Newborn Photography Trend Arrives in Croatia

By 7 February 2018

A lovely option for parents of newborns.

Tea Josipa Kresović is a 31-year-old photographer from Zagreb who has brought “the newborn photography” trend to Croatia. It is a trend of photographing babies and creating visually beautiful memories of their first days, reports Poslovni.hr on February 7, 2018.

More than a year ago, she opened her own studio in the Sesvete neighbourhood and launched the Little People by Tea Jo brand. She says she has received a good response from parents. Reactions are very positive, which is understandable since few people can remain indifferent to this type of photos.

It took her about a month to start her business, spent mostly on collecting the necessary paperwork. The next step was to open a photo studio in her family home, adapted to made moms and babies more comfortable. The studio also has a large number of props needed for this type of photos, such as baby caps, clothes, cribs and hand-craft products made from the finest materials, supplied from all over the world.

She graduated from a photography school and spent ten years working as a photographer. She has been engaged in professional children photography for ten seven years, which includes training with some of the world's leading photographers. One of them, Australian Jade Gao, will come to Zagreb to take part in a workshop this year. “In Croatia, such workshops have so far not been available. Everything started two years ago when I met Jade in London,” said Tea.

The newborn photography is quite developed abroad, and the industry has experienced a real boom over the last few years. There are specialised online stores around the world where different handmade supplies made from natural materials can be obtained. On the other hand, the Croatian market is still relatively underdeveloped, especially when compared to the wedding photography.

Tea’s life story is inspirational in the context of the popularisation of vocational professions in Croatia since it confirms that, regardless of the market saturation, you can always find a sector that needs further development. “In this kind of work, we are differentiated by creativity, so I think there is room for everyone. The professional photography should be more appreciated, as well as all the effort, time, talent and investments involved in running a serious business. I have been fully dedicated to the job I love, which allows me to live a decent life,” said Tea.

“I have been doing several things at the same time, but I can now say that I have fulfilled my dream. In my work, I love the energy which radiates from these little and wonderful miracles and the joy they bring to everyone around them. I must admit that after every shoot I am physically tired, but there is also a huge amount of positive energy,” says Tea.

The clients have recognised this, which is why they are coming in ever larger numbers.
