be in operation from May 22 to October 2, 2021, once a week, every Saturday, while the Berlin - Brac line will be in operation from May 23 to October 3, 2021, also once a week, on Sundays.

As a reminder, Sundair was supposed to operate on the charter line between Frankfurt and Brac for the German tour operator this summer, but the flights were canceled due to weak demand caused by the global pandemic.

A319 aircraft with 150 seats in the fleet of this airline will operate on the routes to Brac. If the flights are realized (which will primarily depend on demand), Brac will directly connect with German cities after a long time.

Furthermore, Ex Yu Aviation reports that low-cost carrier easyJet will launch a seasonal service between Glasgow and Pula in June 2021, which will run on Monday and Friday until September 3. easyJet will be the only airline connecting the two cities. 

Ex Yu Aviation also reports that Brussels Airlines will resume its seasonal operations between the Belgian and Croatian capitals next summer. Brussels Airlines plans to return to Zagreb with six weekly flights (each day except Saturday), beginning March 28. Airbus A319 aircraft will operate on this route.

August 1, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zadar, Pula, and Brac.

Croatian Aviation reports that Serbian national airline Air Serbia no longer has direct flights from Belgrade to Pula and Zadar. 

The long-standing seasonal line between Belgrade and Pula should have resumed regular traffic from the beginning of July, but this did not happen. Three flights per week were announced, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the planned fourth weekly flight (every Sunday) was previously canceled for the entire summer season.

Air Serbia planned to use an ATR 72-500 aircraft on the route, which has a capacity of 70 passengers in the fleet of this carrier.

The company established the Belgrade - Pula line in June 2014 and has been operating on this line regularly so far, but due to the specific situation this year, it decided not to launch it. All flights on this route have been withdrawn from sale for this year, so it is obvious that the company does not intend to operate between these two cities.

Recall that even during the outbreak of the pandemic, Air Serbia completely canceled the line to Rijeka.

The Belgrade - Zadar line was launched in the summer of 2019 with two flights per week (Fridays and Sundays) and was announced for this summer season as well. Just as is the case with the line to Pula, the plan was to launch the line in early July, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but that did not happen. The company no longer offers direct flights to Zadar.

Air Serbia currently operates to Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik, but cancellations of certain departures on routes to Croatia (especially to Zagreb) are not uncommon.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that the German charter company Sundair announced a regular charter line between Frankfurt and Brac from mid-July this year. However, there were no flights on this line.

The Frankfurt - Brac line was to be operated twice a week, every Monday and Friday, from July 17 this year until the end of October (October 23, 2020). This would give Brac its first route to Frankfurt, and in addition, a regular guest at this airport would be A319 aircraft.

The line has been completely canceled for this summer season, and since it is a regular charter, it can be assumed that travel agencies that sold holiday arrangements on Brac failed to achieve satisfactory sales.

July 10, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb and Brac. 

Croatian Aviation reports that German national airline Lufthansa launched traffic on the Munich-Zagreb route in early July, only three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but will soon increase the number of weekly flights on this route.

Lufthansa will increase the number of weekly flights between Zagreb and Munich from July 27. Namely, from the mentioned date, Lufthansa will operate 5 times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays) on this line.

Croatia Airlines operates on the same route every day, departing from Zagreb in the afternoon, and from July 21, they have a second daily flight on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

From July 27, Croatia Airlines should have two departures per day on this route every day of the week (a total of 14 flights per week), which, together with Lufthansa, provides 19 flights per week on this route.

This is still a smaller number of flights and seats offered compared to the period before the coronavirus crisis, given that Lufthansa also operated twice a day in the summer flight schedule on this route. Still, the company is likely to increase frequencies in August on this line further.

Lufthansa does not currently plan to launch the Frankfurt-Zagreb route, but in cooperation with Croatia Airlines, it offers connections to its network through a code-share agreement, as well as direct flights to this German city.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that German charter company Sundair announced the introduction of regular charter lines between Frankfurt and Brac from mid-July this year.

The Frankfurt-Brac line will run twice a week, every Monday and Friday, starting on July 17. Charter flights should be maintained on this route until the end of the summer flight schedule, on October 23 this year.

A319 aircraft have been announced on the route, which has between 150 and 156 seats in the fleet of this carrier.

We previously announced that Croatia Airlines would also introduce the A319 aircraft on this route, and thus perform charter flights to Linz and Graz.
