British-Croatian Michela Magaš European Innovator of the Year

By 9 March 2017

On International Women’s Day in Brussels the European Union Prize for Women Innovators 2017 was awarded. The first prize and 100.000 euro went to Michela Magaš, a dual Croatian/British national. Very little is written in Croatia about her, mostly in the context of her father Boris Magaš, legendary architect and author of Poljud stadium

Magaš began her career in Great Britain, in the respected business publication Financial Times. In the beginning of 2000s she left FT and with colleague Peter Russell-Clarke created Stromatolite, a company that soon became a well-known laboratory for innovation, working also on the development of Apple’s iTunes, Telegram.hr reported on March 9, 2017.

Later on they worked with Nike and Nokia, among others. Stromatolite has, in its 16 years of existence, become an established British brand awarded with several prestigious recognitions.

Along with several of the most successful companies, it was also included in the exhibition of British economy on display during the London Olympic Games.

Michela Magaš was recognised by the Innovation Luminary Academy which every year, during the Open Innovation Conference, awards to the most prominent innovators of our time a very significant award. Innovation Luminary has previously recognised Richard Branson, BMW designer Eva-Maria Boerschlein and Stephen Hawking.
