Words that Go Together: Brasserie on 7 & Beer

By 21 September 2016

Brasserie on 7, everyone’s favorite riva restaurant, is as much about the drink as it is the food. Have you seen their beer selection?

Brasserie on 7, the stylish sanctuary on the famous Split promenade that uses French gastronomy to serve up classic Croatian cuisine is a sure winner. Top quality ingredients, experienced chefs, and guaranteed full stomachs are just a few of the perks this Brasserie offers...but what do you choose to wash down the flavor blast of food? The answer is beer.

Brasserie on 7 offers a seriously impressive beer selection, with items ranging from classic Croatian drafts to Belgian beasts boasting 9% alcohol content. Let’s take a closer look.

For starters, you can take the easy route and choose any of the standard draft or simple bottled beers B7 offers. For instance, you can get Heineken on tap, or opt for Croatian made Karlovačko. These same two are offered in bottles, with a larger selection of Karlovačko to choose from (ever tried the Radler or Crno?).

Next we have the treasure trove: the special beers. We can start with what they offer from Croatia, and we have to admit they choose some of the best. For starters, B7 offers San Servolo, and is perhaps one of the few places in Split that offers all three types for you to choose from, from light to dark. To continue with the Croatian crafts, we have ABA 5th Element, Split’s very own “Barba”, Red Baron, Vunetovo, and popular Zmajsko from Zagreb.

From there we’ll move along the list and begin with some of the foreign “special beers” B7 offers, that being the Augustiner Helles from Munich, Germany, the Bernard Celebration Lager from the Czech Republic, the German Hefeweizen Benediktiner Weissbier, and a Malastrana Dark Lager from the Czech Republic.

We continue along with Tennet’s Whiskey Oak (yes, beer aged with whiskey oak) from no other than Scotland, and the Old Empire English India Ale from Burton-on-Trent, England.

What is really fascinating about this beer selection are the hard hitters. B7 offers Amarcord Ama Bionda, a Belgian style pale ale and a Chimay Grande Reserve Belgian strong dark ale - boasting a whopping 9% alcohol content. With all of these international flavors, how does one choose?

What can we say? Brasserie on 7 truly does offer one of the most unique beer selections in Split, with a selection worth every last drop. We know we're thirsty.
