MOST’s demand for entering into coalition with HDZ or SDP is for Božo Petrov to lead the government.
After early parliamentary elections in September, MOST will not advocate for another non-party candidate for Prime Minister like it did last time. According to unofficial sources, their candidate for Prime Minister will be MOST president Božo Petrov, and that will most likely be their condition for entering into coalition with either HDZ or SDP, reports Jutarnji List on July 19, 2016.
MOST has concluded that the Prime Minister should be a party political person, but they reportedly do not want either HDZ president Plenković nor SDP president Milanović, although they are the presidents of the largest parties. With Božo Petrov as Prime Minister, they believe they would be able to control that reforms are being implemented. Also, they say that MOST is ready to stay in opposition if HDZ and SDP do not accept their demands, although they are aware that a grand coalition is one of the solutions being talked about.
“After the last elections, SDP agreed that Petrov should be the Prime Minister, so we do not see why it should be any different now, and Plenković is just one person who cannot change HDZ overnight. The entire presidency of his party has remained the same, these are all people who have brought down our government and used to support Karamarko”, says a source from MOST. He added that there was no major difference between HDZ and SDP.
Another source from MOST reveals that they will enter into election campaign with the manifesto that both major parties signed during the negotiations after the last elections, which will be further updated. They will also point out that HDZ and SDP are very similar and that there are not major differences between the two parties.
