More investments and new jobs to come by 2020

Virovitica-based company Contorte, a successful Croatian furniture manufacturer, is moving to the Viroexpo Fair premises and launching a large investment which will bring a lot of new job to the area, reports Glas Slavonije on March 14, 2016.

"This is an investment worth six million euros. Ultimately, almost 180 people will be hired. Most of them will be candidates with secondary education, such as carpenters and wood technicians, but we will also have some employees with a college degree. Funds for the new investment will in part come from the EU’s structural funds and from commercial banks in cooperation with the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) while the company will also invest its own resources", said Hrvoje Vampovac, CEO of Contorte.

Another significant fact is that the company will use domestic suppliers only, Contorte representatives said. This will additionally strengthen the importance of this investment for the future development of the entire Virovitica-Podravina County and the town of Virovitica.

This project, involving the production plant for the finalization of the wood production and for the production of furniture, was presented at a recent Viroexpo international fair in Virovitica. During the course of the presentation, Vampovac emphasized that the Virovitica-Podravina County and the town of Virovitica were chosen for implementation of this investment despite numerous other options.

Contorte was founded in 2005 and is one of the leading furniture exporters in Croatia. "The company is 100 percent privately owned and focused on offering high-quality household furniture for foreign markets, mainly those in Germany and Austria, with an aim to enter further new markets. The company insists on investing into the know-how and technology while simultaneously following global trends in the furniture production. In 2016, Contorte also plans to invest 50 million kunas in several new projects in Virovitica-Podravina County", Vampovac pointed out.

Contorte has been ranked as the number three company in Virovitica-Podravina with an annual turnover of about 160 million kunas. The exports to the Western markets account for the entire turnover from the sales of the final wood products. The company plans substantial growth by 2020, and the number of employees is also expected to double. Meanwhile, new facilities are expected to open in Virovitica-Podravina and Osijek-Baranja County.
