April the 28th, 2023 - The Zagreb Job Fair, which will be being held at the Zagreb Fair (Velesajam) in the middle of next month, is set to attract more than 150 companies from Croatia and abroad.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, over the period from May the 17th to the 18th, the Zagreb Job Fair will be held under the organisation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Zagreb, the FER Career Centre, the FER Student Association and the Electrical Engineering Students' Club (KSET). Due to the great interest of companies and visitors, this year's location of the Zagreb Job Fair will be at the city's Velesajam (more precisely at Pavilion 11D).

Just like every year, numerous companies will be presented at the Zagreb Job Fair, and this time as many as 152 of them from across fourteen different industries, mostly from the technology, information and communication sectors, will be present there.

Legendary Pink Floyd Drummer Nick Mason Played in Zagreb Last Night

June 1, 2022 - The drummer and founder of Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, played the best of the legendary English band's first albums with his band ''Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets'' last night at the Zagreb Fair (Velesajam). The concert served as the opening for the next INmusic Festival in the Croatian capital.

Nick Mason, the well known drummer of Pink Floyd and the only member who participated in the recording of all of their studio albums, had planned to play in 2020 at the INmusic Festival in Zagreb, but the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible. The festival couldn't be rescheduled for the following year, and in 2022, Nick Mason finally managed, in a display of commitment, to arrive in Croatia. Although his band, Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, could not be part of the lineup of the festival that will take place from June 20 to 23 due to schedule conflicts, they are part of the festival as a whole and yesterday the concert they gave at the Zagreb Fair served as a grand opening.

After Roger Waters and David Gilmour in Croatia, Croatia welcomed the third founder of the band Pink Floyd, drummer Nick Mason with the band Saucerful Of Secrets, named after the second album of Pink Floyd, reports Večernji List. On Tuesday night in the Pavilion 9 of the Zagreb Fair in front of several thousand visitors, in just over two hours of concert - with a twenty-minute break between the two parts - Mason performed just as it was expected from a member of one of the most iconic rock bands of all time to the delight of the audience.

"When I was younger, we thought these were the best records of all time. Fifty years later we're sure they're the best records of all time", Gary Kemp said at one point, mentioning that they were proud to be able to play these songs. Addressing the audience, Nick Mason mentioned that he hadn't been able to come here in 57 years of Pink Floyd and that he was glad to be on tour again after three years.

Only seven of Syd Barrett’s songs out of 22 were performed, which means the audience also got a large portion of Floyd’s work with David Gilmour. Two great guitarists, Lee Harris and Gary Kemp, managed to capture the wide band of the Barret/Gilmour sound, while bassist Guy Pratt, who by the way married the daughter of original keyboardist Floyd Rick Wright) has played with Floyd since 1988, so he was the most familiar link with Mason.

You can find the full setlist played by Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in Zagreb here.

WRC Croatia Rally 2022: Zagreb Fair to Become Center of Motorsport World

April 18, 2022 - Easter weekend marked the peak of preparations for the World Rally Championship - WRC Croatia Rally 2022, the largest sporting spectacle and one of the most-watched sporting events in the world, which will take place from April 21-24, 2022

About 250 trucks will equip the competitors and the Service Park. In addition, more than 300 people will stretch and install over 6 km of cables, 7 km of fences, and over 800 m of water installations. The expected total electricity consumption will be about 1.2 MWh, which is needed to turn the Zagreb Fair into a Fan Zone of the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 Service Park, the center of the motorsport world next week.

The organizers are aware of their significant impact not only on economic activity and consumption but also on the environment, so this year with the help of scientists from the Faculty of Transport Sciences and the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute, they will find ways to maximize their efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

As the organizers of this year's WRC Croatia Rally announced, visitors can expect rich content along the track and in the Fan Zones. The largest Fan Zone Service Park (Zagreb Fair) will be the first to start operating on Tuesday, April 19, and will be open for six days until April 24, when the final party is expected in the evening. There, visitors will be able to see a real small town built by the teams of the best rally drivers of today, cars and service areas of top competitors, and observe their final preparations and maintenance of cars during the competition. As part of the accompanying program, motorsports fans will be able to buy Croatia Rally souvenirs and swag from the top teams and the WRC, enjoy the food offered, DJs, and famous music performers, and try their skills on game consoles and simulators. In addition, drivers participating in the Croatia Rally 2022 will sign autographs on Tuesday, April 19, and Wednesday, April 20, and hold Meet the Crews on Thursday, April 21, Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, during which they will give statements on the big stage for the audience. You can download the detailed program via the link https://rally-croatia.com/hr/gledatelji/sluzbeni-program.

Tickets for all six Fan Zones with the best views of the most beautiful passages are on sale via ulaznice.hr/web/. In all Fan Zones, visitors can expect a rich food offer and varied all-day entertainment with sports, watching the entire race on large video walls with comments and explanations from the program's host. A complete four-day package that includes accommodation for €215 and up can be purchased through the Btravel agency: https://www.btravel.pro/en/wrc/.

Due to the limited number of parking spaces at the locations and possible crowds that could affect the race and the organizers' efforts to minimize their impact on the environment, the organizers ask visitors to connect with friends, relatives, and acquaintances wherever possible. They arrive at the location together, at least 3 hours before the start of the competition. Access to speed tests from both directions, start and finish, will not be possible even on foot in the last 30 minutes before the start of the speed test.

About the WRC Croatia Rally
WRC Croatia Rally will be held from April 21-24 at 20 attractive special stages through five Croatian counties - Zagreb, Karlovac, Krapina-Zagorje, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, and Varaždin. The ceremonial start and finish and the driver's park will be located in Zagreb. This year, a record number of spectators is expected at a sporting event in the country. Namely, according to the organizers, special fan zones and the track will be followed by more than 350,000 people, whose arrival is expected from Europe and many countries. At the competition in April, fans of octane attractions will be able to see the revolutionary new generation of hybrid Rally1 vehicles, first presented at the beginning of the season. Thanks to the excellent organization of the race and its features, including environmental protection, Croatia has been mentioned many times as a real surprise in the WRC calendar. The event is supported by numerous partners, local governments, tourist boards, and other institutions, including the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb.

Interliber 2021 Bringing 230 Exhibitors from 14 Countries to Zagreb

November the 5th, 2021 - The much loved Interliber, which has always been traditionally held at the Zagreb Fair (Zagrebacki Velesajam), is finally back after being banned under coronavirus-induced epidemiological measures. The Zagreb Fair also played and still plays host to those coming to be vaccinated against the novel virus. What does Interliber 2021 have in store?

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, this year's 43rd International Book Fair, Interliber 2021, will be held from November the 9th to 14th at the Zagreb Fair, as was announced on Wednesday by the president of the Association of Publishers and Bookstores (ZNK), Slavko Kozina.

The three pavilions will be filled by about 230 exhibitors from 14 countries for Interliber 2021, to which many book worms are looking forward. Kozina pointed out that two years without the fair would have set the entire book and publishing industry backwards, and he assessed that the current situation is significantly better than it was four years ago, when there was a big problem with the collapse of the Croatian publishing and bookstore network.

He also mentioned that the number of points where you can buy books has been reduced at Interliber 2021, as a small number of publishers gave up on the idea of showing up physically.

Assistant Director of the Zagreb Fair, Zoran Usuric, emphasised that admission to the fair for Interliber 2021 will be free of charge and possible only upon presentation of a valid Covid certificate proving the holder's vaccination status, recovery, or a valid negative PCR test result (no older than 72 hours), or a negative rapid antigen test result (no older than 48 hours).

Entrance to Interliber 2021 at the Zagreb Fair will be possible at the box office at the South Entrance with the presentation of the aforementioned Covid certificate, and visitors will receive a disposable bracelet and a ticket with which they'll pass through mechanical barriers and enter the space itself.

The wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing will be mandatory on the premises for the duration of the fair.

Ambienta Furniture and Interior Design Fair Opens

ZAGREB, 21 Oct 2021 - The furniture, interior design, and related industries fair Ambienta, featuring 125 exhibitors from nine countries, opened at the Zagreb Trade Fair Centre on Thursday.

The event, to last until Sunday, is the first one to be held at the Zagreb Trade Fair Centre after an 18-month ban on fairs, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ambienta will be followed by the Interliber book fair.

Admission is free but visitors have to show an EU COVID-19 certificate or a negative test.

Opening the event, Agriculture Minister Marija Vučković said that the value of the wood-processing sector and furniture industry in Croatia was around HRK 14 billion and that it was a very important strategic industry.

Around 11% of workers in the manufacturing industry work in the wood-processing and furniture industries, she said, noting that despite the globally unfavourable conditions, export indicators were still positive.

The foreign trade balance in the sector in 2020 was €375 million, she said, adding that this was owing to the government's prompt action as well as a number of sector-specific measures.

She pointed to increasingly close cooperation between designers and furniture manufacturers, which, she noted, was the best way to increase added value and export competitiveness.

Attending the opening of the fair was also Deputy Mayor Luka Korlaet, who noted that the fair was one of the most important national events for the Croatian wood-processing industry as well as for the national economy as a whole.

Zagreb Fair to Finally Restart Events! Decision on Interliber Awaited

September the 18th, 2021 - The Zagreb Fair (Zagrebacki Velesajam) has been the ''place to be'' over the last few months to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus. A ban issued by the National Civil Protection Directorate on the holding of events and fairs put a dampener on everything the facility was previously used for. That is all finally set to change as the Zagreb Fair begins playing host to the fair and event industry once again.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Darko Bicak writes, following the recently made decision from the Croatian Civil Protection Directorate on lifting the ban on the holding of business fairs and indoor events, which came into force yesterday, finally lifting the eighteen month ban on this activity, the Zagreb Fair announced that in the coming days they will announce the schedule of this location's events until the end of the year.

"Following the decision, the final dates for various fair/event projects of the Zagreb Fair until the end of 2021 will be announced in the coming days. In order to safely hold fairs and protect the health of all participants, the Zagreb Fair has prepared the organisation of upcoming projects with the epidemiological measures currently in force in mind, including the implementation of recommendations for health and safety according to the instructions of the National Civil Protection Directorate and the Croatian Institute of Public Health,'' they announced from the Zagreb Fair.

According to unofficial announcements from their website, this year, Inova, Art Fair, CroAgro and the Fair of Food and Healthy Living will all be held there.

It has been announced that they're also prepared for the wildly popular Interliber to take place, which draws visitors from all over the country, but concrete details on that are yet to be revealed.

Vaccine Information For Those Who Got First Dose at the Zagreb Fair

May 5, 2021 - People in Zagreb are getting their vaccines against the novel coronavirus, and the ‘‘Dr. Andrija Štampar’’ Institute has some vaccine information for them.

The vaccination process is continuing across all regions of Croatia to combat the novel coronavirus, even after a few weeks of uncertainty marked by problems with the vaccination portal cijepi.se. One of the vaccination points in the capital is at the Zagreb Fair, and those in charge have vaccine information about both doses for those who attend this vaccination point.

According to Our World in Data, as of 4 May, 944,398 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Croatia, with 734,556 people receiving the first dose and 209,842 receiving both doses.

As reported by tportal.hr, the "Dr. Andrija Štampar" Institute wants to inform all citizens of the City of Zagreb who have been vaccinated with the first dose at the vaccination point at the Zagreb Fair that they have been referred for vaccination with the second dose. The term of vaccination with the second dose was defined in accordance with the recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

Citizens can check the exact date for their second dose of vaccination at the Fair via the e-Citizens system, by calling the toll-free number 0800 8804 or via their selected family doctor (GP).

The "Dr. Andrija Štampar" Institute has also noted that the second dose of vaccination at the vaccination point at the Zagreb Fair is being organised exclusively for people who have already received their first dose of vaccine at that point. People without an referral term will not be vaccinated there due to limited organisational capacity.

In addition, "Stampar" has asked citizens to strictly adhere to the referral deadlines in order to avoid unnecessary crowds and for the purpose of more consistent adherence to epidemiological measures and recommendations.

New Zagreb Coronavirus Testing Site With Good Parking Capacities Opened

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 24th of October, 2020, a new Zagreb coronavirus testing site was opened in the eastern parking lot of the Zagreb Fair (Zagrebacki Velesajam) this Saturday. The opening was attended by the director of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Krunoslav Capak, and the director of the Andrija Stampar Institute, Zvonimir Sostar.

This new Zagreb coronavirus testing location was made possible by the Croatian Institute of Public Health, the Andrija Stampar Institute and the Dr. Fran Mihaljevic Clinic for Infectious Diseases in order to reduce the crowds on Gupceva zvijezda and in Rockefellerova and Mirogojska streets, because in this new Zagreb coronavirus testing location there is a large car park sufficient for everyone who will come for testing.

Testing at the new location will be conducted every day from 08:00 to 11:00, according to a report from N1. Capak said the flow at the new testing site will likely be much higher, meaning there will be less hanging around and crowding.

"Please tell people come here, not to Mirogojska and Rockefellerova. The samples taken here go to the laboratory in Rockefellerova anyway. Feel free to just come here, we'll try to deal with all the swabs that come within 24 hours. Currently, HZJZ has a slightly reduced capacity because we have several positive employees and several of them are now in self-isolation. We have the capacity to cover both this space and the space in Rockefellerova,'' said Capak.

Sostar thanked the Zagreb Fair for meeting the needs for this location and also thanked Krunoslav Capak, who, as he says, organised to put this new Zagreb coronavirus testing location into function as quickly as possible.

"This isn't a joke, nor is it a game. Coronavirus has now also entered our homes for the elderly and infirm. We have reason to worry and as such, we should act accordingly. There are no foci, the virus spreads horizontally. We have more and more families becoming infected. Epidemiologists are working from 7 in the morning until 1 in the morning,'' warned Sostar.
