The legendary Hollywood actor John Malkovich is visiting Croatia again
John Malkovich arrived in Opatija on Saturday afternoon and spent three hours in the renowned restaurant Bevanda with his friend, the famous Croatian violinist Ino Mirković, reports Jutarnji list on July 23, 2017.
Malkovich headed to Opatija after he held a concert 'Report on the blind' in Ljubljana on Thursday, performing as a narrator as the ensemble played Alfred Schnittke's Concerto for piano and strings. They'll perform the same programme in Lisinski in Zagreb this October, accompanied by the internationally renowned pianist Anastasia Terenkova.
This is the first time the 64-year-old actor is visiting Opatija, so he wished to sample the local cuisine of Kvarner and had Bevanda's shrimp risotto and sea bass. He was offered to try out any of the 800 bottles from the wine cellar in Bevanda, but politely refused and simply asked for some fruit and and espresso for dessert.
On his previous trip to Croatia, Malkovich visited Palmižana and called it the best vacation of his life in an interview, stating he sees Croatia as heaven on Earth. Asked if he came to Opatija for business purposes, he said he was only here to relax. "I'm on tour at the moment. I was in Ljubljana on Thursday and in Udine of Friday, so I came here only to have some rest. That's what I need. I need to relax", he said, adding he's also looking forward to his upcoming performance in Zagreb. After the lunch in Bevanda, Malkovich headed to Istria, where he'll stay for three days.
Director of Bevanda Klaudio Jurčić didn't hide he was taken by the guest. "We had a lot of famous people visit Bevanda, but Malkovich simply won us over, especially by his calm composure and modesty", stated Jurčić.
