Croatia Presenting its Cuisine at Milan Expo 2015

With live cooking presentations all visitors will be able to taste authentic dishes from Hvar

As you already know, UNESCO has inscribed the Mediterranean diet of Croatia in its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity along with the Mediterranean diet of Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Morocco and Greece. Given that the core theme of this year's expo is "feeding the Planet, Energy for Life", all countries were invited to participate within the "Week of Mediterranean Diet as Part of Global Intangible Cultural Heritage" Croatian team will participate in the Mediterranean diet forum and present the traditional cuisine of Hvar.

 

Croatian culinary team, lead by head chef Igor Živanović and his assistants Pavle and Sonja Kordić will prepare fresh ingredients shipped from Hvar right on the spot so visitors will have the opportunity to taste starogrojski paprenjoci, sack cheese, dormice, fish, honey and boar.

145 intangible cultural goods are registered in the Croatian Registry of Cultural Goods while UNESCO recognised 14 of those selected elements. The very last cultural good to be inscribed in UNESCO's Representative list was the Mediterranean Diet making Croatia the 4th country in the world in terms of the number of inscribed intangible cultural goods and No. 1 in Europe.
