'Zlatni Grgur', a new music award, will be given for an outstanding contribution to the music scene in Split. The first award will be presented on October 1 on the International Day of Music.
The first awards ceremony for the 'Zlatni Grgur' will be held with special performances by the city mandolin society “Sanctus Domnio”, prof. Ivana Božičević, and music group 'Repassage'. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 1, beginning at 19h in the Old City Hall at Pjaca.
To show recognition for contributions to the music scene in the city of Split, the award 'Zlatna Floramye' will be given to women musicians (individual or collective) and 'Zlatni akvarel' will be awarded for men (individual or collective). New musical hopefuls will be awarded the prize “Zlatni tić” and for an outstanding contribution to the music scene in Split, the “Zlatni Grgur” will be awarded.
Sponsors of this event are the City of Split and the Croatian Music Union, with the intention to establish professional recognition for the prominent Split musicians and ensembles in the field of classical, jazz, and blues music.
For the establishment of this award, October 1 is selected as this date marks the International Day of Music.
