ZAGREB, January 28, 2018 - Betting and gambling business in Croatia earned 2.7 billion kuna in revenues in 2016, which was a record high in the last 16 years, and the Croatian lottery Hrvatska Lutrija was the top performer with 500 million kuna in revenues in 2016, according to figures released rather belatedly by the Financial Agency (FINA).
In comparison to 2001, when total revenues in this sector were 663.7 million kuna, the revenues in 2016 skyrocketed by 301.6%.
In 2016, there were 68 betting and lottery businesses, whereas in 2008 there were 99 businesses in that sector.
That year, the average salary of employees in those businesses was 4,640 kuna.
Broken down by net profit in 2016, Super Sport netted in 169.1 million kuna and employed 950 workers. Its gross revenues totalled 393.5 million kuna.
Hattrick-Psk posted a profit of 50.1 million kuna whereas its revenues came to 401.6 million kuna.
Hrvatska Lutrija posted a profit of 38.4 million kuna and employed the highest number of workers, 1,237, compared to other businesses in this sector.
