Jako Andabak Invests 5 Million for Brač Airport

By 27 October 2016

Over the next few weeks, work on the construction of the runway at Brač airport will begin, allowing this small island airport to bring in an increase of traffic, reports Poslovni.hr.

According to the chairman of the Board of the Brač airport, Tonči Peović, who was also the longtime director of Dubrovnik and Zagreb airport, work should proceed in parallel with regular airport traffic. The extension of the runway from the current 1,440 to 1,760 meters is a necessary step to accommodate the needs of airlines and enables landing aircraft of up to 150 seats for the entire European market, says Peović. Five million kuna has been invested in the total project, with the overall investment provided by the majority owner of hotel company BlueSun, Jako Andabak.

Work on the runway should be completed by the end of April, with the full capacity in operation already in the summer season 2017.

Brač airport has seen around 10,000 passengers over the previous two years, with this year recording an increase of over 40%. For now, however, contracted flights for next season, with previous partners and a special arrangement with TUI-operations, suggest that the Brač airport should bring in approximately 30,000 passengers.
