Jadrolinija Seafarers Protest in Zadar

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - Seafarers employed in the Jadrolinija Croatian national shipping company on Thursday rallied in the port of Gaženica, Zadar, to protest against low pays and the model of overtime payment. A leader of the independent trade union of seafarers in Jadrolinija, Nikica Grbić, said that the rally had brought together over a hundred seafarers who expressed their dissatisfaction with the retirement package. Gbrić said that upon retirement, former seafarers were paid only HRK 8,000 as severance pay. Croatia's Ljutić Takes Bronze In World Junior Alpine Ski Championships Giant Slalom

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - Croatian ski racer Zrinka Ljutić won a bronze medal in the women's giant slalom at the FIS Alpine World Junior Championships in Panorama Mount Resort, Canada on Wednesday. The gold went to Magdalena Egger of Austria, who was by 1.01 seconds faster than Ljutić, and the silver to Emma Aicher of Germany, who was by 0.22 seconds slower than Egger. Price of New Flats Up 7.8% in 2021

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - The average price of new flats in Croatia in 2021 was HRK 13,713 per square metre, which is 7.8% more than in 2020, show data from the national statistical office. In the capital Zagreb, the average price of a new flat was HRK 14,672 per square metre, 4.7% more than in 2020, while in other cities it was HRK 12,577 or 12.3% more. Dinko Suton to Be Appointed New Secretary-General of President's Office

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - A former commercial director of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dinko Suton, will join the Office of the President as its secretary-general. EU Digital COVID Certificate Of Recovery Based On Rapid Antigen Tests Too

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - As of Thursday, Croatian authorities will be issuing digital EU COVID-19 certificates as proof of recovery based on a rapid antigen test, said the AKD company, a government-owned manufacturing company for the production of high-security printed products (ID cards, passports, etc.). Testing must be performed by an authorized laboratory and the test must be from the EU list of reliable rapid antigen tests. Croatia Logs 1,728 New COVID Cases, 18 Related Deaths

ZAGREB, 10 March 2022 - Croatia has registered 1,728 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 18 people have died as a consequence while there are 10,255 active cases, the national COVID response team reported on Thursday. Currently, 821 COVID patients are in hospital treatment 57 of whom are on respirators. Also, 6,302 persons are self-isolating. Under the vaccine rollout scheme, 65.59% of the adult population is fully vaccinated.
