Could Tommy potentially be the answer to Konzum's issues caused by the Agrokor crisis?
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 24th of February, 2018, suppliers, including larger domestic companies within the food industry, have their settlement requirements (they don't agree to a debt write-off of more than 30 percent), but they also have a clear plan that is no longer being kept a secret - wanting to enter the Konzum ownership structure, along with a strategic partner, the popular Tommy retail chain.
Larger "Konzum" creditors are ready to convert their claims into equity holdings, with "Tommy" performing a recapitalisation of the company, which would make it the majority owner of Konzum. The condition is that the whole process is done within the settlement.
According to several sources who were in contact with Slobodna Dalmacija, it has been confirmed that serious discussions (with key agreements having been reached) have been taking place on this topic, and as such, a model was set up as a platform for detailed ownership and control.
At this moment in time, it seems nobody has a desire to discuss or talk about the model and the details of it, because about the whole settlement is nowhere near cleared yet, and there is not enough information available from Konzum itself at this point in time.
