"It's interesting to people, the technology and the entrepreneurial story behind it, and the human one, and our location, everyone wants to hear that story," stated Croatia's supercar genius Mate Rimac.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 17th of June, 2018, the world's entrepreneurial elite recently gathered in Monaco for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year awards, held for the eighteenth time this year and won by Brazillian billionaire Rubens Menin. This year, Croatia presented the main star of one of the biggest Croatian entrepreneurial success stories, Mate Rimac, owner of the world famous Rimac Automobili and the manufacturer of the world's fastest electric car.
The announcement of the winner and the final evening took place on Saturday, and alongside Croatia's very own Rimac, the award was fought for by 55 international entrepreneurs boasting eye-watering company revenues amounting to over 23 billion dollars.
"We're doing something that's very specific, people find the story interesting, especially because this is all happening in Croatia, the fastest electric cars in the world, the interesting things we do, and they're therefore interested in our story," Rimac told RTL.
"It's interesting to people, the technology and the entrepreneurial story behind it, and the human one, and our location, everyone wants to hear that story," continued Rimac.
"Croatia has a lot of potential, but, for example, we've got the biggest dependence on GDP in tourism and a very weak technological economy. We've got a few exceptions and great firms doing great jobs, but all of that is weak in comparison to the environment and to developed countries. I think it's important to show that we can have a technology company in Croatia, that there are people who can build such a company, employees, engineers and so on, and that they don't just look at us as the country with the islands, and natural beauty, but for business too. My goal is to attract other car companies to come and work in Croatia because we're the only country in Europe without a strong car industry,'' Mate Rimac concluded.
