Latest Poll: People’s Coalition Leads Ahead of HDZ

Contrary to some other recent polls, SDP still has a statistically significant advantage over HDZ.

The latest monthly poll conducted by Promocija Plus agency for Croatian Radio Television, which was conducted in the period from 1 to 3 August, shows that the People’s Coalition leads ahead of HDZ and its partners. The change in the HDZ leadership has increased the support for the party. MOST and Živi Zid have seen a slight increase in their support, reports HRT on August 4, 2016.

If the parliamentary elections were held in early August, the SDP-led People’s Coalition would be the relative winner of the elections. They would receive the support of 34.4 percent of voters, while HDZ and its partners would get 26.4 percent of support.

MOST is in third place with the support of 10.4 percent of voters, followed by Živi Zid (6.4 percent), the coalition of Bandić Milan 365 and Reformist Party (2.1 percent), and the coalition of Labour and ORaH (1.7 percent). Regional parties are at 1.4 percent, while the right-wing coalition and Pametno party have 1.2 percent each.

Among individual parties, SDP leads (29.6 percent), followed by HDZ (26.0 percent), MOST (10.5 percent), and Živi Zid (5.9 percent).

The list of the most positive politicians is headed by President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović (16.2 percent; 17.1 percent in July, and 28.2 percent in August last year). She is followed by “no one” (14.2 percent), SDP leader Zoran Milanović (13.1 percent; 12.4 percent in July), HDZ president Andrej Plenković (9.6 percent; 7.5 percent in July), and Božo Petrov (6.0 percent. 6.9 percent in July).

Among the most negative politicians, former HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko and Zoran Milanović are still at the top of the list. Karamarko was the choice of (31.6 percent, 39.5 percent in July), while Zoran Milanović is second (23.7 percent; 19.7 percent in July), followed by “all politicians” (11.1 percent), and Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegović (6.3 percent; 5 percent in July).

The direction of the country is supported by only 10.1 percent of citizens (compared to 6.8 percent in July), while 75.2 percent think that Croatia is heading in the wrong direction (compared to 84.5 percent in July).
