Green Action: Croatia Still Swamped by Plastic Bags Despite Ban

ZAGREB, 13 April 2022 2022 - The Croatian market is still swamped by single-use plastics despite the ban, the Green Action NGO said at a protest rally outside the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development on Wednesday, urging it to ensure compliance with the European Union's Single-Use Plastics Directive. The 2019 directive required EU member states to adopt the necessary measures by 31 July 2021 to achieve a sustained reduction in the consumption of single-use plastic products. 5G Coverage in Croatia at 60-70%

ZAGREB, 13 April 2022 - The coverage with and access to the 5G network in Croatia has grown since the summer of 2021, when licenses for the 5G frequency range were issued, to 60-70%, and a new auction is being prepared for the existing frequencies, to be held in early 2023, HAKOM regulator official Tonko Obuljen said on Wednesday. DZS: Number of Building Permits Issued in February up 21% Year-on-year

ZAGREB, 13 April 2022 - In February this year, 993 building permits were issued in Croatia, which is 21.1% more than in the same month last year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS). Of those, 882 or 88.8% were issued for buildings and 111 or 11.2% for other structures. Compared with February 2021, the number of building permits issued for buildings increased by 30.7% and the number of those issued for other structures fell by 23.4%. Croatian Health Insurance Fund Spends €666.6m on Fighting COVID-19 Epidemic, says Jutarnji List

ZAGREB, 13 April 2022 - The fight against the COVID-19 epidemic has cost the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) HRK 5 billion (€666.6m) over the last two years and two months, Jutarnji List newspaper said on Wednesday. The cost only includes testing, treatment, sick leave and vaccination, but not other economic costs, the cost of equipment or the cost of conversion of hospitals and other facilities used for the treatment of COVID patients. HZJZ: Quarantine Mandate Lifted for All, Second Booster Dose Recommended for Elderly
