dm-drogerie markt to sell Croatian Organic Beans

By 23 January 2017

dm-drogerie markt will sell organic food products from Croatia.

Food which was earlier possible to buy only at the green markets can now be found in local drugstores. dm-drogerie markt has decided to sign a cooperation agreement with the Prpić family farm from Karlovac and will buy its beans which are cultivated in environmental-friendly conditions, on the 14 hectares of land on their farm in Brežani, reports Lider on January 23, 2017.

“The beans which we produce at Brežani according to traditional methods will be for the first time available to customers from all over Croatia. How important cooperation with dm-drogerie markt is for us is best demonstrated by the fact that dm’s stores are daily visited by more than 83,000 customers. We hope that some of them will recognize the quality of our products. I believe that, thanks to the cooperation with dm, we will expand our production because we now have a strong partner with whom we can build success together”, said Diana Prpić, head of the family farm.

With its cooperation with Prpić family farm, dm-drogerie markt is continuing to work on expanding its offer with so-called bio-food, where their strongest competitors are Bio&Bio stores, as well as Konzum.

In April 2015, dm developed its own brand dmBio, which was its first brand in the category of organically produced food. Since January 2016, dm-drogerie markt stores also offer products made by the best young Croatian farmer Ivan Veselić.

dm-drogerie markt is one of the largest drugstore chains in Central and Southeast Europe. The first dm store in Germany was opened in 1973 in Karlsruhe, while the first store in Croatia was opened in Zagreb in 1996. Nowadays, with 156 stores located in all parts of Croatia, dm-drogerie markt is represented all over the country. The administrative and distribution centre in Zagreb is the company’s headquarters for the whole of Croatia, as well as a link towards neighbouring countries in Southeast Europe.

In the latest business year, dm in Croatia had a turnover of two billion kuna, while the entire dm group achieved a turnover of 9.7 billion euros.
