Dutch Market Reaches 780 Percent More Arrivals in Croatia So Far in August

August 20, 2021 - The extensive number of routes and flights connecting the Netherlands and Croatia have enabled the Dutch market to reach impressive numbers of arrivals and stays this summer.

Among the foreign markets with the largest tourist turnover in August, along with Germany, Slovenia, Poland, Austria, and the Czech Republic, is the market of the Netherlands with more than 116 thousand arrivals and more than 852 thousand overnight stays, which compared to the same period last August growth of 780 percent in arrivals and 643 percent in overnight stays.

The current course of the season from the Dutch market was also commented on by the director of the CNTB Representation for the Benelux countries, Ivan Novak, who said that the announcements for the rest of the summer were very good. "The Netherlands has never in its history had more airlines to Croatia. For example, six airlines operate daily to Split alone, KLM has introduced a new route to Dubrovnik, while Ryanair flies from Eindhoven and Maastricht to Zadar alongside existing Transavia, Easyjet, and Croatia Airlines routes. A novelty this year is that Ryanair will fly from Eindhoven to Zagreb from December, which will make Croatia even more accessible to guests from the Benelux countries throughout the year. We believe that the rest of the season will go according to expectations and that we will get even closer to the results achieved in 2019, "concluded Novak.

The CNTB adds that Dutch journalist Jaan Juriaan Teuling is staying in Croatia, who will visit the Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties in the coming days, organized by the Croatian Tourist Board and with the support of the tourist board system, such as those from Trogir, Split, Hvar, Korcula, Dubrovnik and Cavtat, and the city of Zagreb and its surroundings.

The focus of the trip is on the total tourist offer of these destinations, and the materials will be published in a special weekend issue of the daily FD Persoonlijk, which has a circulation of 150,000 and whose readers are primarily Dutch entrepreneurs and businessmen among the highest incomes in the country, as well as in KLM's inflight magazines, Flying Dutchman magazine, which has a circulation of over 180,000 copies, and Holland Herald magazine, which has a circulation of over 100,000 copies.

"The Dutch market is traditionally among the top 10 markets with the highest tourist turnover, and when we compare the figures from August this year with the same period in August, a record 2019, we achieved 8 percent more arrivals and 92 percent of results in overnight stays. From accommodation, the Dutch still most often choose camps in which they realized more than 506 thousand overnight stays in August, and so far this year they have realized more than 880 thousand overnight stays in camps", said the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, adding that the most overnight stays by Dutch tourists are realized in household facilities and hotels.

During September and October, Croatia will host representatives of one of the most widely read media in the Netherlands, and a reality show will be filmed in our country. According to the CNTB, the show Expeditie Robinson, a version of the popular show "Survivor", filmed this spring in Zadar County, will soon start broadcasting and is expected to be watched by about 1.5 million viewers.

Croatian Tourism Association Targets Dutch Market: Croatia - Safe and Desirable Destination

August 7, 2020 - This week, the Croatian Tourism Association. (HUT) launched a newsletter specifically for the Dutch market titled, 'Croatia: Safe and Desirable Destination', which communicates the epidemiological situation to key institutions and epidemiologists in the Netherlands daily and provides an overview of the tourist situation in the country.

For our previous article on the tracker, please follow this link.

HRTurizam reports that the website www.croatiacovid19.info, which was launched to give daily updated and accurate information on the number of COVID-19 cases in Croatia and its regions, was visited by over 110,000 unique users in the 12 days since its launch. Most foreign visitors come from Germany (42.5%), Hungary (14.7%), Austria (8.5%) and the Netherlands (6.3%).

"In almost six months since the first case of COVID-19 infection was recorded in Croatia, there is still no official information that none of the citizens of other countries became infected in commercial accommodation in Croatia. Croatia continues to be the safest, closest and most acceptable holiday destination in the Mediterranean for all guests from the EU," said Veljko Ostojic, director of HUT.

Also, the site was supplemented in such a way that, in addition to the epidemiological situation by region, it now monitors the situation in the counties on a daily basis, and two new indicators were added - the ratio of active cases per 100,000 inhabitants (A100I *) and the ratio of active cases per 100,000 people, i.e., the total number of inhabitants and tourists staying in the area at a given time (A100P *).

In the last week since the previous issue of the Croatia Tourism & Travel newsletter (July 28-August 5), Croatia has recorded an average of 1,165 new cases per 100,000 people in the country, which is 27.5 percent fewer new cases than the daily average from a week earlier. The number of active cases has decreased by 16.7 percent since the previous edition of the newsletter.

"The site www.croatiacovid19.info clearly shows that the epidemiological situation in Croatia is 'in the green' and is the best in the Mediterranean, with the least active cases," concludes Ostojic.
