Sandra remained unbeaten this season, with just one more Diamond League event to follow
Diamond League meeting in Paris on August 27. 2016, was the first competition for the double Olympic Champion after the Rio Olympics, so the start was a bit bumpy, and she trailed after the first three rounds.
The Croatian found her rhythm by the time she entered the circle for the fourth time. She launched the discus out to 66.80m to take the lead and extended it to 67.62m in the last round to win comfortably by more than three meters.
“It was amazing tonight, I'm so happy to win my first competition after Rio and my gold medal,” the 26-year-old said. “I was a bit tired after the Games, but I still had some power left today.”
Sandra has already won the Diamond Trophy on three different occasions, and she secured her fourth triumph already. Her fourth could be particularly special, as she is on course to become the first athlete to claim maximum Diamond Race points by winning every single round of the season-long competition if she wins in Zurich finals.
