July 4, 2022 - Zadar Airport traffic is expected to increase by 20% this year compared to the record-breaking 2019!
The increase in the number of passengers at Zadar Airport in June continued on the first weekend of July, reports HRT.
Namely, the airport has estimated that the season will end with 20% more traffic than the record 2019, before the pandemic. The terminal was crowded rom early Sunday morning. Ivan Skelin, head of the traffic and operational sector of Zadar Airport, said that traffic in June was better than ever, that is, the record 2019.
Zadar Airport expected around 7,500 passengers on 28 scheduled planes on Sunday, Ivan Skelin, manager of the transport and operational sector of Zadar Airport, told HRT. He adds that about 20 smaller aircraft are also expected.
"From Friday to Sunday, there are 95 airliners, and the total number of passengers could be around 22,000 or 23,000," Skelin said.
For now, traffic at Zadar Airport in June, with 173,000 passengers, is better than the record 2019 at the same time.
"In July and August, we expect 30% more passengers than in June, which means around 220,000 passengers in July and the same number in August. This year will surely be a record year, about 15-20 percent more than 2019," Skelin pointed out.
When asked if there were flight cancellations considering that some airlines have problems due to a lack of workforce, Skelin said that Zadar Airport does not have such problems.
"All over Europe, there is a labor shortage problem due to the fact that they laid off several people. It's hard to get them back. Schooling lasts quite a long time, 2-4 months," Skelin said and spoke about when there could be problems during the summer, and when a better situation is expected.
"Our main carrier is Ryanair with 75% of the total business and it has no cancellations for now," he added.
He confirmed that tenders for seasonal jobs at the airport are still open.

Three new flights to Croatia are on the cards as Croatia's rich tourist offer impresses the Dutch in Utrecht.
As Morski writes on the 10th of January, 2019, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has been presenting the Croatian tourist offer at the Vakantiebeurs fair, which takes place in the Dutch town of Utrecht from January 9th to the 13th, 2019. The fair is intended for both a business and a wider audience, and on the first day of the fair alone, the Dutch have shown huge interest for various Croatian destinations, especially for the Croatia's camping segment. Owing to the level of interest from the Netherlands, three new flights to Croatia from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Einhoven are ready to take off in 2019.
''The presentation at the Utrecht fair starts with the presentation of the Croatian tourist offer at the most important fairs with key emission markets. The Croatian National Tourist Board will organise the presentation of the Croatian tourist offer at a total of 22 fairs in 2019, of which there are 17 general ones, and five specialised ones, including three nautical fairs and two camping fairs,'' said the Croatian National Tourist Board's director Kristjan Staničić, adding that during 2018, almost 500,000 arrivals and about 3.2 million overnight stays were realised by Dutch tourists, representing fairly significant growth of nine percent in terms of arrivals and of five percent in terms of overnight stays made by the Dutch back in 2017.
Within the scope of the current Utrecht fair, numerous meetings with representatives of various tour operators, travel agents and airline companies such as TUI, Thomas Cook, Transavia, D-Reizen, Rotterdam-Den Haag Airport, Travel Counselors Association and others are also taking place.
Such meetings are aimed at discussing activities and better cooperation in the upcoming period. The first information which can be concluded from Dutch tour operators is that the interest level of the Dutch for Croatia is currently at last year's level, but the real period of intensification lies not too far ahead.
''We're extremely pleased with the increasing interest of air carriers for Croatia, as evidenced by the announcement of the introduction of three new air lines from the Netherlands to Croatia, more precisely to Zadar in 2019. The Transavie line will connect Zadar with Rotterdam, Ryanair will link Zadar with Eindhoven, and Easyjet will link Zadar to Amsterdam,'' said Ivan Novak, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board's representation for the Benelux countries.

A brand new connection for Zadar!
Ireland's wildly popular Ryanair is set to connect Zadar and Prague twice per week as of next season.
Zadar Airport will host an array of newcomers this summer.
Zadar is becoming increasingly popular for flights to the Croatian coast, and it is a useful entry point for people coming into Split, even more so since Ryanair announced it was creating its first permanent base there. If you are coming to Split on holiday, you can find information about onward travel from Zadar Airport to Split here.
One of the most popular routes is London Stansted to Zadar. We have done battle with the Ryanair website, and come up with the best prices for the 8 months which the airline flies. Ryanair is not most people's favourite airline, but they are successful and they do fly to some more offbeat routes. Zadar airport is a classic example of a regional airport which has benefited greatly from the Irish low-cost carrier's routes, and it recently became the first Croatian airport to become a Ryanair base.
While there are many routes to Split, Zadar is also a popular arrival point for people coming to the Dalmatian coast, Split and the islands. There are now 16 Ryanair destinations for 2013, including Liverpool. We did battle with the Ryanair website to find the best deals currently on offer.
The cheapest flight we found was £68.62 return including all booking charges, with hand luggage only. Luggage is an additional £30 (for 15kg) or £50 (for 20kg). The booking system takes some skill to navigate the various extra charges, but it is possible to get through with just a £1.64 credit card charge on top of the headline fares below.
