Mandatory Masks in Croatian Schools from 5th Grade Onwards

30th Anniversary of Attack on EC Monitors Marked

ZAGREB, 7 January, 2022 - A ceremony was held in Podrute near the northwestern town of Novi Marof on Friday to commemorate five European Community peace monitors whose unarmed helicopter was shot down by the Yugoslav Air Force 30 years ago. A helicopter carrying EU monitors Colonel Enzo Venturini and Lieutenants Marco Matta, Silvano Natale and Fiorenzo Ramacci of Italy and French Lieutenant Jean Loup Eychenne was shot down above Podrute by a Yugoslav Air Force MiG-21 on 7 January 1992. Croatia Logs 3,911 COVID Positive Cases, 41 Deaths

ZAGREB, 7 January, 2022 - In the past 24 hours, 3,911 new cases of the novel coronavirus were detected in Croatia while 41 people have died as a consequence, the national COVID response team reported on Friday. There are currently 38,666 active cases in the country, including 1,846 hospitalised patients, 245 of whom are on ventilators, while 17,928 persons are self-isolating. To date, a total of 3,841,357 tests have been conducted, including 9,062 taken in the past 24 hours. Archaeological Discovery: Ancient Salona Ramparts Uncovered

January 7, 2022 - Under the layers of earth, vegetation, and garbage, well-preserved ancient Salona ramparts have been discovered.  No one has recently passed Porta Caesarea, the eastern and oldest city gate on the way to the amphitheater, without being surprised by the discovered northern ramparts of Salona, the former metropolis of Roman Dalmatia, reports Slobodna Dalmacija. Under the layers of earth, vegetation, and garbage, one of the best-preserved parts of the Salonitan rampart, "70 meters long" and "120 meters" in length, has been revived.
