A unique view of the inferno.

Three Canadair CL-415 firefighting aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, from the 93rd Base of Croatian Air Force and Air Defense, took part on Tuesday in firefighting efforts at the Dugave-Srinjine-Žrnovnica-Perun area fire near Split, and at the same time they managed to extinguish a fire on the island of Brač,” announced the Ministry of Defence, reports Index.hr on 18 July 2017.

“The fire was extinguished thanks to the rapid reaction of the air force. The aircraft then continued with their operations near Split.

The fire at Ceranje near Benkovac is still active, and there are two Airtractors operating in the area, while a Mi-8MTV helicopter has been sent to a new fire site at Dugobabe near Split.

Since the beginning of this year's firefighting season (1 June), the firefighting aircraft was active at the location of 99 fires (37 in Šibenik-Knin County, 30 in Split-Dalmatia County, 25 in Zadar County, 5 in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, 1 in Lika-Senj County, and 1 in Istria County).

The aircraft has flown for about 750 hours, with about 26,000 tonnes of water being discharged and 193 firefighters and soldiers being transported to fire sites,” announced the Ministry in the statement.
