ZAGREB, August 30, 2018 - Public Administration Minister Lovro Kuščević said on Thursday that representatives of civil initiatives would not be allowed to monitor the checking of signatures collected for referendum petitions but that a contract would be signed with a company to do it.
ZAGREB, August 2, 2018 - The government on Thursday instructed the Public Administration Ministry and the Ministry of the Interior to verify the number and authenticity of signatures collected by the "Truth about the Istanbul Convention" initiative and the "People Decide" initiative and to check if the signatures for the petition against the Convention were collected in line with the law.
ZAGREB, July 28, 2018 - The People Decide civil initiative on Friday expressed concern that the government had still not decided to count and verify signatures collected to call a referendum on changing the election law and said that it had sent an appeal to European institutions regarding the "undermined independence of the referendum process."

ZAGREB, June 3, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović repeated on Sunday that she did not want to comment on the content of the question of a recently completed campaign for a referendum to change the election law, but that she believed the will of the people should be respected, adding that her meeting with Željka Markić, leader of the conservative “In the Name of the Family” civic group, unofficially one of the organisers of one of the two recent referendum campaigns, was not a secret meeting.
