In early October, Zagreb will become the media centre of Europe, thanks to Video Action Days, the largest European video content conference.

Journalists from world's major media will talk about how they have successfully started the video-revolution. Editors and journalists from the BBC, Bild, El Pais and other prominent media outlets will come to Zagreb, where they will be joined by Styria and 24sata representatives, as regional leaders in the production and implementation of video content.

Over the past year, 24sata have dominated the area of video-production in Croatia, and for their efforts, they have been rewarded with numerous awards. The success of 24sata has also been recognized by Google, which has decided to fund with 500,000 euros the Styria media service project and 24sata.

The conference will be opened by Ralf Ressmann, director of the World Association of Newspapers for Europe and Africa, with a major speech given by Styria's director for Croatia Boris Trupčević.

The first day of the conference will feature the lecture "Our Priorities in Video Production", which will be given by Matej Lončarić, head of video department of 24sata, whose the JoomBoos project and YouTube series "The Same Dream" were awarded with the Global INMA Award in New York, accompanied by Helje Solberg from Norway's VGTV and Sarah Austin from the BBC, who is in charge of video strategy for more than 40 language areas.

The second day of the conference will be opened by Carlos De Vega, who will hold a lecture on the organisation of video resources at El Pais, followed by Bella Levy from Expressen from Sweden, a CNN partner. She will give a presentation on “How One of the Oldest Tabloids in Sweden Became the Home for Breaking News”.

She will be joined by Mark Jungnickel of from Bild in Germany, who will hold a presentation on how to compete in the digital world with the TV broadcasting.

Igor Šanjević, head of the video production at Adria Media Group, will explain how to choose the right platforms for live streaming of key events.

Antonis Kalogeropoulos from the Reuters’ Institute for the Study of Journalism at the prestigious Oxford University is also coming to Zagreb. Some of the questions he will answer are when does the audience choose video news as opposed to textual news, as well as what lengths of video content are popular on which platform. “In addition to the production itself, it is essential to how the audience consumes the videos, their news-tracking habits, and what they select,” said Kalogeropoulos.

The conference will be concluded by Lotta Folcker from Sweden's Aftonbladet, who will give a lecture on monetisation of video content.
