ZAGREB, 8 Sept, 2021 - The main Zagreb Stock Exchange indices weakened on Wednesday amid a very modest turnover, with the most traded stock being that of the Plava Laguna hotel chain.

he Crobex fell by 0.41% to 1,954 points while the Crobex10 fell by 0.3% to 1,200 points.

The construction sector index recorded the highest increase among sector indices, of 1.91%, while the food sector index decreased the most, by 0.22%.

Regular turnover amounted to HRK 4.6 million or about 600,000 less than on Tuesday.

Not one stock crossed the million kuna mark in turnover.

The most liquid stock was the Plava Laguna hotel company with a turnover of HRK 567,000. The price of its shares remained at HRK 1,620.

Forty-one stocks traded today, with 10 gaining in price and 20 falling, while 11 remained stable.

ZAGREB, 7 Sept, 2021 - The Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) Crobex index increased by 0.16% to 1,962 points on Tuesday, while the Crobex10 weakened by 0.01% to 1,204 points.

Regular turnover was HRK 5 million.

The most traded stock was the Arena Hospitality Group, turning over HRK 993,000. It closed at HRK 322 per share, up 1.9%.

Thirty-seven stocks traded today, with 14 gaining in price and 12 losing, while 11 were stable.

September 6, 2021 - A new Croatian energy label with more arranged levels of energetic efficiency and a QR code that connects buyers directly to the European Commission database offers more transparency to Croatian buyers.

Noted for promoting energy efficiency, particularly within the REPLACE Project, the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar (EIHP) is also involved in the Label 2020 project. As EIHP reported, since September 1, 2021, a new energy label has been providing more information on the energy efficiency of light source products.

The Label 2020 website explains that this new Croatian energy label developed better information for customers to educate them further on product efficiency.

This includes levels A-G (With A being the most energy efficient and G being the least efficient), with QR codes on the top of the label that provide a direct link to the European Commission's database for transparency and easier market control from the national government. In addition, energy spending is portrayed in a more express way in the middle of the energy label, while the bottom of the label has various pictograms which provide information on the selected features of the product.

''Several pictograms are the same as in the old label, some have been reviewed, and others are completely new,'' pointed out Label 2020.

''The EU energy tag for devices has remained a crucial starter for innovation and the market development of energy efficient technologies over the last 20 years. The energy label plays a two-part role in innovation stimulation for manufacturers and demanding efficient devices for buyers,'' explained Label 2020.

The new energy Croatian label aims to support all branches of the energy sale on the consumption market. From consumers and (professional) buyers through an information campaign, services and tools, to distributers (with the implementation of the label at the stores and for online purchase), manufacturers (by delivering the correct labels and product info), as well as for others.

With the new Croatian energy label having been a staple for the past 20 years, the change was triggered by the previous A level having three sublevels which opens doors for the incorrect advertising of products that weren't really energy efficient.

''Therefore, the European Union changed and optimised the label in line with the needs of the users. The new label was presented to buyers in physical stores and online on March 1, 2021, and includes energy classes from A to G. These scales will be updated regularly,'' said the website.

With the aforementioned QR code link being the strongest and most innovative demonstration of transparency of the updated system, the sparks of electricity will hopefully be greener than last month as Croatian buyers now have more options to make an informed purchase.

ZAGREB, 31 Aug, 2021 - An analysis of the Croatian Finance Agency (Fina) shows that in 2020, the businesses registered in Split-Dalmatia County had a consolidated net profit of HRK 571.3 million, down by 27% compared to 2019.

In terms of the total revenue in 2020, the Split-based Tommy retail chain topped the ranking with HRK 3.2 billion, and the Omiš-based Stuidenac ranked second, HRK 1.9 billion, and they were followed by the Vrgorac-based Pivac meat processing company, HRK 1.6 billion.

Last year, there were 15,308 businesses with their headquarters in Split-Dalmatia County.

Highest profit in 2020 made by sports betting company

Of them, the company with the highest profit was the Dugopolje-headquartered Hattrick-PSK bookmaker, HRK 242.1 million.

It was followed by the two shipbuilding companies, Brodotrogir (HRK 152.9 million) and Brodosplit (HRK 146.2 million)

Considering the number of employees on the payrolls of all those 15,308 businesses, the employed labour force was downsized by 2.8% from 2019 to reach 79,085 in 2020.

Tommy was the biggest employer, with nearly 3,000 people on its payroll. Studenac employed 2,456  workers in 2020.

According to Fina's data, last year, the total revenues earned by the businesses in this southern county came to HRK 48.5 billion, down by 8.4%, their expenditures were cut by 7.8% to HRK 47.5 billion.

ZAGREB, 27 Aug 2021 - The robust growth in the second quarter of 2021 is within expectations based on the relevant indicators, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) said on Friday in its comment on the preliminary data showing the Q2 16.1% economic growth year-on-year.

The HGK's analysis shows that all the big sectors had high growth rates in the second quarter compared to 2020 Q2.

For instance, industrial output increased 13.9%, retail trade jumped 20.5%, and the volume of construction work increased 16% in the second quarter this year, the HGK recalls. Furthermore, tourist arrivals skyrocketed 131.7% compared to the second quarter of 2020, and their overnight stays increased 129.2%.

The HGK says that all the basic activities contributed to the growth on the year.

ZAGREB, 25 Aug, 2021 - After rising for two days the main Zagreb Stock Exchange indices fell on Wednesday, with investors focusing on the Turisthotel stock. 

The Crobex dropped by 0.14% to 1,958.40 points while the Crobex10 fell by 0.16% to 1,201.56 points. 

Regular turnover amounted to HRK 6.2 million or about 900,000 less than on Tuesday.

The only stock to cross the million kuna mark was Turisthotel with a turnover of HRK 2.5 million. The price of its shares jumped by 2.98% to HRK 3,460.

Thirty-six stocks traded today, with 14 increasing in price and 13 decreasing, while 9 remained stable.

ZAGREB, 25 Aug, 2021 - Overnight stay numbers so far this year show that they have reached 74% of tourist nights in the corresponding period of 2019, whereas the value of the fiscalised receipts indicates even a better performance of the tourist sector, Minister Nikolina Brnjac has told Hina.

The year-to-date value of the fiscalised receipts in tourism-related economic activities has reached 79% of those receipts in 2019.

The minister admits that it is still too early to forecast the fiscal effects of this year's tourism season.

The comprehensive report on the revenues from the tourist trade can be expected upon the release of the relevant report by the Croatian National Bank on the spending of foreign holiday-makers in the third quarter of 2021, and the central bank provides the general public with those numbers at the end of the year.

The data collected by e-visitor system show that so far this year, there have been 9.8 million guests who have generated 61.3 million overnight stays, thus reaching 64% and 74% of the visitor numbers and tourist night numbers in 2019.

So far in August alone, there have been 3.4 million visitors and 24.1 million overnight stays, 87% and 92% of the results in the corresponding period in 2019.

Concerning the value of fiscalised receipts in the tourism-related activities, it stands at 14.9 billion kuna, or 79% of the value registered in the corresponding period of 2019 when Croatia's tourism sets new records.

In August, fiscalised receipts' value overtakes 2019

For instance, from 1 to 17 August  the value of fiscalised receipts reached nearly four billion kuna, or 20% more than in the same period of 2019, Brnjac said.

The value of the fiscalised receipts from 1 July to 17 August outperformed the corresponding period in 2019 by 9%, the minister said.

She said that the bookings for the remainder of the year also gave rise to optimism.

"We are striving for keeping Croatia's status of the Mediterranean country with the most favourable epidemiological situation," she said, among other things.

ZAGREB, 24 Aug, 2021 - The main Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) indices increased on Tuesday for the second day in a row amid a total turnover of HRK 12.6 million with HRK 5.5 million via a block transaction of the Atlantic Group's stock and trading of Adris Group's preferred shares.

The Crobex increased by 0.35% to 1,961.18 points while the Crobex10 closed at 1,203.43 points, up 0.13%.

The transport sector index recorded the greatest increase of 1.29% on Tuesday among sector indices, while the construction sector index fell by 3.14%.

Regular turnover amounted to HRK 7.1 million, about 1.1 million less than on Monday, however, overall liquidity improved with block trading of the Atlantic food group's stock amounting to HRK 2.9 million and closing at a price of HRK 1,510. With a turnover of almost HRK 2.6 million, the Adris insurance group's preferred shares also helped boost liquidity. Adris shares traded at a price of HRK 430.

The highest turnover of HRRK 1.8 million in regular trading was generated by the Valamar Riviera hotel group with the price of its share increasing by 0.34% to HRK 29.30.

The Ericsson Nikola Tesla company generated a turnover of HRK 1.5 million, and its shares closed at a price of HRK 1,715, up 0.59%.

The Atlantska Plovidba shipping company generated a turnover of HRK 1.1 million. The price of its share jumped by 2.97% to close at HRK 451.

Thirty-six stocks traded today, with 14 increasing in price and nine decreasing, while 13 remained stable.

ZAGREB, 24 Aug, 2021 - The average net pay in legal entities in Zagreb in May 2021 amounted to HRK 8,249 (€1,099), which is a nominal increase of 7.3% compared to May 2020, show data from the Zagreb City Department for Strategic Planning and Development.

Compared with the national average, which amounted to HRK 7,104, the average net monthly pay in Zagreb was HRK 1,145 higher.

The highest average net wage in legal entities was paid in crude petroleum and natural gas extraction, amounting to HRK 13,408.

The lowest wage was paid in clothing manufacturing, in the amount of HRK 4,484.

The average gross monthly pay in legal entities in Zagreb was HRK 11,440, up 5.4% from May 2020.

ZAGREB, 19 Aug, 2021 - The main Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) indices decreased on Thursday, the Crobex by 0.63% to 1,951.26 points and the Crobex10 by 0.53% to 1,201.23 points, while regular turnover was HRK 4.96 million.

Another HRK 2.04 million was generated in a block transaction with Ericsson Nikola Tesla shares at HRK 1,700. In regular trading, this stock turned over HRK 44,300, closing at HRK 1,700 per share, down 0.29%.

In regular trading, the most traded stock was the HT telecom operator, turning over HRK 1.17 million, stable at HRK 190 per share.

Only one more stock crossed the million kuna mark in regular trading, the Atlantska Plovidba shipping company, turning over HRK 1.04 million. It closed at HRK 423 per share, down 1.63%.

Thirty-five stocks traded today, with 15 decreasing in price and seven increasing, while 13 were stable.
