May 31, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 10 Transavia Croatia lines will operate next month!

Well-known low-cost airline Transavia is planning 10 international flights to five Croatian airports in France and the Netherlands in June, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Namely, the subsidiary of the Air France - KLM group will operate on 10 scheduled flights to 5 Croatian airports - Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik.

One line has been announced from Rotterdam to Pula Airport, which will be in traffic three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Transavia mainly uses 737-700 KLM aircraft on this line.

Transavia has reduced the number of flights offered to Rijeka Airport in June. On the regular line between Rijeka and Eindhoven in June, only one flight on Sundays is available for booking.

According to Zadar, Transavia has announced two lines, from Paris and Rotterdam. From Orly Airport, planes will fly to Zadar on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while flights from Rotterdam are announced on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Split Airport has announced three Transavia flights for June from Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Paris.

Transavia will operate between Rotterdam and Split 5 times a week in June (every day except Tuesdays and Fridays), between Amsterdam and Split 3 times a week (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays), and between Paris and Split 4 times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays). Transavia will offer almost 19 thousand seats in June to and from Split Airport. 

Dubrovnik Airport has a line from Paris 5 times a week, from Rotterdam 3 times a week, and from Nantes 2 times a week.

This airline will offer more than 45,000 seats on its B737-700 and B737-800 aircraft on 10 international routes to the mentioned airports. A total of up to 30 flights per week were announced in June, with the airline leaving the possibility of increasing the number of weekly operations in the second half of June, depending on the movement of bookings.

February 22, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as new Transavia Split flights have been announced to France for the 2022 summer season. 

Well-known low-cost airline Transavia has released tickets for two new routes to Croatia, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Namely, the KLM - Air France member is introducing two new routes from Split Airport to Montpellier and Nantes. As expected, these are seasonal lines that will start operating in early July this year.

The Montpellier - Split - Montpellier line will operate from July 9, once a week, every Saturday, in the late evening. The line between Nantes and Split will start a day later, and two weekly flights have been announced on this line, every Thursday and Sunday.

Transavia has announced B737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 189 seats on these two new routes, and tickets are on sale on the company's official website.

In addition to these two new lines, Transavia will also operate to Split from Amsterdam, Paris, and Rotterdam, so the number of lines has now increased to a total of five.

In addition to Split, Transavia will operate in the summer flight schedule to Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, and Dubrovnik. It is certainly possible to expect additional operational changes to the mentioned airports.

In other Split Airport news, SAS recently announced it is planning the largest number of operations to Split Airport this season, with seven lines announced:

Copenhagen - Split, from 16.04., once a week, from the end of June to the end of August every day, two weekly flights available until the end of October,

Oslo - Split, from 14.05. once a week, from the end of June to the middle of August every day, one weekly flight available until the end of October,

Stockholm - Split, from 07.05., twice a week, from the end of June to the middle of August every day, one weekly flight available until the end of October,

Bergen - Split, from 27.06., twice a week until mid-August,

Gothenburg - Split, from 14.05., once a week, from the end of June to the middle of August every day, one weekly flight available until the end of October,

Kristiansand - Split, from 28.06., twice a week until mid-August,

Stavanger - Split, from 27.06., twice a week until mid-August.

Thus, Scandinavian Airlines is planning 34 flights a week on these seven routes to Split Airport in the peak season.

April 8, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Transavia flights to Split resume in mid-April! 

Croatian Aviation reports that well-known low-cost airline Transavia plans to resume traffic to Split Airport from mid-April.

The Dutch low-cost airline, a subsidiary of KLM and Air France, will renew only one route to Croatia in April.

Although the company normally operates on as many as 10 international routes to as many as five Croatian airports (Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik), the company will resume traffic on only one route in the middle of this month.

Namely, the Paris - Split - Paris (Orly Airport) will operate from April 16 with two flights a week, every Friday and Sunday.

All other lines to Croatia have been postponed for the middle, and most even for the end of May:

• Rotterdam - Split,
• Nantes - Dubrovnik,
• Pariz - Dubrovnik,
• Rotterdam - Dubrovnik,
• Eindhoven - Rijeka,
• Pariz - Zadar,
• Rotterdam - Zadar,
• Pariz - Pula,
• Rotterdam - Pula

Transavia plans to operate on all of these lines in the high season but reduced compared to the number of operations the company had in 2019 before the global pandemic.

Paris and Split will be connected by a direct line again from mid-April. There have been no direct flights between the two cities since the end of October last year, i.e., the end of the summer flight schedule. Orly Airport is a little less than 20 kilometers from the center of Paris. The journey on this route usually takes a little less than 60 minutes.

In addition to Transavia, there should be other airlines between Paris and Split in the peak of the summer season; Air France, Croatia Airlines, and EasyJet.

Split Airport, along with Zagreb, is the only airport in Croatia to which several foreign carriers are returning in April. The traffic is still modest, but according to the announcements, that should change as early as May. According to the mentioned announcements, Split Airport should have a significantly higher number of aircraft operations on regular routes this season than in the summer of 2020, when Split, along with Zagreb, had a significant number of passengers in the crisis, pandemic year.

October 30, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Vueling returns to Dubrovnik in January, and Transavia completes services to Split and Dubrovnik for this year. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Spanish low-cost airline Vueling plans to return to Dubrovnik Airport in January 2021.

At the end of the summer flight schedule, the company suspended traffic to all Croatian airports, and Dubrovnik is currently the only planned destination in Croatia in the winter months.

This summer, Vueling flew to Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik, with reduced flights compared to last year's summer flight schedule.

Vueling plans to re-establish the Barcelona-Dubrovnik line starting in 2021. Regular flights between the two cities are currently announced from Sunday, January 3, 2021, twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday.

The line should operate until the end of the winter flight schedule (March 28, 2021) with the above two flights per week, and for the summer flight schedule next year, the company currently has daily flights on this line.

The realization of these flights will primarily depend on the global situation with COVID-19, which directly affects the demand itself, so Vueling will cancel the announced flights in case of commercial unprofitability. 

Vueling announced flights to four Croatian airports for the next summer season; Zagreb, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik, but we will know more about the summer flight schedule later, as it is too early to conclude so many months in advance, especially in these uncertain times.

Vueling's intention to operate on the Barcelona-Dubrovnik route in the winter flight schedule is certainly positive news, but the question remains: Will there be demand?

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that low-cost Dutch airline Transavia, a subsidiary of the world's oldest airline, KLM, and also a member of the Air France - KLM group, will perform the last flights to Croatian airports for this year this weekend. 

Transavia had reduced traffic to Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik this summer, connecting five Croatian airports with destinations in France and the Netherlands, despite reduced demand.

The company cut traffic to Rijeka, Pula, and Zadar in September, and Transavia operated only to Split and Dubrovnik in October with a relatively small number of weekly flights.

The Split - Paris Orly line operated 2 to 3 times a week in October, and on Friday, October 30, the company will perform the last flight to Split on the line from Orly.

In Dubrovnik, Transavia had two active lines this month, from Nantes and Paris. These two lines will end with traffic for this year, a day later compared to Split, on Saturday, October 31. 

In October, two routes from France to Dubrovnik operated with a minimum weekly frequency, only once a week, on Saturdays. Still, all routes were operated by B737-800 aircraft with a capacity of as many as 189 seats in the carrier's fleet.

Transavia will no longer have regular operations at Croatian airports after the last weekend in October, and re-establishing numerous seasonal routes is expected in mid-April next year. This low-cost carrier has not operated to Croatian airports in winter before, and Transavia will not operate to neighboring airports (Ljubljana and Belgrade) in the winter months.

August 31, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia with updates for Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Rijeka, Pula as Transavia cancels most Croatia routes in September. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Transavia, a low-cost airline from the Air France - KLM group, has announced its flight schedule for September this year. Most lines to Croatia will stop operating before the end of September.

Transavia started traffic to Croatia very early, immediately after the measures were relaxed, and the countries from which it normally flies to Croatian airports were opened. The company has resumed traffic to airports in Croatia, where it flew in previous seasons, but clearly, in a reduced form and with fewer scheduled flights.

Transavia will also fly to five Croatian airports in September: Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik, but most routes will be interrupted next month.

Lines to Split

The Split - Paris Orly line will operate 3 times a week in September (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays), and flights are currently announced for October.

On September 19, there will be an interruption of traffic on the Split - Rotterdam line, and it will be in traffic twice a week (Mondays and Saturdays) until the specified date.

Lines to Dubrovnik

The Dubrovnik - Nantes line has been announced for September once a week (every Saturday), and traffic is expected to continue through October.

In September, there will be a disruption of traffic on two lines of this airline to Dubrovnik. On September 26, the Dubrovnik - Paris Orly line will stop, though it will be in operation 3 times a week (Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays) until the specified date. On September 19, the last flight on the Dubrovnik - Rotterdam line was announced, and until then the line will run twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays). 

Lines to Zadar, Rijeka and Pula

The Zadar - Rotterdam line is in operation until September 19, twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays), the Pula - Rotterdam line is in operation until September 20, twice a week (Thursdays and Sundays), and the Rijeka - Eindhoven line will stop operating on the same date, but will also operate twice a week (Thursdays and Sundays) until then.

In the summer season of 2019, the company operated most of its lines to Croatia until mid-October.

October 11, 2019 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for new flights to Croatia with updates from Split and Pula.

Following Thursday’s announcement that Air Transat is looking to increase their Croatian operations to Split and Dubrovnik, Avio Radar revealed on Friday that Spanish low-cost airline Volotea will run a seasonal service between Athens and Split as part of their 2020 summer flight schedule. 

Thus, Volotea will operate two flights per week between the two cities, on Wednesdays and Sundays, beginning April 19. This seasonal service will compete against Aegean Airlines and Croatia Airlines, both Star Alliance members, who already operate this line. 

Recall, the Dubrovnik-Athens service began operating this year, too. However, next year, the service will begin two weeks earlier, from April 11. The airline will run two flights per week in the preseason, on Wednesdays and Saturdays as they did this year, and from June, they’ll increase frequencies to three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This year, Volotea only ran three flights per week in August. 

A Boeing 717-200 aircraft will operate on both lines. 

Avio Radar also reports that low-cost carrier Transavia has announced a new flight for Croatia in their 2020 summer flight schedule. Namely, the airline will connect Paris (Orly Airport) and Pula. The new route will begin on April 4, 2020, and run once a week - on Saturdays. The airline will increase frequencies to two flights a week from May until the end of September on Tuesdays and Saturdays. During the heart of the season, in July and August, Transavia will boost operations to three flights per week, with the additional trip on Thursdays. 

A Boeing 737-800 aircraft will fly on this line.

Furthermore, Split Airport handled its three-millionth passenger on Friday, October 4, which is the second time in the 53-year-history of the airport. The lucky passenger arrived on a Croatia Airlines flight from Frankfurt. Split Airport achieved this milestone 21 days earlier than last year.

September 19, 2019 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for new flights to Croatia with updates from Zadar and Split.

Dutch low-cost airline Transavia has announced their 2020 flight schedule. Flights to Croatian destinations remain mostly with the same number of flights as this year, though the airline has chosen to boost operations to Zadar next year. 

Namely, Avio Radar reports that the route between Rotterdam/The Hague and Zadar began operating this year from July with two flights a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Next year, this line will begin operations two months earlier, from April 18. In the preseason, there will be two flights a week, and in July and August, an additional third flight per week on Mondays. A Boeing 737-700 aircraft or larger Boeing 737-800 will service this line. 

Furthermore, Avio Radar reports that larger aircraft will fly on the charter lines of Scandinavian travel agency Apollo next year. Namely, Apollo has contracted charter flights for Croatia with the Danish airline JetTime for the 2020 flight schedule. This includes two lines - Gothenburg - Split and Copenhagen - Split. Both charter lines will run once a week, on Saturdays, From May 9 to October 3, 2020. A Boeing 737-700 aircraft is expected to service this route, while a smaller British Aerospace ARJ-100 flew this year by Swedish regional airline Braathens. 

Croatia’s nine commercial airports are on schedule to handle over eleven million passengers in 2019, which is an increase compared to 2018’s 10.5 million. 

Ex Yu Aviation reports that Croatia recorded the 7th largest passenger growth in the European Union so far this year, behind Austria, Latvia, Portugal, Finland, Hungary, and Malta, but ahead of the remaining 21-member states. Namely, from January to August, Croatian airports handled 8,285,615 travelers, which is up 8.7%. 

Dubrovnik Airport recorded an additional 240,016 passengers compared to last year, though Split Airport continues to be the busiest in Croatia.

January 20, 2019 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for new flights to Croatia, with updates from Rijeka and Dubrovnik. 

Flights to Croatia: Transavia boosts Rijeka operations 

Dutch low-cost carrier Transavia announced that they are boosting operations between Rijeka and the Netherlands in the heart of the tourist season this year. Namely, Transavia has significantly extended traffic on the route between Eindhoven and Rijeka. Travellers can now buy tickets two months earlier in the pre-season and two months later into the end of the season - or from April 18, 2019, to October 27, 2019. The airline had already announced another weekly flight in the peak season which will run on Tuesdays.

Furthermore, the airline is also selling their fourth weekly flight for the peak season, which will run on Saturdays from July 6, 2019, to August 31, 2019, AvioRadar reports. 

Thus, Transavia will operate between Rijeka and Eindhoven four times a week in the peak season, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The airline will use the Boeing 737-800 aircraft between the two cities. 

Flights to Croatia: Winter charter flights to Dubrovnik 

Greek airline Aegean, which is a Star Alliance member, is operating charter flights from Dubrovnik to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Scandinavian countries. The airline already began this service on January 14, which will run until May 12, 2019, AvioRadar reports. 

Last year, the charter flights were operated by Corendon Airlines, which used a Boeing 737-800 aircraft four days a week, from Monday to Thursday. This year, the winter charter flights are working every day, seven days a week with at least two flights, bringing the total to about twice as many charter flights than last year. One Aegean Airbus A320 is permanently based in Dubrovnik for this service. 

The RSD Reisen travel agency is organizing the charter flights for Central European markets and TSS Travel Service Scandinavia for the Scandinavian market. The flights are intended for seniors.
