Ballet Premiere at Sustipan on Friday

By 5 August 2015

It will be the last premiere of this year′s Split Summer Festival. The ballet performance "5 do 12" (five to twelve) will take place at Sustipan on Friday at 21:00.

According to Slobodna Dalmacija, the Macedonian author of the choreography Igor Kirov describes his ballet as "abstract, energetic and full of emotions and colours". Music was written by Kiril Džajkovski - a Macedonian musicians, who integrates electronic music with traditional Macedonian music and motives from all over Balkan area.

Interestingly, Kirov lives in Germany for the last 20 years, where he got used to the German discipline and punctuality. Maybe this ballet is an outlet of the contradictory Balkan philosophy of dealing with everything at the last minute - five minutes to twelve, or even five minutes past twelve.

The show will have 12 pars with 12 dancers presenting 6 periods of human life: birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, elderhood and death.

Dancers that will appear at the show on Friday are:Irina Čaban Bilandžić, Leona Sivoš, Matea Milas, Korana Bilan, Simona Caputo, Nikol Marčić, Katerina Kuznjecova, Romulus Dimache, Mihai Mezei, Ivan Boiko, Mircea Munteanu, Askhatbek Yusupuhanov, Artjom Žusov i Aleksandar Korijakovski.

We might have the opportunity to enjoy the show even after the Split Summer Festival, when it should be transferred indoors to the Croatian National Theatre building  during this 2015/2016 season. Although technical possibilities will probably be better indoors, the unique open-air atmosphere of Sustipan is one very good reason to go on Friday.
