Croatia also imports candles - importing candles twice more than exports, although 2015 saw exports increase significantly.

In Croatia last year compared to 2014, exports tripled for candles. In 2014, Croatia exported candles worth 664,000 euros, while in 2015 the export value was of more than two million.

The export of candles most important trading partner is Slovenia, in which Croatia has exported almost half of their total exports.

In 2015, Croatia has imported candles worth 4.67 million euros, which is slightly more than the value of 2014, when imports of candles was 4.43 million euros. Germany imports a third of the candles, with Croatia’s second largest trading partner being Poland in 2015, when Croatia imported candles for more than one million euros, according to the HGK.

All Saint’s Day is a Roman Catholic observance that falls on November 1st. The day is meant to remember those who have departed by visiting the graves of their loved ones - adorning the graves with flowers and candles. It is a national holiday in Croatia and has been celebrated here for centuries.
